Good Job Totsu! ^^

And thank you as well.

WHEEEE! My very own Chris Jericho, with which I can use to sick on people when they piss me off; or at least bad mouth them when I am slightly annoyed. :P

I couldn't think of a better master than SAAM :D

Very nice work Totsu, tommy likey. ^^

Now that I have a sprite sheet, I can start work on some comics, but first I need to know what font to use so that it shows up properly so that I don't have to do each letter by hand, and also I will need permissions for sprite sheets.

Right now I have a couple of gags in mind that don't require specific people, so the first few volunteers will be used.

*steps backwards*

darn my automatic reactions!

mammothtank
02-10-2005, 09:04 PM
I'll volunteer! And as for what font to use, Dynamite and I use Arial, 8pt. font size.

The Kneumatic Pnight

I volunteer however uselessly it may be.

ApathyMan

Sure, I'll volunteer. Sprite sheet is here. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/ApathyMan/ApathyMan8.png)

Newb: You can use my sprite sheet if you like. Also as to the font...If I remeber correctly I used arial 10pt and it worked fine

Bailey
02-10-2005, 10:31 PM
ahhhh! enough volunteers for now!

I may not even get around to all of you this week, but I will try

also, could you experienced comic makers give me some advice on how to improve?

Mr. Viewtiful
02-11-2005, 01:03 AM
You did pretty well for your first try, Newb.

However, it does need some work. The way you structured the comic, you could easily tell who was speaking, but it'd still be a good idea to draw in word bubbles/speech balloons. Also, be sure to find some other spritesheets and use that for gunshois, explosions, etc. since they're better than most done by hand.

Here's a page with guides (http://www.bobandgeorge.com/Other/Guides/index.html) that'll show you all the tricks of the trade.

Good luck!

Bailey

Which reminds me; I have a comic of my own to update...

"You bastards!"

Masterly. Also the part where Cloud got smothered by Tifa's chest. Keep up the good work Archmage of Villany (also known as Dragonsbane). I'm looking forward to part two.

To anyone who repped me for my recent comic, it didn't go through due to a forum glitch. Re-repping that post will work, however.

02-13-2005, 03:37 PM
Will the person who gave me negative rep, which I deserved incidentally, raise their hand? Thank you.

Sorry, I forgot about the "it has to be about forumites" clause. ^^' Sorry about that. Posts are deleted. But I'd still like to know who nega-repped me.

Very good indeed, everyone! :D

Spirit: Very cool indeed! I wonder how Krylo managed to carry the ball without hands...

Druid: I think that I commented on SOoO, but that is still very good indeed!

Totsu: An excellent gift idea for SAAM!

Newb: Excellent work! I especially like the spell site comic - that curse is definitely not nice!

Patrat: Very cool indeed! I liked the comic that you made for Shiney's birthday!

MammothTank: Excellent duels! Heh, I'd say that Spirit chose well...

Chicago: Classic, and excellent work to boot!

SAAM: *SNIGGER* A pun! A palpable pun!

Like stated before, my spritesheet is in the NPF sprite sheets thread. (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?t=7508) No weapons sprites, no magic images, but seeing your comics I think you can mangae without those.

So, yeah. There you have it.

I'd be hurt that you didn't mention me...but you already commented over AIM. =P

Patrat: Even though the text wasn't yours, the imaging was alright.

SAAM: Hilarious! For a moment, I thought that was Melfice, though...perhaps some swelling of the chest would have showed who it was?

Mammothtank: You make me laugh, a lot. Though it would be more like Totsu to distract you with anime at competitive prices, an old-fashioned beating with a good line or two is always classic! I wonder how Spirit of Vengeance kept those weapons floating in the air, however?

Newb: Depending on whether or not you want that green character to still be alive by the end of the next comic (assuming he doesn't have some way of avoiding death-by-big-spells) I have some dialogue for the last panel.

Dragonsbane: "You sit, I'll Nuke it."

I wonder how Spirit of Vengeance kept those weapons floating in the air, however? No, that wouldn't work. I'm not an anime fan, not in the least.
Why were the weapons floating? So that they would all be visible and within reach.

I'll work on the ApathyMan and Melfice battles later.

Actually, it doesn't mean you're a noob, it means that you don't have enough material to make you into a personality, leaving us with mostly guesswork at what your character would be like, which is why most people go to the default of "noob" which is basically a 12 year old AOLer.

02-16-2005, 10:12 AM

Dragonsbane
02-16-2005, 10:54 AM
Sadly, many of the n00bs here act like 12-year old AOLers. For the record, many of them use browsers other than AOL...the term AOLer just has meaning of its own.

At least you can spell, DBS. That's more than most of them even attempt

SAAM, I hereby lable your comic the +5/+5 Comic of Awesomeness.

And speaking of comics, I finally posted some of my own. More fun in the caves with QueenQeeko in Blossoming Plotline, my (blind?) date begins with Flarecobra ["I hope I got her personality accurate."], and the hopefully hilarious conclusion to Cover Those Slits!. If I can get into a pattern of doing new chapters for those one time a week, I've got no excuses except that I was just lazy.

But now that I finished one, I wonder what I should do next? Probably random stuff, and for that, I've got a good idea. Hee hee hee...

Astral Harmony

The gold coloring makes it look much older than it really is. Kinda like it's on an ancient papyrus scroll, warning of doom. Or something.

Dragonsbane
02-19-2005, 05:41 PM
I also like the gold, it makes it look ancient and mystical, like an illustration in some long-lost book of arcane lore.

The picture is awesome, I feel...sexy. Very sexy. As for the Bronze Dragon I'm summoning...that's a great touch. You are an incredibly talented artist, Sephysama! :D

Quick question, everyone.

I have decided to abandon my Mammothtank Vs. comic strip in favor of reviving Dynamite220's old comic. The first one is done, but since it's in .bmp form, the file is so enormous that ImageShack can't support it. Can anyone tell me how to turn it into a .png file or something similar that isn't quite so huge?

Mr. Viewtiful
03-05-2005, 10:48 PM
Open your comic, go to "Save As..."

Then change the little window where it says ".bmp," and click the drag-down thingie. Select ".png," and you should be good to go!

Yes, Nice one, Patrat! :D

Speaking of which, your Viceroy picture was excellent, especially compared to your earlier stuff.

As soon as the viruses, worms, trojans, spy/ad ware, etc. are excorcised from my computer, I'll make a comic. I thought of something funny.

Dante, that CelesJessa pic was impossible to tear my eyes away from. I tried, but was staring at it for a good ten minutes, before I managed to stop my jaw dropping open and pinch my nose, thereby blacking out and falling to the floor. [/Dramatization]
However, it was really, really good. The words were perfect for it, too!

I'm digging these campaign posters, guys. As my friend Mike would say, they're kickin' rad!

My god... I've [indirectly] created a monster... I think I deserve a pat on the back!

As for what I'm doing, I am throwing around ideas for comics I can do relating to the NPF community. However, the fact that March is the absolute WORST month for me do begin a community project, I think I'll just continue working on all my own sprites until my schedule opens up (Currently (or rather, gradually) working on 16-bit ApathyMan sprites - Final Fantasy VI style).

Are you guys trying to tell me something?
My comics of late have gone largely unnoticed. It feels like I'm being ignored; no comments, no praise, not even criticism. If you like my comics, then tell me so that I have a reason to make more. If you don't, then say that as well so I know I should quit. If my comics are bad, I'd rather receive criticism than nothing at all.
I'm not usually like this - it's just that I feel like everyone's holding back their criticism in an attempt to save my feelings.

On a lighter note: Chicago, that's so strange it's funny.

MasterOfMagic

Chicago. I normally keep a eye on these comics, and never say a word about them. They eat my brain, and turn it into poopie.
But you have bludgeoned me with your comics, until I finally have no choice but to come out. I have one thing to say to you, and then I'll retreat back to me rock:

MammothTank, that is a very good comic indeed! Don't worry, I'm sure that your work is appreciated. :)
Qeeko, that is excellent artwork, as always. I especially like your rendering of DB. :)
Chicago, likewise, I can't help but admire the work that both of you do. It's also a very funny comic! You really should get more sleep, though...

WanderingActor

Don't worry Mammoth! If we hated you, you'd never sleep because of the hordes of flying monkeys rat-a-tat-tatting on your window every night! So rest easy.

Btw, I like your comics, and that's all that matters.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being completely overshadowed by people like QQ and Chicago. Not that I don't like their work, because I do.

The next one's ready - I'll go post it.

Trust me, dude, you have nothing to fear about being left in my shadow, because I'm nothing special. Chicago and I have both experienced the odd times when we post something and get few comments and other times where we receive alarming amounts. We both know how it feels, so don't think you're under appreciated, it just means there may not be many forumites online during those few days.

Myself I was kinda hoping for instance to get more comments on the Sonic styled forumites, and even a few suggestions as to what animal the other forumites would be (hinthint )if I wanted to keep drawing in this style to improve upon it.

I remember when Chicago posted shiney's birthday comic, and I think he was hoping for a somewhat bigger reaction for the effort he put in. Other forumites have probably felt the same at times. Don't let it discourage you.

And before I forget, this is actually one of the funnier comics you've made. But how long and then my character will do more thna talk? :p

Flarecobra

Those were pretty cool, but they looked a little light. Course that might just be my computer, but they were still cool.

And out of curiosity, what would you do for forumites such as CT? Make them more furry?

Great job everyone! They all look awesome.

However, an honourable mention goes to QQ. I've never seen DB look so Foxy! *rimshot*

And Chicago, me hopes that isn't a shot at MSPaint, it's all some of us have. *Clings despiratelly to MSPaint*

And before I forget, this is actually one of the funnier comics you've made. But how long and then my character will do more thna talk? :p There won't be more action until #14 or #15; I already have #13 done and it's all dialogue. Don't worry, you'll see some action soon; a nasty boss from an 8-bit classic will put in an appearance.
Thanks for the confidence boost, by the way, and I do like your sketches.

I already said it, but I think QQ r0x0rs teh awesome b0x0rs I wear! In fact, she may be my favorite artist I've ever known! (and I know plenty. Ever heard of Monet?)

Sithdarth
03-16-2005, 12:37 AM
I think what SAAM was getting at was that the iron in is blood is what the machine effected. Which would cause Oster to infact explode from the inside which is much worse than being subjected to an exterior explosion.

Other than that good comics all.

(Why do I always feel like I'm giving a lecture?)

Melfice

Yep... imagine a really bad indigestion(sp?), only a million times worse. That's being blown up from the inside. And it serves Oster well, always stabbing people... Just kidding Oster! Truly!

Anyway, truly good comics people! Chicago, yours made me laugh so hard I got kicked out of the computer room at school.

Well you are wrong. The awesomeness (I say, that is a dumb word) of SAAM's comic however has made me come here and actually comment on it.

So that means you people are doomed the next time I see you. Prepare to have a slow stabbity death. And believe me I know how that death feels, and it aint nice! Your comic rocks SAAM. And I love you all.

Actually it's a little worse than that. Imagine Imploding at the exact same time as you explode. Essentially, the iron in Oster's blood, as well as in his head (:p) broke down on a sub-atomic level, releasing an incredible amount of Neutrinos which flew away from his body. At the same time, this breakdown would have caused all of Osters outer layers to rush inward in an implosion, except when this wave of outer fleshy parts hits the wave of solid neutrinos, Oster go BOOM!

Gentlemen...BEHOLD!! I have crafted a 30-panel monster of a comic! Yeah, I've bragged about NPFXBV long enough and it was definitely time to show something for it. Astral Harmony

I'll at least think about trying it, but first I want to finish the date with Flarecobra and Blossoming Plotline.

Rairai, and even Shiney if I think about it, could make appearances, but Rairai won't be donning a bikini. At least, not unless I get full permission from the both of them, which I doubt is possible.

That leaves, aside from Armored Bishoujo, six girls with sprite sheets. Batgirl, BlackMageGirl, Cat, CelesJessa, Flarecobra, and QueenQeeko are all that I know of. I'd like to get permission from each of them before I even go into sprite editing. If they could edit their own sprites with bikinis, even better.

It won't be just about the girls, either. The way I'm looking at it right now, it'll barely be about volleyball. More so about wackiness. I love wackiness. Wacky things are easy to think up. Anyways, about it not just being about the girls. I do intend to have men involved, usually for perverted reasons but not always.

So far, that's all I can make guesses at. It definitely shows promise.

SAAM it's like you read my mind. Some time ago I had an idea for an expirement that would probablly have ended up destroying at the very least the better part of a galaxy. For awhile I couldn't decide if it was worth trying later in life just to see if I could really destroy that much. I finally decided I should probably stay away from turning it on but perhasp testing it on a smaller scale and then building the bigger machine would be enough.

I should really try my hand at NPF comics but I have to find a style I like first. Even then it probably won't be on par with the stuff that's been posted.

If not... :(
Yeah, I did say that, because I'm doing it. But CG linearting those first 4 broke the monotomy.

Newb: Very good indeed - I don't blame Patrat for not wanting to approach BobII... :)

Meister: Hilarious! Heh, one must certainly be careful with the poking! :D

MammothTank: Heh, very good indeed! Well, he can at least deliver a "splintering" attack...

SAAM: Hilarious, as always! :D Heh, I'll admit, I love your comics!

And last but certainly not least:

Actually, I'd say that it rocks rather more... :)

Yeeeaaaarrggh!!!! #@$%#!!!

I spent 5+ hours working on my first NPF comic and not only does the scan come out horrid (had to walk three blocks in the rain to scan it...), but the paper got wet and everything smeared!!!

Here's one bit of it I was able to salvage:
http://www.geocities.com/rickzarber/bobandpat.JPG

If I can re-tool it, fix it up, and actually get a good scan, I'll certainly try. But it doesn't take precidence over all the work I need to get done, unfortunately...

ARGH!

EDIT: The Day is Savéd!

Your lineart is quite good, and I'm eager to see what other forumites will look like.

CJ: I haven't seen much of Crystal Chronicles; what's so addictive about it?

I'm not really addicted to it, (but I do get obsessed with games easily) I've just been playing it a lot with my brother. It's kind of cool to be able to do a dungeon and work together with another person to make it through the game. And the Miasma streams are pretty cool looking.

Working on comic #2... It's fuggin' huge. Not only will you see The Duel, but also 30 seperate "characters" (28 of whom are NPF-ers). 10 panels. 3 pages. Since comic #1 took me 7 hours, I expect to have this one up by Sunday at the soonest.

And maybe a badger.
Woohoo! At least I have a chance, no matter how insignificant, of being in a comic!

And why the badger?
The lower jaw is articulated to the upper, by means of a transverse condyle firmly locked into a long cavity of the cranium, so that dislocation of the jaw is all but impossible. This enables the badger to maintain its hold with the utmost tenacity.

...

The badger's skill at digging has led to folk beliefs that the animal's paws give good luck in childbirth. The Pueblo people consider the badger great healers and believe them to be intimately connected to their shamans. Japanese legends include shapeshifting badgers.

The badger does not usually seek to attack, but, when driven to bay, its great muscular power and tough hide render it a formidable antagonist.
