My exact response to that was "OOH!* [Clap]". I had been thinking "My death was less sissy-esque than your death!"
Incidentally, no one ever did point out that reference in the linked comic. Does nobody else read the Fortuna Saga?
And congratulations on a 3000th post.
*The kind of "OOH!" when you see someone get owned, not when you see something shiny.

I think Fortuna Saga is still down because of that stupid Freewebs monthly bandwidth thing.
Great comics, everyone. Thought I'd just get that out of the way. Everyone says that.
I have a big future planned out ahead for my story arc. It'll probably involve Skyshot, Meister, Chicago, Qeeko, mammothtank, and anybody else who'd like to be featured (on top of that, there will also be Rick yelling "Stop stealing MY ideas!")
And phil_mike, I have nothing against you. I just wanted to use part of your storyline for my comic because hey, it sorta fits in to what's been happening with me.
I'll post another episode soon. It takes place between my last comic and phil_mike's last comic.

[...] (on top of that, there will also be Rick yelling "Stop stealing MY ideas!")Meh, while I try not to consciously steal anything, I can't claim to be very original...
Also, just a note to anyone using charcters who appear in my comic - I don't actually view my story as going on in the same continuity as everything else here. As such, I'd appreciate it if it were kept seperate. Mostly I'm just trying to keep things simple, but I'm also trying very hard not to break the fourth wall in my story and to do so I've kinda got a system of rules in place that govern how my world works. So yeah, I don't mind self-referencing stuff like the above - I just don't want it to be in my continuity. I hope this doesn't come off as hard-assed or self centered. I'd just appreciate the opportunity to try my idea out. That's not to say I'm not open to any contributions to my arc, as long as it's run by me first. Demon, in fact, has something up his sleeve that I can't wait to see...

Wait, no, that's superliminal! Abort! Abort![/vague Simpsons reference]
Also, FW, good job. I was wondering how you would end that joke; in fact, I originally intended it to be a one-shot, non-continuity thing since it would be hard to follow up on. Nevertheless, you seem to have handled it gracefully.

phil_mike- I love you.
Words cannot describe the true magnitude of my adoration for those comics. Every moment killed me. (I carry a phoenix down about my person for just these occasions.)
GC- The trumpet thing? Priceless. Who knew that the plot hole led straight to the underworld? Crazy old world, isn't it?
FenrisWolf- I loved watching Skyshot through the window. The details in your comic are fantastic! Keep up the great work!
Mammothtank- Where do you find your backgrounds? They're awesome!
Note- I'm going to be offline from the 3rd to probably the 11th (vacation!) so this area will be pleasantly Mauve-free for an entire week. WOULD YOU STOP CHEERING?! I GET IT ALREADY! I need the break to refill my funniness reserves. OH- and for you folks who PMed me about what the bleep was going on in the last episode of Finding Meister: It was called "Inside Jokes" for a reason. I was thinking for a bit about a few strips I'd like to make, and I was just wondering who here takes some sort of martial arts class.
If you take one, please say what it is and refer me to a sprite of you in martial arts gear.
If you have no such sprites, I can mess with what I can find and see what can be done.
So far, I've got:
Tae Kwon Do
Newb (tkd sprites done)
Phil (no tkd sprites, other sprites in sprite thread)
Mike (no tkd sprites, other sprites in sprite thread)
Druidal (tkd sprites done)

I've studied various martial arts -- TKD, Hapkido, US Special Forces Hand-to-hand, English...no such sprite, though. If anyone wants to make one for me, go ahead and I'll subpixelate it.
Anyways, guess I'm up for whatever you're planning.
Great Cartoonist
08-06-2005, 06:47 AM
I don't know... can swordplay be considered martial arts? Probably not, so just try to imagine me getting River City Ransom on someone's fleshy behind. (Actually, Technos Samurai has a lot more moves that are cooler than RCR. Examples: The flying spin kick from Double Dragon [yes, it's in TS too!], Mach Punch II [The equivalent of Stone Hands from RCR, with an uppercut at the end instead of a normal punch])
See what you can do about making a sprite of me doing karate, because I don't have said sprite.
Also, I'm surprised no one found the hidden joke in my latest not-regular comic yet. I'm rather disappointed in you, Skyshot.

Yeah, I guess I better enlighten you all. I hid a silhouette of Skyshot in the bottom-right corner of my comic, hoping that it would surprise everyone when someone eventually finds it. Bleh.
Just copy the image onto your hard drive, open it with whatever paint tool, and use a fill color on the bottom black part of the comic.
P.S.: I do know where you are hidden in your revenge against AJ comic, I just don't wanna tell the rest of the forumites so they'd try to find it too.
P.S. (again): It took me 20 minutes to find Cat's sprite sheet. I had to look in the Slightly Out of Order website.

Lovely. Now everytime anyone makes a comic, I'm gonna have to check for someone putting me in it.
Hey, it'd be like Where's Waldo, only with Skyshot, and a different way of hiding the character, and a different audience, and a host of other things. Ya know, you have to feel sorry for Waldo. phil_mike, would you believe me if I told you I had toyed with the idea of burying you in the dead topic repository and bringing you back as zombies for one episode of Finding Meister? Reading that comic was creepy. Funny as hell (no pun intended), yet creepy. And the video game comic was so perfect. Oh, if I had a gamecube I'd come back from the dead for LOZ, no hesitations. Alas, I have a PS2. That means I have Kingdom Hearts 2 to live for. Kind of sad, really. When I first saw the two coins, I thought Phil was holding out to cross the river Styx because hell had a game arcade or something. (My computer loads pictures VERY SLOWLY, so I had quite a while between seeing the coins and seeing the last panel to figure out what might happen.)
GC- Ha! I feel so smart, what with being able to find all those super-secret hidden messages. I like where the plot is going, too. The virus cracks me up.
FenrisWolf- O.....M.....G....... This is AWESOME! Sheez, I'm offline one day and when I come back I find about four different comics, all of them oozing with teh funneh. How do you manage??
Also- Where's RickZarber? I haven't heard from him since I left on vacation. Are you still here, Rick? You can't leave me hanging on that cliffhanger, man. I need to know who the shadowy figure is! :p
Lastly, for anyone who cares- The next episode of Finding Meister is coming soon. Sorry it's taking so long; I got writer's block for the past few days. I have a question, do you even HAVE any time to work on your comic, because it's been ages since the last update. Sorry to nag, but I'm getting impatient. They're just too damn good!
And you haven't updated your website for a long time.Yeah, sorry, I've been on hiatus. For one thing, I found myself with horrible writer's block. For another, I've been on a really bad schedule lately, (like 4am-2pm), and it's really screwing up my life. Unfortunately, I have a habit to start working on these comics at like 9-11pm. And since they generally take 2-3 hours... So I told myself that until I got my shit straightened out I'd refrain from doing that.
And I HAVE figured out who the shadowy figure is. If you absolutely must know, PM me. I will tell you. If I feel like it. :p

I'll probably include you too, Mauve.
Now for an announcement: By Sunday I will be going on vacation, like Mauve Mage and Brian Clevinger, to visit my grandparents and other relatives for the rest of August. That means that I probably won't be able to upload any new comics, because the place where I'm staying (my grandparents') has a shoddy AOL dial-up connection and I'll be probably seeing my cousins. So I've posted 2 new episodes for you to enjoy for now. The premise is that it's gonna be something like a Neopets thing: two sides are recruiting members and they are both fighting to see who will be the winner. Yeah, that's the best I can explain it.
On the plus side, I may be able to continue work on my game since there is no Maple Story to distract me there.
Also, there are a couple of things you can probably do to fill the void:
1: You can post comics that are related to my storyline. It can be about anything about my storyline, I don't mind, in fact I welcome it. BUT DON'T DO THE ENDING! I'm going to do that! And make sure your comics are good. If you think it sucks, don't post it.
2: (for Chicago/Qeeko/anyone who's got some artistic talent only) You can post artwork related to me, my storyline, and my characters. I'm sure Chicago or Qeeko would like to do the "Doll is a Lamia" scene at the end of Episode 8. See #1 for the same rules.
3: Post your own comics.
4: Play Maple Story, 'cause I sure won't be.
5: Read the other threads on this forum.
6: Go do something useful, like going to work.
Anyway, that's all for now. If I'm lucky I'll probably post something while I'm on vacation.

Come to think of it, that would be interesting -- pitting member v. member in various arena-type comics. There'd have to be alternative endings, though, just in the interest of fair play. For instance, in me versus anyone, there'd be two endings -- one depicting my victory, and another one to depict another victory on my part! Badum-psh! Or whatever.

08-16-2005, 05:19 PM
Now, a serious query to the members of my comic who are getting their own rooms at the temple. These rooms will most likely be used multiple times throughout the story. I would highly appreciate it if you were to PM me with your requests as to how your room is. Inbred, this also applies to you. The stable was merely a joke to tie the comic together. Or was it? Yeah. It was. Maybe.
Now, on a less serious note: That was hilarious, phil_mike. Nice set-up for the gag.

Hah, that was good, Patrat. Your addition to the story has proved most useful because I was stuck in my own plot. I needed a reason for Loyal to actually pull off the planned heist. This'll come in handy. Thankees. I don't mind people adding to my story, as long they only do one episode. (I really do have a storyline planned, even though it may not seem like it.) For the most part, I'd appreciate it if people pm me before making a direct addition to Finding Meister. I don't mind if anyone uses my sprite or makes jokes at my storyline in their own comic series, but I'd like to know ahead of time before anyone makes changes to my own cartoon. But don't erase that one, Patrat; it was funny and it'll help move my own plot along.

Just one thing; you could also host the "Get Mauve Mage" story arch on the Finding Meister website if by chance some non-NPFers go on to your site.

If I know what you are talking about, and I think I do, I cannot find the old comics. I think they were in the old forums. I have read the entire thread.
EDIT: Nevermind. I just didn't realize that they were a series, or I didn't remember them. Credit to Skyshot for pointing them out.
WOAH! I just noticed I have a picture on Mauve's Wall!
*Does the happy dance* :p
Rick: Excellent work, my friend. Who could this other party member be? Only time will tell. Or you, if we can manage to get you drugged. :p

RZ- Man, DB is so evil! I love it!
Only time will tell. Or you, if we can manage to get you drugged. I vote for option B! I'll hold him down, and you go get the syringe!
FW- The Kidnap Mauve comics weren't in the old forum- They started right after my first RPGeeks episode many many pages back. They didn't have titles or headlines, they just involved Meister scheming, Patrat foiling, and me being stupid. Don't worry about hunting them down if you don't want to; I'm planning on making an introductory comic for the website that'll explain some of the nonsense anyway.
On a different note, I think I might get back into some more RPGeeks comics now. I've got a whole new plot arc planned for Finding Meister as soon as I finish the "Great Heist" plot I just started, (The same-old-scenario is getting a bit tiresome, don't you agree?) but I've been getting some ideas for me, Demon and Dave to mess with in RPGeeks. God, what am I going to do when school starts back up? My comic life will be in shambles! SHAMBLES I SAY!

Ah, RPGeeks. Gotta love how I totally steefed the co-host spot from Dave.
I'm great like that.
And, in somewhat comic related news, I am the official president of the 'Mauve Mage Fan Club.'
Additionally, I am also the president of the 'Rick Zarber Fan Club,' and the 'BlackMageGirl! Fan Club.'
I also happen to be dating all three of them. Though the one has nothing to do with the other.
If anyone wants to make a 'Demon is the Filthy, Filthy Forum Whore Fan Club' be sure to inform me. Also, a 'Mothers against Demon with a Glass Hand' awareness group would probably be a good idea, too.

Dave is currently preparing to take a major spot in another comic. Stay tuned.

Meister, glad to see you have a series going.
That was an excellent opening strip. I wish my opening strip for my series was that good.

ZJ: Nice comic-making, reeeeally disturbing subject matter...

ZJ: Dude that is just.... priceless...
Meister: The added chirps were perfectly timed. Awesome man. Hiding in bushes can become a bad habit.

Yay, MeisterComics™! Personally, I liked the 8-bit sprites just a wee bit more.

Meister, that was awesome.
That even sounds like something she'd say, too.

Okay, I finished making the Skyshot Vs. Phil_Mike and the Calaca series webpages, but I grew too big for freewebs.
So, for a while, I won't be able to update. And, the Comics aren't hosted. I simply do not have enough room.
I will work post-haste to rectify this... unfortunate situation.

wow, phil, that's very different from the way I thought it would be (see how I avoided saying if I like it ;P ).
For those who can't tell, that's a pic of pirate mike, kinda a teaser for a series I'll be starting before too long. Just need to make some sprites.
Also, ZJ, do you plan to continue the story you started, or was that a one shot? Cause if it was a one shot, it's a very strange one.
So, for a while, I won't be able to update.
Does that mean you won't be posting in the comic thread? Couldn't you post here and move it to where ever you're going later?
I still love this thread. Keep up the good work, folks; I hope to join you in it soon.

Oh, I'm going to be posting in this thread, just as soon as I can come up with a decent plot for the next comic.
Meister: That is excellent. And I hate you now.
Stupid cliffhangers.... :p

Meister: That's fantastic. Truly. Also, we gonna get the neu-Meister sprite sheet any time soon?
I'm having trouble with the layout & dialogue in the next comic, but I hope to have it up sometime today.
