Okay. I thought a different approach to poetry could be fun for some of us. This particular thread is dealing with run on poetry. Basically, one user starts off with something poetic and the next user continues on. So in the end you have a thread filled with one long poem. It can change in style, context, content and use whatever metaphors and formats you like. The only thing I would ask this time around is that the poem RHYMES. So have fun!

Within the blink of an eye
the day changes again
from sunshine and happiness
to saddness and rain

Perhaps this will change the way we see things
but that all depends on what next year brings
For the rain eventually will stop and the saddness as well
however if not we will spiral into a hell
For rivers will flood and change their own course
and drepression will run wild like a mad horse

But I know that some day
the sun will break through
the clouds will give way
and I will find you

through hills and valleys, green and blue
tempted by beauty, hope gleaming through
the greys of the clouds that lurk overhead
wishing for rainbows and sunsets of red
wild stallions that run through fields
not wanting to falter, never to yeild
these emotions are chaos within one so weak
dare to open my eyes, yet alone lips to speak

a shimmer of hope from far up ahead
to climb up the slope escaping from dread
to look down below and see what you've done
proceed with a glow, a feeling you've won
now you surge on forth to seek out your heart
east west south and north, just finding the start
to build up a life complete in yourself
leave always the strife behind on the shelf

But take with you your hopes and dreams
They will give you comfort from life's morbid scream
Trust in what you all ready know is true
Listen to experience old and new
No matter how rocky the road is don't give into despair
Gain faith from family, friends or say a silent prayer
when the sun goes down remember the day
the time when the sun brightens your day
bring with you that memory through times of woe
and it will lead you on down the road
and dont faulter when loved ones die
dont forget them and try to lie
just remember the times you had
and you know that would've made them glad

When night falls upon you darkling,
Don't falter your step or fear,
For free for all taking,
Your hope lies so near,
Power greater than darkness' mire,
Yet softer than light,
Warmer than fire,
Love returns sight,

for even such grief is a portion of life
it is joy which lends purpose to strife
if all that were known were happier things
gone are these passionate, melancholy strings
a song born from sorrow, fathered by loss
release felt when angered, whenever grown cross
do not hate sadness, for it is the canvas
upon which is drawn by a masters hand this
delicate portrait of beauty and wonder

The Midnight sky is lit before you
Filled with wonder and amazement all for view
It is your cloak, hood and vale
Laced with diamonds and shown in detail
Giving you concealment from what the daylight brings
But still providing a guiding light with moon silver wings
This is life that can be so pure
It is the anesthetic, a temporary cure
Even wounds that run very deep
Can be healed with night's blissful sleep
