Well, considering that I don't actually own any of the Final Fantasy games, that's a total win-win situation. Anyway, I'd probably buy 7, since I want to finish that one next.

I've only finished two of them...

I prostitute myself for the low, low price of $10, and then buy all of them.

What to choose, what to choose... ummm... 7 would prolly keep you busy longer, but 4 is so much fun, and the story's a little better... i guess i would go for 4.

This is a no brainer, Final Fantasy 6 is the only choice. It has the best story and most options, also has the best magic system I have seen in any game save chrono trigger.

I'm itchin' for VI, but I think Tactics would keep me glutted longer. Kind of the same way my Favorite Album isn't my Most Played Album.

Final Fantasy 3 ...er 6..whatever.
Best hands down. Everything ruled. Story. Sound. Graphics (at the time) Plus it had a sense of humor. All good things.

 I dunno. Maybe I'm too much of a fence sitter to decide, but that FFVI bone is itchin' mighty powerful.

Final Fantasy 4 easily!

I really am torn... Final fantasy 6 and 7 are so good... yet can they compare with tactics? And does tactics even count, anyway? well, if it does, then i guess mine would be tactics, then 6, then 7 (ive beat tactics 3 times and 6 twice).

DragoonV
11-19-2003, 03:03 AM
Yeah ... tough one ... I would be inclined to buy Final Fantasy 1, simply because it IS Final Fantasy, and it would be fun to play again ... but Final Fantasy 6 was ... as others have said ... the best, hands down ... Wooo!!!

In that situation I would have to choose FF3. Primely because it's the only one I haven't played and I've been wanting to play it awhile.

However before that I think I would sit in a corner and cry for about a month at my loss of my FF colelction.
(If my house got robbed, I probably lost all my D&D books too)

As for my favorite game... that's a difficult question. I would probably have to go with FF4.

There's been a lot of VIII bashing on this forum and I'm sick of it. 8 happens to be the first final fantasy I ever played and it's the reason I began looking for the older games. The graphics are great, the music is the best (I feel) of all the final fantasies. The story is quite good and the ending sequence is much better than X. So my Dollar goes to VIII.

My favourite is X, but FFI will always hold a place in my heart. And it's all Brian's fault that I've rediscovered it.

I replayed 4-10 recently and i loved 4 out of all of them the best. I also liked 5 and 7 a lot, too. my favorite is 4 right now.

I would buy FF1. Because I'm old-school like that, yo. I just love that game way too much. I've played it through like...twenty seven times. (Curse those Solo missions from the gamefaqs board...) FF7 would be my second choice. God, I love that game.

Final Fantasy Tactics is like a tiny god. Failing that, FFV. Any game that lets you run around as a bunch of ninjas. :D

Depends. If I were more in the mood for a game with an interesting plot, I'd go with FFVII. But, if I were more into the actual gameplay mechanics/character building system, I'd go with either 6 or 10. I love 7's story, but I've never been a big fan of the Materia system.

[FONT=Century Gothic][SIZE=7][COLOR=DarkOrange] My favorite Final Fantasy would have to be #2 for the SNES...It has everything, romance betrayal and that crystal music is to die for...I love them all, but I guess I am an old school kinda girl...

FF Tactics all the way. It actually takes skill to beat. Has a great storyline, battle system, the extra characters are cool, and the ending is one of the best squaresoft has ever come up with.

:bmage: my favourite final fantasy's is final fantasy because its more fun cause you have more options of characters, and final fantasy 10 cause it has the best story line :bmage:

I would have to say Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy 4. Tactics... Well... It just kicked major ass. I loved the storyline, characters, and combat system. I just plain liked Final Fantasy 4. No real reason why I liked it. I just did. Plus, you can't argue with a game whose ultimate throwing weapon is a spoon (darn Square for making it into a fork in the Playstation version!) and used the phrase "Spoony bard".

You actually understood FF tactics story line???

anyways, FF 6 all the way!
best. story. ever. i could not help but be amazed at the ending battle. Kefka could kick any other FF boss's ass anytime, any place. and because i got it for the PS, i saw some kickin' movies at the end. awsome.

I've played Final Fantasys 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 through to the end. I've played a small amount of 2, 3, and 8, and half of Tactics. I can honestly say that Tactics is my favorite thus far, followed by (in order) 1, 6, 5, and 7. The only ones I've actually hated are 2 and 8. *shrug* I still haven't played 9, 10, or 11... though 11 looks to be fun.

I'm torn between IX and X. X has the best battle system imho, while IX is the one that just 'feels' the most fun. I've never understood why so many people revere VI, though...

VI and VII are very close, but in the end, I'd prolly side with VII.

I'd have to go with Final Fantasy VII since that's the one that I used to get some of my other friends interested in RPGs (it's also the one that made me give a rat's about picking up a controller).

Damn! Umm, X-2, cause I havent played it yet.

What about Origins? Didnt anyone play the remake of FFI (Origins?) I mean Black Mage looks more badass, and when he turns wizard, he's not dehooded! Any thoughts on that one?

And i didnt play FF2 on Origins yet, im hearing mixed rumors. Is it worth it? (tho i played I, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X) Keywords?

oh ya...i wonder what the webcomic would look like with the updated versions of the characters from Origins?

PS. Advent Children...nuff said

If i had to choose id pick 7. IMO best game ever great story, great graphics, great music so much optional stuff to do and the coolest villan ever. But i have never met a final fantasy i didn't love. Atleast half of my 10 favourite games would be FF.

Final Fantasy 1 or 4 are the best. With 1, you get the NEVER DONE BEFORE thing, but with 4 you get the better story, more spells, NOT NEEDING TENTS TO FUGGIN SAVE THE GAME, and of course SUMMONING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion, no. It was FAR too complicated. It has no real leveling up system.... you level up your stats based on how you do in the battle. Which can be good or bad. On the good side, you could become almost godlike with your weapons (you can hold up to two unless you use the bow) which means you can do two hits in one turn. On the bad side, it can be very hard to get your HP and MP up. Oh, and did I mention? The only way you can get higher level spells (like Fire 2, Fire 3) is to constantly use the spell over and over.... I liked it better in the others where all you had to do was just say, 'Hm, I want to learn Firaga' and poof, you could have it.

hmmm...this is a tough one. I'm torn between 1 and 3 (aka 6). 1 was the first game I ever got on my NES and it has that "revolutionary" thing going for it. But 3 was just so good that I'm gonna have to go with that one.

I didn't think it was all bad. I never used any magic besides Cure and I got through the game fine. Raising HP was a bitch, but it wasn't all different than leveling up. Raising MP had to be the worst though, having to use half of your MP or more during a battle. The storyline and characters wasn't all that bad either. It's worth playing through if you're really bored and have nothing else to do.

since no one said . I would pick 9. i have ff1-7, 10. 1-6 on emulaters. 7 on ps. 10 on ps2.

I have not played 9 in years. I have never beaten it. So I would buy 9.

ff8 sucks. But i would still play it.

Well, I'm not a fan of Final Fantasy at all, but I'd go with XI, since you don't have to know anything about FF in order to play it. And I simply LOVE MMORPGs. Failing that, I'd choose ten, 'cause I've seen someone play it, and it looked fairly fun. Plus, Yuna is the most beautiful girl ever made up of letters and numbers imprinted on a CD and then translated into pixels on a TV screen.

Patricoo
11-26-2003, 05:55 AM
Anyone who chooses 10 simply just never played the old ones have you?

ff6 rocks. I own FF7 but I never got around to playing it much so I can't rate it. (It's more for display really scince we own them all)

FF6 is probably one of the best story lines ever. The Esper (summon) system rocks, the graphics ain't half bad for sprites, and guys, while still only like 32 bit, have some kick ass detail to them.

WTF was up with FF8?! They were all friends a long time ago and they just forgot?! WTF?! And does that even matter? God damn stupid thing. And the Junction system along with the Gaurdian Force (Summon) Ideas were just too damn confusion. On top of all that Ultamica lives up to her name as the HARDEST LAST BOSS OF ANY RPG. Stupid assed thing. It actually takes effort with codes. What the hell is that? Although I must complement them on the coolest summons and charactors then any other final fantasy.

FF9-Kickass, so cool.
FF10-Could be much better. They tried to give it all this new crap and it done horribly. Sphere Grid?! Come on! Good idea not for Final Fantasy.
FF5-Very nice. Job system always fun.
FF1-So short.
FF2-Cool...but you know...old.
FF11-Wanna try but I think it's a rip to do online. Oh well.

My fave is Final Fantasy V. I love the character Galuf (he is my fave FF character of all time) and the fact that you learn that Faris is a girl! The storyline is really good and keeps all the elements that are Final Fantasy while adding the really awesome Job Class System. I had too much fun playing around with the different jobs and just spent hours only doing "dress-up" trying to decide which job class to pursue next.

Patricoo
11-26-2003, 02:07 PM
Okay I have to say this now that Master Zero brought it up.

In FF5, falling from the sky in the very very beggining, is that a meteor or a piece of meat loaf? I dunno. Still fun.

(Feris is my thief/Ninja and Gauluf my Blue mage/summoner/Red Mage. Bartz my Warrior/Lancer and the girl....whats-her-name my white/black mage.)

MasterZero
11-26-2003, 08:32 PM
Feris was my thief too, then got the Monk Class(I can't seem to remember what else I gave her). Galuf I would make a White Mage at first, then give him the Fighter class, then a Summoner Class. Yuna (yes, her name was Yuna) was my Blue Mage, Summoner, and Monk. and Butz (yes, his name was Butz) started as a Warrior, then became a time mage, then a red mage.

I just gave them everything eventually and decided on abilities to give them later. :P

The meteor at the beginning was a really good animation for an early game. The zooming in and out as the meteor hit the ground.

I always call my main charactor Morino. (For moron...I thought it was cleaver)

Video game charactors-Morino
RPG's with one charactor to control-Patricoo
RPG with armies-LexmarkForces

You see any of those names, dammit it's me. AND DON'T TAKE THEM because then I have to think of something else. And i'm not favorable to thinking.

I would definitely pick FF6 as my favorite. But I have a question. What would make someone choose FF4 over 6? I'm honestly curious. I thought that FF6 was like FF4 only with more in depth story. I mean, with FF4, there was barely any room for character development. I don't think any of the characters were significantly different by the end of the game. I mean, Cecil changed into a paladin, but he's still the same character. It's been awhile since I've played FF4, so could someone refresh my memory and tell me why FF4 is better?

Final Fantasy God
12-02-2003, 04:40 PM
Okay Von Russia,
Cicel did develop as a charter, because it was reveled that he was a lunarian, and also that his brother was also Golbez. That is pretty good for the early FF games. Rosa really never changed, same with Kain, Edge, and Rydia. But Cecil did and also, the story pretty much revolved around him and the others were nothing more than supporting cast. Still FF4 is by far the better game, I cannot remember much Charter development in FF6, and besides FF4 introduces the Summon magic, which is the shizzel.

I spit upon your SNES RPGs. FF6 is a relic. FFX-2 ALL THE WAY BABY!

I don't play that many RPGs, basicly starting with FFX, so it's natural that I enjoy FFX-2 more then any other.

Patricoo
12-02-2003, 04:55 PM
If your first Final Fantisy (or first one you liked) was FF10 then it's perfectly 100% normal to like FFX-2. Just you know, in my never ending quest to destroy that game, ( :P ) you should also try Breath of Fire III, Ledgend of Legaia, and or FF6 and 9. perferably 9 first.

6 (3 on SNES) is my favorite, followed closely by Tactics. There was nothing I disliked about the game.

I, of course, quite enjoyed 1,2,4,5 and 9. I haven't played 10 or above. 7 and 8 were my least favorites, but they were still good games.

you never played 10 or above? I never thought I would see a mind pure of evil.....

They are all pretty good. I don't have a problem with any-except nine.

Nothing really bad, but I didn't the characters.

Personally, 6 is my favorite, but since I don't like FFIX as much as the others I would just sell that somewhere else, then come back and buy the rest of the FFs.

EASY FFVI. No question about it. I would probably perfer the SNES version.. 'cause that's the one I played first and I love it... but maybe the PS one 'cause that would probably last longer... and more saved states. ^^

But yeah, I've played every single FF game except for the gameboy ones, and FFVI is still my top favorite! ^_^
