GHLK!!! No!! No spammy!!! If anyone wants to request, please do so here. My inbox is too cluttered and my crappy dial-up is too full of evilness to handle too many PMs at one time. I suppose if I was less lazy I could just clean out the seventy ancient messages i've got stored in there for no apparent reason, but that would be work, and I avoid that kind of thing when I'm here.

But I'm glad you liked it, MT!

I request too!!!

MB: An open oppurtunity to steal and who takes the chance? None other then Loyal... so I guess alcohol = good time?

I must admit I'm confused about the second-to-last panel, though.Ah, yeah, maybe that is a little confusing. The cavern you guys were in was made of wind. That is, the wind was holding the sand back to form the walls. By gaining control of the weather you stopped the wind. Thus the chamber fell in and crushed the temple boss.

Well, Mauve, if downloading AIM is a problem, you can always use Meebo (http://www29.meebo.com/). It'll give you a sign up for an AIM name and let you talk to the AIM people without downloading a thing. It's how Fenny and POS are ever on anymore, since they can't download it either.

[Edit] phil_: Monty Python reference! Woo!

phil_
08-03-2006, 01:15 AM
Reference? It's the whole durn comic!

And I'd like to note that this is almost definately the first time I've had an actual punchline at the end of my comic, as opposed to a slow trickle to a stop.

And, as long as I'm commenting on myself, I'll comment on Mauve's excellent rendition of Skyshot. No! her T-Rexcellent Skyshot...

It's right spiffy, especially the shading and folds in the cloak and robe. The face is expressive as always, and the pose is, for lack of better words, "action packed." I'd say it's my favorite of your requested portraits.

mauve

"Hydromancy" as opposed to "water-magic," or have you been looking at the file name?

Either way, _mike and I like "aquamancy," and "water-magic" fits the childish tone of most of my comics, so it'll stay switching between those, depending on the desired effect. At least for the most part.

Be glad I didn't go with "Mahou no mizu." Now that'd be something to question.

... Out of curiosity, why do you think 'hydromancy" is a better term?

P.S. Fenris, as they say in Metal Slug, "You're Great!" Thanks for fielding that one for me.

Oh, wait. Yeah, I got Mancy and Kinesis confused. I've been playing Rifts (Mind Melters have a power called Hydrokinesis which lets them control water. I was thinking it was Hydromancy) too much, but doesn't "hydro" mean it has something to do with water?

It does.

It's normally hydromancy but it's Phil_'s comic, and he can call it whatever he damn well pleases! :DD

But yeah, normally hydromancy, but it doesn't particularly add or take anything away from the comic.

Gasp, continuity from Phil?! XP Nice comics Phil. But seein' as I'm in charge of archiving, what's the series' official title? (For those of use who don't read Japanese.)

Mauve: Very impressive drawings. I love the dynamic poses. All my drawings always come off very stiff. I love the flowing look of yours. And I guess while you're at it I'll go ahead and put in a request for one...

I know it's been forever since I've done a JAQ, but I'm still trying to get back into the swing of having a job, so I've either had little-to-no time to work on it or have been totally exhausted. I have Saturday off, though, so I may try to do the next one then.

*sigh* I knew there would be some sort of backlash for this setup, but I didn't think it'd be the main focus of everyone's comments.

Let me explain that this is my fault. I wanted to do something to show that a distance was being traversed, so the original idea was to have the comic go in a line across the page. That's right; this comic was intended from the beginning to cause horizontal scrolling. This is because the new forum code allows single posts to be longer horizontally without stretching anyone else's post. Let me reemphasize that; no one else's post is streched. You can type without pressing enter and your lines of text will be the standard size.

If I can be honest for a second, I actually feel kind of insulted by that "ridiculously oriented" comment (not that I'm gonna hold it against you, just saying..). Just as phil_ started putting this comic together, I thought that it'd be visually interesting if the panels where we don't go anywhere were arranged vertically. This resulted in the "comic labyrinth" of three turns that mammothtank described.

I'd also like to point out again that you guys can thank phil_'s skill at compressing files without damaging image quality for this comic being a quarter of the file size it originally was. I'd understand if you were upset over having to wait for this artsy abortion of conventions of member comics, but this thing should have just popped up for most of you.

I promise we won't do this again, but seeing as this comic series has no point, I thought it'd be nice if they didn't look like every other comic that has ever been in this thread. Trying to prevent stagnation and all that... (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showpost.php?p=290241&postcount=479)

EDIT: Oh, and phil_'s gonna change this one into a thumbnail like the last one.

While I'm changing this, I have a question. If I make all my comics into thumbnail links, would you guys be okay with me using infinite canvas techniques, or should I just cut it out?

EDIT: Oh, and _mike says he knows you guys didn't mean any offense, he just felt that certain critisisms were a bit harsher than they needed to be. He also finds it amusing that it took Major Blood only seconds to express his hatred of us both.

Oh god! It's forum comic drama! Get the fuck out while you still can!

But, that aside, Phil__Mike? I liked how it turned out. Also, for some stupid reason and not holding this to a single person here, what WOULD be the point in complaining about a comic that is given to you for free to amuse you? Just sayin', enjoy what you get and throw in teh politeness sometimes, along with the abrasive humor. You know, throw the joke out and give a humbs up or something.

Yes, I'm quite sure some things were jokes (Major Blood comes to mind), but had it not been people as tolerant as I know Phil_ and _Mike are, I dunno, it could've rubbed some wrong shoulders, you know?

I know I've got little room to talk on the subject (I had some badly taken, abrasive joke not the other day here that turned out stupidly drama filled and overreacted on both parts), but, you know, make a tad more friendly in its manner sometimes. (Oh god, she's playing dress up moderator! All the more reason to run!)

But, I'll stop preaching and start practicing now. >.>

Oh, and, uh, nice comic if I didn't say it already, Phil and Mike. You do this place proud. Variation's always a nice touch! <.<

Seriously though, while I'm not a fan of the infinite canvas, I've got nothin' but my own personal distaste against its use. It's their own comic, they can do whatever they damn well please with it. Hell, the anti-horizontal scrolling sentiment comes mostly out of laziness anyways. And I can't say anything about the file's size seein' as I regularly upload JAQs of about that size. On a seperate note, those backgrounds work really well, guys.

Adghar: O.o ...Just... O.o

Fenris: Heheh, that thiefy bastard...

Just FYI, I've finally got over my writers block and wrote the next 8 JAQs. So that means the next one will be soon, and no more month-long waits in between them. Your comic style is great. I've been meaning to comment on this for some time. You can really see how your experience with film and framing comes out in your work-- I love all the different shot angles and lighting you use. Satan's Onion, I like the Charlie Brown house, as well as the insight into how you talk (makes my life easier).

Mauve, the pose, expression, coloring, and sword are like an awesome-sunday. Note the hyphen, as that means it's not a sunday with awesome qualities, but a sunday made of awesome. Can't help but miss the detective comics, though...

POS, perhaps it could do with a brushed-metal look, though that's a bit cliched. Still, it screams "heartless corporation," so it's a fitting logo.

ZJ, the sketchy line art and airbrush almost make it look like a kid's first try at Photoshop, but your great skill has overcome that to make it, overall, a rather artistic and original image of Mauve. Also, I like the face. It's kinda expressionist, with the eye hanging in space beyond her profile. The glasses are a good touch, too. I'd say you've succeeded in making this unique among your drawings.

Also, if ya need a spare character, I'm quite the available. I don't get enough airtime in Garud's comic for my vain selfcentred needs.

ZJ, thanks for the birthday present. And yes, I am short.

It's weird. Mike and I don't really look short until you stand next to us. It's like we have this spacial anomaly in a five-foot diameter that makes folks taller or something.

Regardless, I am a hobbit. A fuzzy-faced, scuzzy hobbit.

Oh, and I look foward to this prank war, +1 Name. Should be funny.

It's Skyshot's fault, Pyros! He came up with the "reverse-summoning" idea, I just held myself to it.

Flare, you could summon the Yellow Pages of the universe too if you took Summoner as a subjob. But then, you already have quite a few jobs... When did you get a job at H.I.S.S.?

I totally agree, mammoth.
Not that Melfice wasn't badass to start with... =P

Anyways, it's been made into a desktop wallpaper.
I took the gamble, and let Windows resize the original drawing, and guess what? It looks perfect.

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/747/melficedesktopka2.th.png (http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=melficedesktopka2.png)

Did change the background colour... that white would eventually burn my eyes off. ^_^
In the process, your signature came off, but I fixed that by adding your sprite in the bottom right corner.

EDIT:Also note that nearly all pictograms on the desktop, save for Morrowind and OpenTTD, are my younger brother's.
EDIT: And it's been adapted to an avatar as well.

I'm so far behind in comments that I won't even try to catch up. Let it just be known that everyone's comics and drawings rock to the very upper limit of rocking things. Like, more than a rocking chair.

Wow. It's so weird seeing my stuff being used as wallpapers and avatars and whatnot. Weird and AWESOME! I feel so special! *sniffle*

And thanks for giving me credit with the sprite. I'm kinda internet paranoid, to tell the truth, and I'm always afraid that somehow putting my drawings up, as cheezy as they are, will someohow end up a mistake. I'm really flattered that people are using them as avatars, though. I'm cool with that, but I don't want people.. i dunno... runing them off the copy machine and handing them out to everyone they know. (I've had some bad experiences.) But I have a feeling that nobody here would do that.

And, with your permission... maybe I'll use that armour design in a future character. Fine by me. I didn't invent it, in all honesty. I based it off a picture I saw a while ago, and I modified it a little. But sure, go ahead and use it! ^^

I think Mauve has the Badass Touch. You know, kinda like the Midas Touch? Everything made by her hand turns out badass. Hehehe... Now I have the "Goldfinger" theme song stuck in my head:

"Mauve Maaaage.... The mage with the badass touch!!"
