Well, RaiRai recently opened up this thread (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?t=5119) and Peo made a comment that got me thinking: wouldn't it be neat or interesting if our user stats contained more than, y'know, our number of posts and our average posts per day since joining? More specifically, where we stand in certain catagories that are accessed from the Members List. What number we are based on when we joined, our number of posts, by alphabet, etc. Just, more stats. Sure, we can use the actual Members List, but then we have to go through pages and pages until we find the member we want. And if we use the search option, well, that doesn't help since it doesn't provide a number.

Showed how to get numbers. Just make sure you have 'view status bar' selected for your browser.

But, you know how those generic free message boards show the member number in each post? Like they show the join date, post number, and location(and of course the avatar)? That's what I meant.

As long as you can see the address bar, you can view all those things.

Yeah, it would be kinda frivolous anyways. It doesn't matter what user number anyone is, honestly. Only thing I can see it resulting in is "Haw I joined before eight hundred people I am so cool".
No likey.

I'm more interested in what people write in their profiles themselves, which often is nothing. More trite numbers will serve little for me.

Hmm, I agree with synkr0nised. Although I admit that I was one of those with empty profiles. In my defence, this has now been changed.
On the other hand, it is nice being able to note how many posts I've made.
I must admit, I would like user stats, such as Otaku is suggesting. I don't hold them to be important, but I like useless information, such as my average number of posts per day, or the forum on which I have posted most often. It would be fun.
All in all, though, I agree that if post counts are scaring new people away, then the post count should be dropped (except perhaps for within the profile).
