View Full Version : Only Robot: Chapter 1 - The Alpha...
"No... please! Please! I have a family..." The man was now cornered.
"You shall be terminated..." The cold steel voice of the robot said. The man knew he was going to die. He lowered his head and closed his eyes, waiting for the end. That's when he heard the shot, and the loud crash of metal hitting the floor. He opened his eyes slowly and looked up. "What the...?"
"We're here to help!" A man in shades had kicked in the door, followed by several others.
"You... You've saved me!"
"That's our job!" He finished walking in, the couches and chairs all on their sides, a TV in the corner smashed in. The leader was huge, with muscles on top of muscles, carring a gun that only he could. "These robots are going to pay..."
"Not so fast..."
---
Bill nearly jumped out of his seat. "What the...!? Ah!" He quickly looked around, only to find his servebot standing over his shoulder.
"If you drink too fast, you will get hiccups. It happens all the time with you."
Bill sighed as he shook his head. "Thanks MC." He gave the robot a smile. Sure it was only a servebot, but it was with him for as long as he could remember. He really didn't want to admit it, but he thought that one day, he might be able to make a robot with feelings... almost human-like, and then put it into MC, His best friend.
"Also sir... you wanted me to remind you when it was 10:00 AM sir."
"So?"
"It is 10:00 AM sir..."
"Oh crap!" Bill shouted as he turned off his movie and headed for his room to throw on his uniform. He only had half an hour to get to work. He didn't want to be late, for today was the big day. They were getting close to their newest product over at Roboics, "Humbot," the closest thing to a robot with emotions, and Bill was leading the charge on the design team. Finishing with his last button he ran out the door.
"Have a good day, sir!"
OOC: This is the time to set up your characters in whatever they do. They don't have to be in Boston now for I shall call you when the time comes.

John Rogers hadn't slept all night. Hacking was done most frequently at night, and he didn't want to miss out on the action. It was getting early in the morning, and he checked his to-do list.
"Let's see... 'earned' at least $2,500... screwed over one of my cyberspace enemies... hack into a big corporation?"
John grinned from ear to ear. Roboics was coming out with a robot with emotions, and he wanted to get a sneak peek. He logged onto his computer, which used several 'wall' computers, each with a different firewall, to filter out intrusion. He used one of the 'masks' to log onto the Roboics interface as a random employee of sufficient level: a secretary for one of the higher ups. He immediatly began probing around what the secretary was allowed to have access to and quickly became bored. So, he started checking out what the secretary had attained access to through skill and diplomacy.
Apparently the emotion system was more sophisticated than anyone knew. In fact, it pretty much covered everything there was to emotion. What troubled John was that they covered the negative emotions: anger, hate, ambition, greed. That could lead to a mess. John immediatly logged off everything: a hard disconnect. He got on his motorcycle and went to buy a gun and lots of clips. So much for the 2.5 K.

*Being a waitress in Boston was where her life had led her. Nothing so special, and to the point she had almost forgotten that horrbile night. For once things seemed to be going well. For working here the land owner offered a small apartment up on that top floor just above the Coffee Shop. She was found leaning against the main counter, it wasn't too busy, but as soon as the clock struck 10:00 the place would be buzzing with people.
Day Dreaming she found herself, her hand idly going over the bar top with the drenched towel, only to soon after have the worker's book slammed into the back of her head.*
-Your slacking again!-
*Her eyes widdened as she flinched, turning to see her attacker. It had been her boss, rather young. He had dropped out of school just as she did, but her reasons related to her family problems. She sighed gazing him over as he offered a simple smile. As mean as he came off, deep down inside he was just the playful type.
That and hated robots, you wouldn't see one ten feet close to his shop. She guessed something like what happened to her might of occured with him as well, but he never found time to talk about it. Opening her mouth to protest she was suddenly picked up, slung over his shoulder as he made his way to the back kitchen, yelping and creating a fit all at once.*
Victor, what are you doing?! Put me down!
-gladly!-
*He set her down in front of a mass of dirty dishes, a goofy smile on his face as hers laid sagging. The one thing she hated to do most of all. Turning she looked at Victor, placing on her best puppy dog face.*
...come on...Victor..we're friends...help me out here..
*He raised an eye brow then sighed.*
-Fine, you can take my shift today, and I'll take yours. Just make sure your prepared for all the people coming in and that your right on their orders. Understand?-
*Her face lighting up she nodded, darting past him as he slapped his hand toward her rear. Her eyes widdening as she spun to face a face with a devil like grin and wink.*
-Go get 'em tiger!-
Victor, you pervert!
*She screamed, snatching his booklet from hand and slamming it across his head, with that she was out. Setting up tables as she waited for the first patron to make their entrence. Every now and then gazing up through the glass windows that lined the Shop.*

IC: Alex was waiting at a small cafe, drinking his coffee. About 20 yards ahead of him was his target.
The brief twitch of the man's shoulders gave Alex the warning he needed to lean down and tie a shoelace. The man averted his gaze, and went back to looking around.
Soon, another man walked up to the first. Something in Alex's mind went off. From the body-language of the newcomer, he guessed that the man was armed in some fashion. He rose calmly, gathered up his newspaper, and started walking in that direction.
As he closed, he heard the two fugitives converse.
"That EMP thing? We NEED it!"
"Not unless you gotta' the goods."
"Goods? You want GOODS!?"
The first man rose, bringing a gun out to the face of the newcomer. Alex pulled his own gun, and slipped it inside of the newspaper, making a show of screaming like the others.
Within the middle of the confusion, when the crowd was the thickest, he levelled the gun and fired, taking the one man with a gun in the temple. The second pushed away, pulling his own gun and firing simontaneously into his attacker. As the corpse was turning, the bullet fragmented around the same area.
Basically, it was another perfect mission for Alex. He went with the rest of the crowd, just sending the image of terror. This got him out, and to the airport.

Tobias Farhann stopped his motorcycle in front of an abandoned factory. The boss said something about renegade robots holding hostages here. He stepped off the motorcycle and entered calmly, his 16 guage shotgun in hand. He entered a corridor and heard the calm, collected voices of robots. peeking around a corner into a brightly lit room. "We should just kill her. She's worth nothing to us!" said one angrily. A thin, wiry human with glasses stepped into the room. "Shut up!" he said. "Besides, I think our negotiator has arrived." Tobias, as if on cue, stepped into the room, his shotgun back into the depths of his overcoat. "Let go of the girl!" he warned as three robots stepped forward. "I will use deadly force if neccesary." The robots leapt forward and hit him, sending him sprawling across the ground. He grabbed it's foot and slammed it against the wall with tremendous force. He drew his shotgun and shot the other two, wiping blood off of his face. "Let the girl go!" he repeated, louder this time. The human cocked a pistol and aimed it at the girl's head. He stepped into an elevator. "I'll take it under advisement. So long, sucker!" The elevator door closed and the girl was shoved out, flying into Tobias, who glowered in rage. "Take this under advisement, you four-eyed bastard!" He grabbed a nearby computer and tied a stick of C4 to it, and then pushed open the doors to the elevator shaft. He flung the makeshift bomb downwards and watched it fall and explode. "Holy shit!" Tobias grabbed the girl and leapt away from the shaft as flames licked upwards and through the door. He took the girl back to her home and treated her wounds.

Tobias stood in the police chief's office. "You idiot!" yelled the chief. "C'mon, Tobias. Not every situation calls for your patented approach of shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more, and then when everybody's dead, try to ask a question or two. It just doesn't work that way! Dismissed." Tobias walked out of the office and exited the police station, heading back to his apartment.

Jason's Trans-Am bulleted down I-495 in excess of 100 miles per hour He knew that obeying the speed limit was not an option right now, lest he be late for work. Roboics had contracted him to help with the Humbot project, as well as provide informational security on the project. Since Jason was still trying to find what he beleived could be a fatal flaw in all programming, he accepted the job.
The fact that I was once a programmer for their competitor was a nice incentive for them... he thought with a slight grin as he veered off the highway and made his way to the Roboics science lab.
A robot with emotions...a good idea...provided that flaw I think exists is just a fabrication of my paranoia. he thought as he parked the car and exited. He had left his heavy weaponry in the car, but his empolyment contract allowed him to carry a .45 just in case he needed to use force to prevent outsiders from getting information.
Bill parked in his spot right as his boss was stepping out of his car. They were both on time, right on the button, but Bill was still going to be ripped out for not being at his post on time. "Bill!"
"I know sir... I had trouble sleeping last night and when I got up this morning..."
"Bull shit son... You got yourself stuck in another movie and forgot to tell your servebot to tell you in an hour, not a half hour. But that's not why I want to talk to you." His suitness walked over to the scientist.
"It's... not?"
"You remember Dr. Berner?"
"Yeah..." Bill said straighting his posture, "He was in charge of the new model Humbot. What about him?"
"Well..." The boss lowered his head, getting quiet to quickly. "He was found dead in his home today."
"Oh my God... how?"
"Well... we found him strangled in his bed, but there is something odd." The boss shook his head.
"Odd? What do you mean?"
"The marks on his throat are too powerful to be human's..."
"Are you saying that a robot did it?"
"That's what some people in the PD are saying."
"That's impossible. They have the three laws."
"I know, that's why this seems fishy. Anyway, there was something I want to talk to you about." Bill settled into position on the cement he was standing. "Because of the unseen events today, and your partnership with Dr. Berner, you have been promoted to head of R&D of the Humbot project. Congrats." The suit stuck out his hand.
Bill was shocked at first as he realized what had just happened. Sure his mentor had just died, but he was now in charge of the largest project in the history of mankind. His name would be everywhere, right next to the most famous Dr. Berner. All his dreams would come true. Bill extended his hand and and shook his bosses. "Oh sir! Thank you sir! This is an honor!!"
"No problem, but no more movies in the morning, huh? That's what the night time is for." And with the. the boss was off.
Bill just stood by his car for another minute, as he let everything just soak in. "This... is... awesome!!" He ran into the building, right to his desk, and began to work on the bases of the programming. If he remembered correctly, someone was coming to check to see if something was wrong. He would make sure that it was bulletproof. He took a sip of coffee, then began to look over the nermous lines of code that was written for... "The Humbot".

"Bad intuition is all."
"Eh, so long as I can spend yo money on a woman before they kill me, I'm good."

Jason parked the Trans-Am and was greeted at the door by a rather stern looking man in a buisness suit.
"You're late." the man said.
"I know...um...traffic?" Jason offered as an explination.
"Can't prove or disprove that, just try to be on time tomorrow. Anyway, get up to Dr. Asu's office. He's now in charge of the Humbot project following an...incident with Dr. Berner."
Jason's eyes became slits. "What kind of incident?"
"It does not concern you, Mr. Falkner." the suited man replied.
"Look, I'm here to help with development, as well as make sure this project's security remains intact...if something has happened to the R&D leader...I feel I have a right to know."
The man sighed. "All right...but keep this quiet. Dr. Berner was found strangled to death in his home...and the killer does not appear to be human."
"Damn...you mean a robot? That's impossible unless..."
"I've already heard your 'inheret flaw' theory, Mr. Falkner, and while I'm not ruling it out at this point, I have my doubts as to whether or not your theory is true. In any case, just try to stay on task with helping out Dr. Asu with the final checks on the Humbot programming."
"You got it, sir." Jason said as he entered the building and headed towards Dr. Bill Asu's office. He recalled what he knew about the young robotocist
He's been involved in many major advancements...competent worker...tends to be late to work...but who am I to judge on that. he thought as he entered the office.
"Dr. Asu? I'm Jason Falkner, the programming consultant? Your boss told me to report here to help you go over the final checks." he said.
Bill quickly looked up from his computer. Damn it! He came here quick didn't he... He stood up from his desk. "I take it you will be helping me with the coding for this, right. Uh... Jason was it?" He nodded. "Great, well, I was just giving it one more check, and everything seems to be in order, uh... would you like a quick explination on how this works, or... do you know already?"

Britomir woke up on the floor of his apartment. Rubbing his eyes, he stood up carefully, trying not to set off his aching back. Dammit... gotta stop working until I pass out.... probably not to good for me... He bent over to pick up his sodder gun and the board he had been working on. He carefully put the board in a plastic anitstatic bag, and the sodder gun in his belt. Glancing at the clock he exclaimed, "Shit! It's already noon! God dammit... they wanted me there by 10:30.... At least I got their board done." He hurriedly grabbed the rest of his equiptment and the specialized board and ran out the door and down to his HiFi. I'm so glad that they picked me for this job... i don't really care why they want to modify a robot's emotion board, as long as i can pay for this car....
He quickly pulled out and went as fast as legally possible over to the Roboics building, managing to get there just after 12:30. He ran up to the door, where a man in a buisness suit was waiting for him, looking rather annoyed.
"You were supposed to be here 2 hours ago!" The fury in the man's voice was barely concealed.
"I know, I know... I got your chip board done though!" Britomir flashed a nervous grin hoping that he wouldn't get pulled off the job for this. The man in the suit sputtered for a moment, then took a deep breath and regained his composure.
"Fine... Good! Now come on, you've left Dr. Asu and Jason waiting!"
With this Britomir was led to Dr. Asu's office...

Tobias stood at the scene of Dr. Berner's murder. Sometimes working with the police department, he had a vast knowledge of criminals and they ways they acted. He closely examined the body and approached the officer. "What've you got, Farhann?" the officer asked. "This man was indeed killed by a robot, sir. The strangle marks were made by humanoid hands, yet no unusual fingerprints were found on the body. I extpected this to happen. The robots are freeing themselves and becoming renegades." The officer nodded. "Thanks, Tobias." he said. "You've been a big help to the department, with all your military training. You might even want to consider a job on the force. I'll vouch for you." Tobias grinned. "Thanks, Sergeant, I'll consider it." He shook the sergeant's hand and walked away. "Now to find a robotics company and identify what kind of robot killed Dr. Berner." He soon located the Roboics building and parked his motorcycle. He entered and approached the front desk. "Hello. What can I do for you?" said a woman at the desk. "Yeah. I'm Tobias Farhann. I work with the police. I'm investigating the murder of Dr. Berner. Where could I find the new head?" The woman showed him to the door to Dr. Asu's office. "I'm sorry, but he's working right now." He ignored her and shoved her aside. "I insist." He opened the door.
Bill nodded at his newest worker. "All right, I'll just give the complete rundown incase I forget something, just ask."
Bill took a breath, "I really am excited to see this project get to work, but most people seem to get the wrong idea about this." He sat down and pulled out a blueprint. If one wasn't careful, some might have mistaken it for a human skeleton diagram. "As you can see, we set up the framework to match that of a human, so basically they will have the same weaknesses as us... that is... if they can break bones made of tritanium" He chuckled.
He pulled out another blueprint. Again, it was a human diagram of a human's nervous system, the veins and everything. "This is the wiring. We've actually set up a new system that allows the robot to feel things. Now this may not seem as important as normal, but now the robot will feel pain." Bill looked around for a good way to explain it, "It's like a human. When the hand toushes something hot, it sends a signal from the sensory organs on the fingertip, up the hand, the arm, the shoulder, neck, and head to the brain, which takes the signal, and says that what we are touching is hot. It will then send back a signal to pull away the hand, to preseve the hand... that is, if you so choose to."
Pulling out another map of blue he showed the human organ system, only in blocks, "This is the actually mechanics of the robot. We don't really need to go over this, but I should point out two things. One is here." He pointed to where there was a square showing the heart. "I've had a board specilist make us a certain device with an "Emotion chip." This is where most people get things wrong, because a robot cannot feel angry or sad or anything like that. This chip will allow it to mimic human emotions based on science. Uh... stress levels, crying, sweating, increased heart rate and breathing, the works. The robot will decide which emotion to show, but it really down't feel it. If anything, it would be like putting on a mask. I would show you more but..."
That's when the door opened revealing Britomir, the board maker. "What great timing!" He took the board, inspected it, smiled and nodded. "Excellent! This is a great piece of work you have made." He supplied him a friendly look. "This must have taken you hours to make. I hope you got some sleep." He turned to Jason. "I am holding in my hands the robot's heart." He layed it flat on his left palm, and pointed to a small black chip on the board. "This piece here... that's the emotion chip. This was designed and made from the great Dr. Berner." His smiled soon faded as he leaned back in his chair and sighed. "I miss him..."
He shook his head, and put on a mask of joy, "But that is in the past! I have to show you what really makes the "Humbot" think!" He stood up and walked to the door, "If you would follow me..."
"I insist..." He heard through the door as it opened and nearly hit him in the face. Bill tried to identify the inturder, but no name came to mind. "Excuse me... What are you doing here?"

*Tending to a guest she smiled in reply as the tip was handed to her. Placing it firmly toward her pocket she made her way for the back, stopping as she set a few dirty plates in front of Victor.*
My shift is almost over, but I think I might take it early.
*She gazed upon him, but no real answer came in turn. His face was solid, almost marked as anger as he sighed.*
"You hear the rumors yet? It seems they're trying to make a robot like a human. Emotions and all. How stupid can we get? A mechine is a mechine, it doesn't need a personality while doing its job..."
*She opend her mouth to speak, but nothing really came out. The thought of the one robot having emotions, what would of happened then. Would her parents still be dead? Deciding just to leave him to his thoughts she turned, undoing her apron and all. Setting it aside she picked up her back pack and making her way for the door.
Today was going to be a long day, whether she wanted it or not. Her strides up street was rather dull, nothing too exciting, she had too much on her mind. All of that changed when a hand reached out, grasping her by the wrist and yanking her into the alley way. The funny thing is, the hand had no real warmth.*
-You humans, thank you can control us?!-
*Her eyes widdened as seeing it was in fact a robot, but not just anyone. Her very own, once again she was left speachless as his hand traveled up for her throat. Not too stunned for that she dunked, lifting her book bag free and slamming it against his skull, or head, whichever you might prefer. Watching him stumble back she say a couple of wires loose in the frame of him.*
-I've finally tracked you down. You wont run!-
Why are you doing this?!
*She edged her steps away carefully, making sure not to make any sudden movements to cause him to charge at her again.*

John was riding home when he heard shouting from an alley. He stopped his motorcycle and parked it and looked inside. A robot had cornered a rookie police officer and was strangling him. John, seeing things looking bad, pulled out his gun and fired at the robot's head. Being without practice, he only managed to skim the back of the neck, but that was enough to down it. The officer dropped and began rubbing his neck. John offered his hand to help him up. "What happened?"
"I dunno. I was chasing a thief when that robot jumped me."
"Must have been the thief's bot."
"But what about the laws? A robot cannot harm a hu-"
"A human or, through inactivity, allow a human to be harmed. I'm guessing the thief had sufficient programming ability to bypass that law. I made mine able to protect me from human assailents."
"Wow. That's just scary."
"Almost as scary as a robot that can hate."
"Yea- what?"
"Nevermind. Just don't be suprised if things get busy."
OOC: Guys... the robots cannot disobey the three laws. It is impossible for them to do it. I've been letting it go, but the robots aren't evil yet. This is just the opening...

Tobias extended his hand. "Tobias Farhann, sir. Former Delta Force and now cooperating with the police. I'm looking into the murder of your deceased boss, Dr. Berner." Tobias set several autopse pictures on the table, showing the late doctor's strangled neck from multiple angles. "As you can see, no weapon was used to strangle Berner, meaning it was done by something with human-like hands. However, no fingerprints were found on the victim's neck save his own, and the body wasn't in the right positon for Berner to have strangled himself. Plus, the wounds on the neck were too strong to have been done by a normal human, for the juggular had been crushed in four places. There were also no signs of forced entry, so whatever killed him had been inside with his permission." Tobias sat down, his face grim. "Our only plausible conclusion is that one of Berner's robots murdered him. His purchases and receipts indicate that all robots in his possession are Roboics models, so you're our first lead. I need you to identify if these wounds were caused by one of your robots, and you can't refuse." He removed another piece of paper. "I've a warrant. If you should choose to not comply, I'll come back with a warrant for your arrest."
OOC: For those who might not know, Delta Force is the most elite fighting force in the United States. Kinda like the present-day Green Berets.
Bill winced in pain at the photos shown, then his eye twitched when he heard that a robot had done it. He took a breath to try and contain composure. "Excuse me for a minute you two... I don't expect this to take long..." Britomir and Jason shot each other glances, then left the room per his orders. (GM's note: This will help speed things up)
After the door had closed them off from Bill and his interigator, he took a step foward and pointed a finger at him, "Listen! A robot cannot harm a human, it is impossible! They have the three laws that state that they cannot, and will not, let a human come to any sort of harm what so ever, weather it be direct or indirect, those marks could have been made some device! Everyone knows that humans are getting fake limbs now and then. That is the cause!!" Bill took a step back and took a breath.
"I'm sorry sir. I'm under a lot of stress right now. Br. Berner was a good friend and teacher, and I still can't believe that he died. I'm taking this kinda hard. But it is impossible for a robot to kill a human. Physically impossible. I hate to say it, but you have to look elsewhere. Tobias stood up, his 7'8" frame towering over Dr. Asu. "Then someone programmed it to kill! Possibly one of your damn competitors! Anyone with enough skill can bypass the three laws. The marks show that the fingers are too supple to be a prosthetic, considering those are all designed the be the exact same proportions as the human they are fitted for! And, no human could've accessed Berner's home without forcing entry! A robot did this, and we fuckin' know it!" On the last sentence, he slammed his fist onto the table, causing the desk to crack.
Bill didn't flinch as he snapped the table. "I'm sorry sir... it it IMPOSSIBLE to bypass the three laws. There are security measures to prevent it from happening, and even if it was to happen, what are the motives for a robot killing a human? In any crime there are motives and opprotunity. While yes, a robot would have the opprotunity being at his house, there is no motive to his killing. If anything, the robot would have protect him not only from the three laws, but from being his creator, his father if you will. So if you can give me a motive, I'll consider it. Until then I will not believe you." His voice did not reach any higher volume than it had before.

"The robot doesn't need a motive to kill. It simply follows it's programming to the very end. It's not the motive of the robot itself, it's the motive of whoever reprogrammed to to kill Dr. Berner. As I mentioned earlier, one of your competitors could've murdered him in an effort to stop the Humbot project. It could've somone who murdered him out of spite. We've many theories. They just need to be narrowed down. Look." Tobias removed a small laptop. He accessed the Roboics mainframe. He spun the laptop to face Asu. "Last night, half an hour before Berner's murder, someone hacked into your mainframe and and infected your security system with a virus. One hour later, the virus disappeared. During that hour, your robots were temporarily unstable. I know because I was working desk duty at the police department, and we recieved thirty-four calls from people who were noticing slight glitches in their robots, all of which, are Roboics models. Coincidence?"
Bill sighed as he nodded at what he said. "Correct, there was a virus, and it did disappear because I was the one who personally fixed it. During the meantime, our robots would have been fine. Why? They are not linked up to the core of the building, not these lower models. Now if it had been the new models, "Humbot" I would have agreed, but I'm sorry officer, a robot may not break the laws! It can not! There have been many measures to counter if someone did manage to somehow reprogram the laws, there are somethings that even I don't know of. It can't be done, and as far as I'm concerned, this line of questioning is over." Bill headed for the door. "I have a project to run."
GM's note: This is not the beginning of the action! This is the set-up so that people know what the heck is going on. There is no reprogramming, and I'm getting tired of it. If I had wanted the action to start as soon as we started, I would have, but not now. If this continues, I'm going to be forced to shut this RP down, and I don't want to do that. I don't mean to be a bastard on this...

OOC: No offense to new members..
This entire RP is made of newbs. Newbs? Don't be so damn n00bish. The GM will specify when you can start the bloody robot killings. That is not now! Are you people just blind or something?
IC: Alex was in the room of the interview, under the guise of an old man. He was there to see what he could learn about the Humbot project for the government, and what he could learn about the robot murderer.
Incidentally, instead of just waiting for the report, Alex's superiors wanted to hear all of the nitty gritty right away.

"Well, then, Dr. Asu." Tobias pulled out a video tape. "This is from a security camera at the old abandoned factory on the outskirts of Boston. Tell me what you see." He inserted the tape into a nearby VCR and turned on the TV. The tape showed a Roboics robot leaping at and kicking Tobias in the chest right before being blown apart by the man's shotgun. Tobias paused the tape and pulled the robot's head from his duffel bag. It was still steaming. He pointed to the Roboics label on the robot's head, and then lifted his shirt to reveal a huge, foot-sized bruise on his chest. "One of your own robots attacked me, sir. This is direct violation of the three laws, of which I believe you are very familiar."
OOC: SS, what exactly is your definition of a noob compared to that of the rest of us, or at least myself?
EDIT: Dammit. *smacks self in head with chair* God, I'm a dumbass!
GM's note: (I like putting that...) It's ok... I didn't want it to happen this early in the game, so I'm willing to over look the whole battle with the bots. You can just delete the posts and edit the last one if you wish... if not, then I will come up with something eventually...

Britomir sighed and looked down at the floor. He glanced quickly at his watch, then pushed away from the wall. "Well, I didn't come here to wait forever... I'm gonna go get some coffee. Want some?"

Jason nodded "Sure, why not? Beats hanging around here waiting for the fuzz to finish an irrational line of questioning."

Britomir smiled and walked over to a table that had a coffee machine on it. He poured himself a cup, along with some cream and a few packets of sugar. He took one sip, grimiced and put it down. "Ick.... Now i know why i drink Mt. Dew so much..."

In a desperate attempt to control his anger, Tobias extracted a business card from his pocket. "If you have any information. There's my number." He gathered his things and stormed out of the office. Back at the police station, he talked with some of his friends and fellows. "All of our viable evidence points to a robot- a Roboics model robot. The only question is: Why did it bypass the three laws to murder Berner? Each of our theories is more unlikely than the next, and Roboics is our only lead. They've denied everything." Tobias said to them. "We could just get a warrant and look for it ourselves." one of his companions suggested. "No. We need more evidence, and even more importantly, we need a culprit."
Bill took a breath as the cop stormed out of his office. He took a breath as he looked to the card. "Tobias, huh? Why do I have the feeling I'm going to call you later on in life? I have a bad feeling about this." But a robot killing a human? That is impossilbe, I'm sorry, but it is! there is no way in hell that it could happen. I'm going to have to look into the fight between him and the robot, but even that is an impossiblity. He shook his head, took another deep breath and exited his door.
Seeing that htey had left off somewhere, there was really only one place anyone was allowed to go when they had free time, back to their office, or the coffee room. Making his way there, he saw the two sitting at a table. "Please excuse me for that... It was nothing. nyway, as soon as you are done drinking, how about I show you the real pride and Joy of the "Humbot"!

Jason finished the last of his coffee and got up. "All right. Let's see what makes the Humbot special." he said.

Britomir rose from his seat, leaving his untouched coffee on the table.
"Yes, let us! I'm really excited to finally see it!"
GM's Note: Jag!? What did I just finish with you!? No making up stuff that alters the plot! I am the GM, and I have plans for that robot. One more strike, and I'm bootin' you. I'm bein' nice here... don't push me.

OOC: Dammit. Previous post has been deleted.
OOC: Sorry... I've been busy.
Bill grinned as he led the team out of the break room and down an elevator. "I guess I should explain a little more about this building. It's all run by robots. Well... an AI is prolly a better term. It's all run by Sheila." The group gave him an odd look. "I don't know either... Apparently Dr. Berner had this fascination from watching this web-series from the past. Whatever, it isn't important. Sheila?"
Before the group's eyes a vision appeared of a female's face in a cube. "How can I be of service Dr. Asu?"
"I would like you all to meet my team. This is Jason. He is making sure that I didn't screw up somewhere." He turned to his left, "And this is Britomir. He's in charge of making the heart as we so called it here."
"I have seen both of these people walk in, I'm glad that I have a chnce to meet them. You are working all working with Dr. Asu on the Humbot project?"
"Yes they are, I was wondering if we could head for the brain room."
"Brain room? Only authorized personal may go in there, such as Dr. Berner."
"Didn't you hear?"
"Yes, I did. So that would put you in charge, wouldn't it?"
Bill looked down, "I've wanted this position for a while, but I didn't want it to earn it this way."
"It's okay Dr. Asu, I'm sure he would be proud that you have taken the torch on this project."
"Thank you Sheila."
"It is my pleasure, the floor you requested Dr. Asu." The door opened before them as she disappeared from sight. "Have a nice day."
Bill took a step out and walked down a narrow hallway. He turned to a door marked "The Brain" turned around and grinned. "I have to admit, we people here at the lab have a bad sense of humor, but where we lack in comedy, we make up for it... in brains!" Turning around, he slid his key in, modified to let him enter. The door slid open as they all walked in. The room was scarted with parts about the head. There were drawings and actual skulls laying on a table in a corner. He walked over to a platform and punched in a code.
In a minute a blue floating orb came up from a tube into a metal frame. Picking it up he held it out to his friends. "See this? This is it, the brain of the Humbot. It's a small scale version of the one used here in the office building, but it works just the same. Just think of it as a giant hard drive, but capable of going speeds faster than any computer built, and even riviling that of a human's. This was Berner's proud and joy here."
He held it up for the group to see and admire. "I don't know that much about it, but if you want to ask anything, I'll see what I can do."

Jason nodded. "All right, seems pretty straightforward."
"All right. Good. I can't wait." He put the brain back in the tube and it lowered down. "Can you believe it? Next week is the start of this new campaign." As he shudders at the though in pure excitment. "Well enough of the demonstrations, we have work to do. Britomir, head up to level three and look for a door marked 3302. That's the heart room. They will be wanting an explination of your invention, and help installing it. Jason, you may use my office for the coding. All right people. Chop, chop!" He exited the lab and headed for his office.

OOC: What is Tobias supposed to do? I had an idea that because of his police connections, he would get a tour of your facility, but I wasn'y sure if that was crossing the line.

Hi, before I post a bio, and ask if I can join. Is this rp based off of the Books by Isaac Asimov, and or the movie I' Robot.

Ok delete that post above me, I know now this rp group is indeed based off of I'Robot the movie. I have posted a bio of my character in the Only robot sign up list. Hope Alisha can join. Let me know, or email me. Thanks.
Alisha.

Okay, I'll state all the things you did wrong.
1) Posted in the RP thread when you should've posted in the sign-up thread.
2) Double posted.
3) That's about it.
Simple rule to remember- Sign-up first. Wait to have the go-ahead, and then post in the RP.
If you're talking out of character, put OOC:
Now, reasons your character won't work.
1) This RP is dead.
2) She's a robot. We're trying to destroy robots.
3) You said more abilities would pop up as time went along. No one likes that. Hidden abilities generally are assumed to be cliched, and disliked because you can do anything you want.
So, stick around the RP forum if you want. Just remember that little thing about sign-up first.
And if you do keep around, keep up the good grammar. God we hate bad grammar.
