Anyone who remembers M.U.G.E.N. knows it was a custom fighting game program. You could pit any character that someone ripped and/or programmed for it against another character. So, you could make your own Marvel vs Capcom vs SNK vs Etc. fighting game, provided the characters you wanted were available on the Internet. But, Elecbyte, the people making M.U.G.E.N., just up and left one day, and Windows XP users who wanted to use M.U.G.E.N. were screwed because M.U.G.E.N. was DOS-based, and XP just had general over-all trouble with M.U.G.E.N. Well, not any more. Someone has made a port of the Linux version for Windows XP.

And it's available here (http://www.attic7.com/unofficial/). And there's a bug patch available here (http://www.aitaii.com/unofficial/maybe_fixed.zip).

So, for veterans of M.U.G.E.N. and newbies alike, feel free to use this thread to discuss M.U.G.E.N.

Thats great and I'd like to start using it again. The only problem is I stopped using Mugen not because I got XP, but because the development crew stopped updating it. It was just too hard to set up, even with all the help programs that were made on the side.

Someone needs to take up the Mugen program again and make it more user friendly so people who aren't game programmers can put all the characters and stages together. And maybe make a graphics editor so we can make our own menus and such more easily and not just have ripped ones from games that we have to fit the characters to by trial and error. Kind of like RPG Maker but with more freedom.

I wonder if anyone will ever take up the Mugen development again.
