I notice that I sit here at nights, just waiting for people to post something interesting. While I was waiting tonight, I started to Rapidly click the "Top" button for quite a while. Is this a serious problem? Do I need a shrink?

Peo, between us, I think this thread'll be closed once Lydia wakes up or shiney gets home from work. In the mean time, though, if you're so bored then do something for a while. That's how I usually wind up having "Last Activity: Veiwing Forum Index" for about an hour or so. I keep the window open, but I do other stuff to busy myself.

Now, on-topic, the human mind is supposed to be creative, so I'm sure boredom can lead to insanity. I often find myself at banquets and other formal speeches&dinners playing with my food while some fool talks at the podeum.

And what's this "Top" button anyway?

Its the button at the bottom that makes the page go back to the top

I've known that for a long time actualy. I dont think that man should be left alone (with nothing to do) for more than an hour at a time.

I don't know about an hour, but boredom can definitely lead to some, er, "erratic" behaviour. Don't worry, Peo, you don't need professional help. Amatuer help, maybe... (in my best (read worst) german accent) and how does that make you feel? :D

Do you click on the button, then scroll all the way down and click on it again? Over and over? If so, you definitely need some entertainment.

ON the plus side, at least insanity reduces the boredom! :D

Eh, this topic isn't that bad. It could turn into a discussion of how people alleviate their own boredom.

No masturbation jokes!

Alleviating boredom...

I like to find a book to read, take a walk, or watch tv. Most of all, however, nothing deals with boredom like playing a good game (mostly computer games for me). I don't know about anyone else, but I find it very hard to be creative when bored, so that's one thing that rarely helps.

Of course, if I'm anywhere near a 'net connection, surfing the net, and especially these forums, helps a lot. Especially when I encounter new games :D. On that note, a good, small, game which is really fun is N (http://www.harveycartel.org/metanet/n.html). This has to be one of the best Flash games that I've ever come across, with amazing physics and great gameplay. The fact that you play a ninja who can jump up walls (jump off of the wall, which carries you up. Turn in mid-air to move towards the wall, and repeat) certainly doesn't hurt!

To relieve boredom, just default to...oh, no masturbation jokes.

Uhm...read a few comics archives, watch really bad late night infomercials, learn a new language you'll never need(even better, get those plans started to make all the infidels on Earth speak American English), make really bad fanfictions, get a mask and just walk around the neighborhood with a really rusty kitchen knife.

Lotsa stuff.

Not to mention plotting to take over the world!

You'd be amazed at how entertaining plotting world domination can be :D.

Do I need a shrink?

No, but another hobby might be a good idea.

Well, I think the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, so as long as you never expected the top to change (excepting for different ads or whatever) then you're ok.

Also, if you're that bored just take a nap or go to sleep.

Eating always gets rid of boredom for me. Or I just run for a really long time until I'm too tired to be bored. I really try hard not to be bored. That is the worst thing in the world to be.

I read whatever book I happen to be reading. This causes problems during school, since I find myself bored very easily while my teachers are rambling on about stuff that I already know.

I have about 50 zillion webcomics that I read, and I look for more when that dosen't satisfy me. That, and I'm trying to learn html. Well, I probably should move up to learning pvp or something, but I don't wanna!

So, yeah. That's what keeps me from getting bored late at night. That and drawing. I draw at 4 in the morning with no light but that which comes from the tv.

The scary thing is nothing happens when I click the top button. Mayber it's just my browser.

To alleviate bordom I usually end up working on some chainmail, the armor, project. That is if I still have enough wire left. That or a sharpen one of my swords. If all else fails I'll try to shoot flies with my blow gun. Sometimes the darts are a little hard to get out of the walls though. I used to read but I finished a 3 book series, each over 300 pages, in a week. After that I didn't have enough money to get more books so I'm kinda up the creek on that one.
