John Cena is pretty g@y now.

It's funny to see that he's the only guy there that acts, like that, in WWE.

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:02 PM
I think he is the only one that could pull it off. Couldn't see the Hurracain trying that and the crowd not laughing thier ass off.

slightly aboveaverage man
10-10-2004, 08:03 PM
I always thought he was pretty retarded. Every time he did the "word Life" pose I wanted to snap his pinkies off.

Personally, my fave is Chris Jericho, followed by The Hurricane. I was so happy when Y2J got the Intercontinental title for a 7th time.

And people still laugh their asses off at the hurricane, though he does it intentionally. who can't laugh every time he yells "Whassup wit dat!?" or "Biatch!"

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 08:04 PM
OK, um, where to start. No real preference between RAW and Smackdown. Although RAW seems to have a better roster. I actually haven't seen a Heat or Velocity (that is, a weekend show) in years. Lately though, I've been pining away for those golden years of comedy. Remember Owen Hart? That man was comedy gold. I think last time I had a really good laugh was waaaaaaay back when Austin and Angle were trying to cheer up Vince with singing/guitar playing. That's all I'll say for now.

Edit: Yeah, I second Hurricane. He's just so cool! By the way, has anyone heard Jericho's band? Is it any good?

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:14 PM
Pretty good for what they are!

Raw seams to have TOO many top people and Smackdown need more top talent. I love the cruiserweights on Smackdown but they need some new top people, not just an new shaved Big Show. *shiver*

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 08:17 PM
Personally, I never really liked Big Show all that much. His style is too blunt, in my opinion. Back when he dropkicked people, though, wow. That was crazy.

*ahem*. Anyways, on another note, I wish they'd give Foley some useless position where he just sits on his ass and makes jokes. He's given enough of his body to this profession, but he's just too cool to be gone. Hm...useless position. Sounds like GM to me.

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:19 PM
Already did that one and it was great, but I think the time of Foley is now past.:(

BTW did anyone read Flair's book??

slightly aboveaverage man
10-10-2004, 08:23 PM
I'd rather dip myself in a bottle of his own grease. The only thing the Natcha' boy is good for is back body drops and throwing off the turnbuckle. :D

Edit:

And another thing, Big Show is Fucking Cool! The Showstopper is hilarious! the problem is that they haven't been using him to his full potential. He'd make an excellent WWE Champion, and his feudes with Taker were awesome. I just wish he'd bring back the Final Cut. He's always been a Heel, but you can tell that deep down he loves his job. Who else will come out dressed as Hulk Hogan or John Cena and mix it up using their own styles against them? the Big Show Freestyle, that was hilarious! And his feud with Eddie Gurrero! hah!

"I like Burritoes, I like Tacos, but I don't like you!"

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 08:25 PM
Um, yeah. I never really saw what was so good about Flair. Anyone here involved in that fantasy GM game thingy they have at wwe.com?

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:32 PM
I am *raises hand*

I am in 216th place as of right now and I still need to make my picks for next week!

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 08:34 PM
Cool. Anything we can do to help? I'd play misself, but I can't spare the moneys these days.

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:37 PM
If anyone can give me the results or the match card of the shows by Sunday. THAT would help me greatly!! Or anything that they think will happen to whom ever is great too. I do watch every Monday and Thursday to see if my picks did well. It is my only religion. :P

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 08:42 PM
Well, you can sort of get an edge on Smackdown with certain sites. I think wrestlingedge.com is still working. I'm pretty sure they get the Smackdown stuff on Tuesday when it actually happens. Or something like that.

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:45 PM
The only problem with that is that you only get to pick people up to the start of Raw on the east coast and 7pm on Monday. After that your picks are locked in for the week.

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 08:54 PM
Oh. Well dang. Smart on their part, but dang. Guess I'll have to start watchin' all the time again. Whee!

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 08:57 PM
I do anyways, plus I think I am hosting the Taboo Tuesday PPV at my house this time^_^ I love watching the PPVs with my friends. We always play Smackdown on the PS2 before and after the event. ^_^

Any predictions on the PPV?

EVILNess
10-10-2004, 10:00 PM
I honestly have ZERO respect for the WWE. Its the faux politics.

Don't get me wrong, I respect the wrestlers, and most of what they do you couldn't pay a stunt man to do, and enjoy a match here and there.

Don't get me started on how some people believe those conflicts are real. I swear, idiots. Mad props to the wrestlers though for being awesome athletes.

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 10:14 PM
I don't know why they have angles at all. I don't think anyone watches to find out "what happens next" or anything like that. And if there really are people left in the world that believe everything on the WWE is real, I haven't met them. If I did, I don't think I could stop laughing at them.

As for predictions, I think Triple H will keep the title. He's got a pretty good record with title matches. Orton should definitely win against Flair, and I'm thinking a Falls Count Anywhere. Jericho will keep the IC Title, or at least, I want him to. In Kain vs. Snitsky, I think Kain will win, using the chain. Chains are more interesting than your usual "beat'em over the head" weapons. I forgot what else was on there. Maybe I'll go check after I eats.

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 10:33 PM
I think it will be Randy vs. Flair in a cage. I think a falls count anywhere match is to boring for someone like Flair. Randy will win anyways. As for Kain vs. Snitsky I think the fans will vote steel chair. More fans are old fashioned that way. Again Kain would win. Got to say I love the chant from the crowd for Snitsky. "Baby Killer!!!" Classic. Now on to Triple H. If he drops it to Benoit, Micheals, or Edge. He need to get out of the buisness for awhile, because I don't want to see any of those people as champion. BTW you did know that Triple H is married to Vince McManhon's daughter?

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 11:01 PM
In real life? Wow. Who would've thought they would take the angle that far? Or rather, who would've thought they'd turn something like that into an angle? On another note, they really need to have a McMahon on both shows. At all times. They always make for great television.

Totsumanu
10-10-2004, 11:13 PM
Ya Shane-O-Mac need to be a fulltime wrestler! Every match he has done has been gold!

Viktor Von Russia
10-10-2004, 11:17 PM
Remember that one he had against Angle? Y'know, the one where it took Angle I think 3 tries to belly-to-belly him through that glass? Shane's a friggin' madman. He's already rich and he got his ass kicked about just 'cause. He's gotta be my favorite non-wrestler to ever um, wrestle.

Totsumanu
10-11-2004, 12:08 AM
Me too! Ya I remember that one with Angle. Almost broke his neck on those belly-to-belly suplexs.

I think when Shane gets bored he comes back to the ring to get hurt to be out again for a year. When your father owns the show you can do anything you want.

Viktor Von Russia
10-11-2004, 12:25 AM
When was the last time he stepped foot in the ring? I don't even remember anymore. Something else that's been bugging me. Is it just me, or has everyone Paul Heyman backed been essentially the same character? Some psychotic guy who keeps mauling everyone. It's getting old, in my opinion. They need to get more technical wraslers in there. Not so many hulking thugs, please!

Terex4
10-11-2004, 12:37 AM
I'd love to see a full time return of Shane. He's got the craziest elbow drop out there.

What does everyone think of the return of Gangrel and Viscera? I wanted to vomit when I saw them working for JBL. Blasphemy I tell you!

Totsumanu
10-11-2004, 02:06 AM
Gangrel had THE coolest intro in the business! The techno song and coming up out of fire, then spitting fake blood on everyone. Classic.^_^

Viktor Von Russia
10-11-2004, 11:29 PM
Actually, I think just about the entire former Ministry of Darkness has gone to hell. No pun intended. Just out of curiosty, what's everyone's favorite entrance music?

Terex4
10-12-2004, 01:11 AM
My favorite entrance music is The Undertaker's and Batista's.

slightly aboveaverage man
10-12-2004, 11:04 AM
Ohhh! tough one.

For all around gothic coolness it goes to Undertaker.

For headbangin glory it's RVD.

For scream your lungs off and throw up the horns, it's Kane

For dancing like an idiot it's Shawn Michaels.

For calm cool listening, Evolution.

For overall hilarity: the Hurricane.

For bitchinness: Chris Jericho

I have so many favorites.

As for Taboo Tuesday; there is a good chance that La Resistance will lose the title.
HHH will keep the WHC, after all, Trip losing the title only one month after winning it? I doubt it. Jericho has the same deal; he's had only one title defense, and almost all of the people coming after him are jobbers. Flair will lose if it's falls count anywhere. Randy Orton can't make anyone tap, and there have been a lot of Cage matches lately... I'm guessing cage.

HHH is probably going to keep the title until Survivor Series at the latest; I'm predicting they're going to have an Elimination Chamber match... or at least I hope.

Now here's a real question: who would be your dream match-ups in

1. Survivor Series 10-man tag match?
2. An elimination Chamber?
3. A Tables Ladders and Chairs match?

Death Dealer
10-12-2004, 11:18 AM
I used to be a major Goldberg fan back in the days of WCW, but I actually don't keep up with him much now, except that I know he's more of a heel these days. I have a friend who watches it, so if I ever care to know anything about it these days I can always ask him. :P

batgirl
10-12-2004, 11:26 AM
How did I not notice this thread before? I've been a huge wrestling fan since back in the days of Brutus the Barber Beefcake. My favorite wrestler is hands down Taker, even when he went heal I still supported him.

As for the matcheds, can we mix the brands or do we have to stay with RAW and Samckdown separate?

Dream match: 1- Kane vs. Taker vs. Big Show in a chockeslam match.
2- Cruiserweight Battle Royale. The Wrestlemania XX battle was one of my favorite matches of all time, even though Mysterio got royally screwed at the end.

Terex4

1. Survivor Series 10-man tag match?
2. An elimination Chamber?
3. A Tables Ladders and Chairs match?

Tough one....lets see......

10 man tag:
Team1
Shawn Michaels
Triple H
Batista
Jericho
Chris Benoit

Team2
Undertaker
Kane
Gangrel
Edge
Christian

I'm not using today's alliances.

Elimination Chamber:
Undertaker
Kane
Jericho
Michaels
Edge
Cena

TLC: Are we talking triple threat, one on one, tag?

slightly aboveaverage man
10-12-2004, 02:43 PM
Just for you, Batgirl, The Taker Avatar is back for a limited time only!
(until I put a new comic up)

Make the TLC an 8 Man Tag Match!

My personal choices:

10 man-Tag:

Team one:
Shawn Michaels
Rob Van Dam
Chris Jericho
Undertaker
Edge

vs

Team Two
Kane (oldskool)
Big Show
The Rock
Triple H
Stone Cold Steve Austin

Elimination Chamber:
Shawn Michaels
Chris Jericho (Heel)
Triple H (Heel)
Rob Van Dam
Chris Benoit
Undertaker (Heel)

8 man Tag TLC

Jericho & Edge (Spear/Lionsault)
vs
Jeff & Matt Hardy (Senton Bomb/Mattitude Leg Drop/ Twist of Fate off ladder)
vs
Rob Van Dam & Rhyno (Gore through table, Five Star Frog Splash off ladder, and has anyone ever heard of the Van Terminator? hmmmm?)
vs
The Dudley Boyz (THREE DEE!)

That would be fucking sweet.

Anyways, What did you guys think of the last Smackdown!/RAW?

I enjoyed the last RAW, but why can't they have at least one jobbers match that isn't interupted?! I wanted to see Hurricane and Rosey take on Steven Richards and Val Venis. It's been too long since we've seen an Eye of the Hurricane, Hurri-chokeslam, Vertabreaker, Shining Wizard, Stevie-T, Stevie-Kick, or a Money Shot!

What the hell is up with the US Championship?!

Now I'm not a fan of John Cena, but give us a break! He just wins the US championship, and then the guy who lost the first American Idol comes out and kicks his ass!?

WTF?!?!?!?!

Anyway, I have a new one:

If you could make a dream Stable (like evolution) of 5 people, who would they be?

Terex4
10-12-2004, 02:49 PM
8 man TLC:
Undertaker & Kane
Edge & Christian (conchairto anyone?)
Hardy Boyz
Michaels & HHH

I'll come up with my dream stable later.

slightly aboveaverage man
10-14-2004, 09:24 AM
Personally my pics would be

Bret Hart
Chris Benoit
Chris Jericho
Edge
and Test.

That group would make anyone tap out. Hart is the brains, Jericho's the mouth, Test is the brawn, Edge is the Cruiser, and Benoit is the guy who kicks everyone's ass when they mess with the stable. Walls of Jericho, Sharpshooter, Edgucator, Testdrive and Crippler Crossface.

CheshireThief
10-14-2004, 04:36 PM
My dream stable...

Rey Mysterio (because he's that damn cool.)
Edge (My favorite)
HBK (Everyone loves him!)
Undertaker (Need some brawn.)
Jericho (Trash talk. Woot.)

That's my stable. It will rule.

Totsumanu
10-14-2004, 09:14 PM
Dream stable...

Bret Hart
Owen Hart
Old Undertaker
Chris Jericho
HBK

That is all.:D If you would like to know I am in 70th place now in the WWE Fantasy draft game. Now for tonights Smackdown! Let's see how I fare.

Death Dealer
10-14-2004, 10:08 PM
Ideal Stable

Old Goldberg (169 or so matches without a loss, and yes, I know it's scripted....)
Undertaker
Kevin something another (A 2nd Giant Guy, used to fight with the Big Show in WCW when the Big Show was The Giant.)
The Giant
Let's see.....I think the last guy will be Rey Mysterio.

90% Brawn, 60% Giant, 10% fast speedy bastard.

Kevin Nash, perhaps?

Viktor Von Russia
10-14-2004, 10:42 PM
Well, nobody's taken this approach yet, so...

1. Mankind
2. Blue Blazer
3. Funaki
4. Hurricane
5. William Regal

Their ringwork might not be that impressive, but the backstage sessions would be gold.

Terex4
10-14-2004, 10:49 PM
Lets see. My dream stable would be:

Undertaker
Kane (old school can't stand this new Kane)
William Regal
Triple H
Jericho

All of them heel

Death Dealer
10-14-2004, 10:52 PM
Yup, Kevin Nash is who I was speaking of..and I just thought of him as I went into the thread...anyway, Continue.

Kevin Nash was pretty dangerous with Chokeslams...

Better at the jackknife powerbomb. He would lift you up in the powerbomb and then just drop you! It always looked great and painful.

Viktor Von Russia
10-15-2004, 12:55 AM
Ditto on the jackknife. If I remember correctly, he'd do it outside the ring too. Must have wreaked havoc on necks left and right.

Yup. It also was the move that broke Bret Harts elbow.

I never liked the Jack knife much. I was more of a fan of the Jack Hammer.
The animation for the Jack Knife is horrible in WWE Day of Reckoning; It looks like he rubs his ballsack against your head before he does it.

There is a match that I would have loved to see: Big Show vs Andre the Giant.

Did anyone vote for Taboo Tuesday? If so what did you vote for.

My picks were:
HBK vs. HHH
William Regal vs. Jericho
Kane vs. Snitsky w/ the chain
Orton vs. Flair in a cage
Eugene vs. Bischoff Loser becomes servant
Diva Battle Royal in French Maid outfits
Carmela vs. Christy in an evening gown match

I think that's all of them.

slightly aboveaverage man
10-19-2004, 07:50 AM
Edge vs HHH
Hurricane vs Jericho
Kane vs Snitsky w/ the chair
Orton vs. Flair, Falls count anywhere (too many cage matches, and Orton can't make anyone tap)
Eugene vs Bishoff: Servent
Diva Battle Royal in Schoolgirl
Carmela vs Christy in Langerie

I had another thought. I was thinking about some of the wrestlers I've created in the CAW feature. I was curious if anyone had any chacracters they were particularly proud of (no characatures, wrestlers that you had to think up).

My personal favorite I've created is (ironically) a rapper I created named Dawg Sheeit. Most of his moves were low blows and his finishers were the Shattered Dreams and the Power of the Punch. He's undefeated.

slightly aboveaverage man
10-20-2004, 10:57 AM
Do you mean just random made only by you characters, or characters from other games that you also made?

I made a similar guy named Ro Sham Bo. All moves were low blows and his finisher was the Nature Boy Special.

But I wasn't proud of him.

I made a vampire, with the fangs and everything, named Movado. Finisher was Amazing Impact.

I made Ghandi. As a joke I made a second character: Pimpin' Ghandi.

I also made Agent Smith, and his obnoxious counterpart, Agent Smitty.

Meister
10-20-2004, 02:55 PM
Back in the days I did make quite a few nifty guys in Wrestlemania 2000, including an ultra-quick martial arts fighter who always gave the impression of being on speed, caffein and heaploads of sugar in the ring. My other great accomplishment was a guy who took the vampire gimmick somewhat more seriously, bled a lot and had the signature move of spitting his own blood in the enemy's face to blind them.

Those guys were friggin' hardcore.

Anyway: I was wondering if any you fine gentlemen have perchance heard of WrestleCrap (www.wrestlecrap.com)? Chances are of course that you did, if not, however, you'll definitely want to check it out.

slightly aboveaverage man
10-20-2004, 03:38 PM
Ah. It was an interactive pay per view where the fans got to vote who gets a match.

HHH beat HBK to keep the World Heavyweight Championship
Sheldon Benjamin beat Chris Jericho to take the Intercontinental Championship.
Chris Benoit and Edge beat La Resistance for the Tag Titles.
Ric Flair loses to Randy Orton in a cage match.
Gene Snitzky beat the crap out of Kane.
Eric bishoff got his head shaved by Eugene.
Trish Stratus kept her title after a 6 woman battle royal.

Meister
10-20-2004, 03:55 PM
Well, in that case I guess the fans would have voted for those two to get a match because, you see, in the official storyline I thought up they were, after an excessive series of hardcore matches, banned from ever wrestling each other again because every time they were in the ring together someone got severely hurt in the process. Yes, I used to take a rather unorthodox approach at times (but it was an excellent method to temporarily write out workers who need a break anyway to heal up injuries).

So there would have been the return of the Zak (martial arts guy)/Ricardo (psycho vampire guy) feud in a street fight with everyone else forbidden to approach the assigned battlezone. Naturally that would not have worked out at all and whoever needed an injury break anyway would have got the ring stairs square to the head. This would have required them to be taken away in an ambulance, along with Zak, who would have lost (by means of whatever objects are in fashion right now). Since he's the face, that would have caused the fans to demand a rematch and essentially rekindled the old feud, a small sensation among hardcore wrestling connoisseurs (sp?).

... I'm darn creative with beer in my system. I gotta say though, Heidenreich rearending the Undertaker's hearse with him inside (read about it) is something even I wouldn't have thought about. Then again, that was in 2000.

Terex4
10-20-2004, 05:17 PM
I meant characters that you yourself came up with.

Once again HHH can't win legitimately huh? I couldn't afford Taboo Tuesday but I just looked up the results. Seems like Kain got beat pretty badly......

10-20-2004, 05:50 PM
I wouldn't have minded that so much if it wasn't by a fuggly guy who's acting is worse than citizen Kane.

Benjamin pissed me off. Normally I just didn't care about him, now I just hate him. That Title was Jericho's and everyone knows it. Besides, who uses a T-Bone suplex and Stinger Splash as a finisher, come on!

HHH was expected. When hasn't he gone into Survivor Series without a belt?

Totsumanu
10-20-2004, 09:32 PM
Benjamin is puck ass bitch!!!
Now that I got that off my chest. On with my PPV review.

I give the PPV 4/5 MP's (MP=More Praise!!)

Now, I did order the PPV but missed Jericho lossing the title to JR's boy. I say that because if you watch Benjamin wrestle all you here in the background is JR saying how great he is!! I think Benjamin's mom is giving JR some.

Anyways, the School girl rumble was pretty good. Can't go wrong with a school girl outfit!:D

Next we have the the stupid pillow fight. Again it was nothing but stupid. I like Christy and all (redhead:D) but this match took way too long.

Now on to the Kane and Snitsky match with a chain. I wished it would of been the chair but I guess not. Snitsky did bring in the chair and did the throat stomp on the chair to Kane and Kane started to spit blood. Then the best part was when Kane was being wheeled out on the streatcher. Snitsky comes out of nowhere and tip it over! Awesome! (I like heels)

Moving on to the Tag team championship. Pure bullshit! With Edge walking out of the match, Benoit shouldn't have won the titles. Nuff said.

Switching to the Triple H and HBK match. Now I don't know if HBK is really hurt or what, but it mad for a poor match for those two. Edge did lighten my day with the spear thou.

Eric Bishoff and Eugene. Match sucked, but the after match was pure gold!! Vince McMahon need to be on tv more like that. I was rolling on the floor with what went on after the match. A ton of great lines from McMahon! Second best part of the show!

Last but not least. Randy VS Ric in a cage. One word...Spectacular! Randy is so earning his stripes for being a third generation superstar. This had to be one of the best matches I have seen Flair in in a long time! Really long! No one bleeds like Flair. NO ONE!! Both combatents were very bloody by the end of the match and they did shake hands, hugged and lifted each others hands after the match. Standing Ovation from me!!

Well there you have it. A great PPV overall and I hope a recurring PPV concept. Untill Surviver Series this is Totsu signing off.

No PPV and review's like Totsu's make Viktor somethingsomething. Maybe I'll try to download it like a cheap little bastard.

On a side note (seeing how this is the all=purpose WWE thread), I was wondering how Day of Reckoning is. All I've heard about it was mostly how detailed the Create a Rassler option is. I need specifics, please e.g. is it more like the Smackdown! series in its control scheme, or more like the old AKI games? He is. He screwed his knee up when he did his signature leap to his feet...and promptly dropped back. My guess is he torqued his knee pretty hard. Which comes as no surprise, as Michael's two weak spots are his knees and his back.

Edit: WOOT! okay, so.

In general gamplay, DoR is a vast improvement over it's predicessor. Animations for moves, hits and reversals have been touched up to near perfection. For example, if you use a chop-block or any other lower leg strike, your opponent will have their legs fly out from under them and land on their face. Running moves like the Gore have also been improved; when you smash someone from behind, they fly forward and onto their side like they've just been broadsided.

New moves have been added as well to make things even more cool; and the Animation for the Pedegree actually makes it look cool, as Triple H or your character will taunt the opponent afterwards. However, the biggest improvement is in Shawn Michaels Sweet Chin Music. Should you pull it off, Shawn will punch the opponent in the head, step back, start tuning up the band as the opponent flops onto his knees and tries to stand, and then hit him with a blast of Sweet Chin Music! the Sharp Shooter and the Nature Boy Figure Four can both be done from a standing possition as well, much like the Walls of Jericho.

Hardcore matches are the best they've ever been for Gamecube. Chairs provide the option of 4 different grapples (not specials...grapples) including "couple o strikes", DDT, Gilotine (can't spell it), and the Van Daminator. Stick weapons and sledge hammers offer the option of "couple o strikes" and choke out. Trash cans allow you to put them over the head of the opponent, leaving them running around the ring like a chicken with it's head cut off. You can also get Brass Knuckles, and the Announcers Bell, both of which allow you to pummel your enemy in the face Ric Flair style with them. Title belts are also added. all weapons will break and dissapear after using them too much. (this allows for more variety in your hardcore matches.)

The Submission system is vastly improved, featuring a "Tug of War" bar to make anyone submit. If the bar doesn't appear, the move isn't a submission. That way you can control whether you tap out or not, and no one is going to tap to a headlock in the game, ever.

This slider bar approach also comes in on the Weight system. If you are a normal weight class, to lift Big Show a slider bar will appear, if you get it to the top, you will do the move to him, if you don't you'll wrench your back. Light weights use the slider bar for Heavyweights and Superheavy's and Very lights must use them on anyone except light weights. it is impossible for a very light to lift a superheavy. If you are a Normal weight, your strength must be at least 9.5 to lift a superheavy on a regular basis.

Another bonus is the addition of legends: including Brutus Beefcake, Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant, Greg Valentine, and Bret Hart!

The CAW option is a great improvement, but uses the same base CAW platform as WM XIX: allowing more gear (including a pimp hat), the ability to change the Gear's color, new moves, and customizable everything. you can even take a picture of your CAW that will appear in the selection screen! Unfortunatelly they also took some things out. You can no longer get Wolverine's Claws or Freddy Krugers. Also, the Cape becomes a Gear that takes up 8 points, which is a big problem for anyone who wants to make Red Mage.

As for the Create an Entrance, almost everyone's music is featured within the game, allowing for a great variety of selection, including actuall good music which can also play during gameplay. (Personally I like "the Angle") The entrance maker itself has been totally revamped, but is both a step forward and backward. You no longer have the huge choice of camera angles, and are instead just given some basic ones; a big disappointment for an avid entrancemaker like myself. Unlike it's predecessor, you are allowd up to 4 different pyro's in your entrance. Unfortunatelly you can only use one per stage: "Intro, Stage, Ramp, Ring." thus limiting your possibilities.

The animations are a huge step in the right direction though. It is impossible not to laugh when viewing Shawn Michaels Ramp animation. Kane's Ring pyros have been greatly improved, being all firy and giving a loud roar instead of the previous "poof." there are more additional Pyros than there are Superstar Pyros. :D

The biggest drawbacks in the game come in the Season and the Roster, which are directly related. The roster sports a very low number, which is then divided among two brands. Thus when you do season on Raw, you end up fighting Lance Storm and Val Venis about 50 times, yet never once do you fight The Rock. Similarly on Smackdown!, you fight Chavo Gurrerro and Hardcore Holly 50 times, but never face Angle. The Roster is missing many mid card level wrestlers and Jobbers. missing are Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Scott Steiner, The Hurricane, Test, Ultimo Dragon, Tajiri, A-Train, Lita, William Regal, La Resistance, Steven Richards, JBL, Billy Gunn, the Dudleys, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rico, and Torrie Wilson.

Also, the Season mode is exactly the same on Smackdown! as it is on Raw. no difference except the Roster and the dialoge. John Cena gives you Sweet Chin Music in one animation for God Sakes! Also missing is Options. you have one choice: Raw or Smackdown! after that, everything is controled, even though they had over 10 different areas where you could have been given an option. finally, in season they boost your opponents stats. When you fight Big Show for the first time, he runs faster than Rey Mysterio. that's just not right. they constantly reverse everything, especially Ric Flair. It is impossible to beat him the first time around. on top of that, with the exception of that match, you must win all of your matches to progress. not very realistic.

Over all, I'd say it's one of the best wrestling games ever, on par with Here Comes the Pain. But Drawbacks in the Roster and Season modes prevent it from passing. my rating:

WWE Day of Reckoning is Slightly Above Average.

Edit 2: I forgot a couple things:

TLC/Hell in a cell, + other features.

any match with a Ladder has also evolved. Unlike it's predicessor, DoR allows you to put your enemies through the announcer's table with arial moves off the ladder. In addition, you can now also do special flying moves too, meaning you can finally hit that 5 star frog splash to put 'em through JR's table. Tables matches have been updated so that running moves such as the Gore can put people through the tables, and have it count. Putting the Ref through a table will also gain you the win. The referee has Stone Cold's moveset.

In a Hell in a cell, you can put your enemy through four sections of the roof, four sections of the cage, and smash their face into the cage. Irish whiping people into the guard rails and such actually hurts them in this version, and you can throw people off the hell in a cell and through an anouncers table. Any high flying move off the top of the hell in a cell, or a ladder will result in the crowd chanting "Holy Shit! Holy Shit!"

If you destroy an anouncer's table during any match, you can steal the chairs behind them! just like in reality! Irish Whip double teams like the 3D are a lot easier to do, and many new doubleteams have been added.

My personal favorite feature is the KO option. If you hit someone with a certain move, when they have a certain amount of damage, a slider bar will appear on the screen. if they cannot fill the slider bar in the time alloted, they will KO. This is particularly cool with the new Camera Angle system and the inverted colors upon contact with the move if it is a finisher. Finishers can also be done from the back. my favorite is the Back RKO where Randy flips them around and smashes them with the RKO. beautiful, so fluid of a motion.

Finally, the game features the new "Momentum Shift" option. This allows you to do a certain move to shift your enemies spirit to your own, and vice versa. turns the tables so you can kick their ass for a change. There are 4 separate low blows for this option. My favorite is the kick in the chads. You can also use any finisher that isn't a submission as your Momentum Shift move.

Thanks much, SAAM. That's exactly what I was looking for. With the limited roster, it doesn't quite sound like a buy, but the CAW's depth has me leaning towards purchasing it. I'll think on it. By the way, how much did you all get your copies for? That can help me make my decision.

Glee! only 11 hours until Bret makes his mini-comeback!

He was actually on TSN not long ago, he did an interview with Michael Lansbourg on "Off the Record." he basically was interviewed on his carreer, Vince McMahon, the Screwjob in Montreal, his opinions of Triple H and Shawn Michaels (he really doesn't have that much regard for either of them in reality.) and how he's recovering after his stroke.

He looks great, acts normal, and said he isn't up to wrestling par. If he were to have one last match, he'd want to take on Chris Benoit, a good friend of his.

His comments on Triple H: "He had his nose shoved so far up McMahon's ass..."

His comments on Shawn Michaels: "He was one of those guys who would be all nice to you in front of your face, but would stab you in the back once you turned around."

Well, the Show was awesome. Bret did a great job hosting, and had a few flashbacks of his own. He even put a random fat guy into the SharpShooter!

As for RAW... Worst. Episode. Ever.

Only four matches and they were "Jericho vs Benjamin" and Jericho lost. when he shook his hand, I was praying that he'd boot the bastard in the nuts.

"Maven vs Batista" what a dissapointment. any match with Maven in it sucks. he isn't supposed to win!

"Gene Snitzkey vs William Regal" gimme a break, it was like 15 seconds long. and Snitzkey has the stupidest finisher ever "the Pump handle slam!" couldn't he at least make up a new name for it to match his gimmick? call it the baby killer or something. and why the hell does a british guy have country music as his theme? come on now.

Randy Orton vs Ric Flair. Predictable.

the entire show was everyone on the roster bitching about something. whaaaaaa! blow it out your ass you big babies. Shawn Michaels, good to see you're okay, but you took up too much valuable brawlin' time.

the only redeaming quality this had was the Lionsault and RKO at the very end. We may be seeing a lead up to Survivor Series here: Randy, Maven, Jericho, Benoit and Benjamin on one side, evolution and two others on the other side.

I FINALLY FUCKING DID IT! I BEAT RIC FLAIR IN SEASON MODE!

take that, you greasy walking shoehorn!

I beat him with my Slightly Above Average Man character; he must've put me in the figure-four 6 times, but I still didn't tap out! 3 gores, 4 Walls of Jericho, 1 Haas of Pain, and 2 Chokeslams from Hell later, he finally goes down!

BOO FREEKIN YA!

So, does anyone have any predictions for Survivor Series?

As usual, Smackdown!'s prospects look bleak.

Only an 8 man elimination Tag match, instead of a 10 man? one problem right there.

RVD, Guererro, Mysterio and Big Show on one side... I ain't really impressed. RVD and Big Show are the only real interesting ones there.
The other side is even worse: Angle (the human Thumb), Luther Reigns (No neck Brock Lesnar wannabe) Jindrak (Blatant rip-off of Lex Luger...Yawn) and one of the Dudleys. big freekin' whoop.

Eric Bishoff: please don't disappoint me like Theodore Long did...

Wrestlemania was last night so I felt this topic deserved ressurection.

I was looking forward to the six man ladder match the most myself so naturally the last person I wanted to win it did but I found the match enjoyable nonetheless. My favorite moment was when Christian tried to get an early advantage by pulling the ladder in while Kane had everyone down and Jericho ran across the apron and gave his a face full of ladder. Kane seemed to be missing for half the match so he didn't make the kind of impact I expected him to.

As far as the title matches went I'm just glad to see JBL knocked off his pedastal. I just wish we could have the old Bradshaw back, the hardcore champion, not this snobby, whiny bastard that's been champ for the past several months.

Triple H needs to go behind the scenes for awhile, I'm sick of seeing his face everytime the title comes up. We need some variety with the titles, its been the same story with both shows for about a year.

I loved the final movie trailor they showed. Steve Austin as Gladiator was kickass. In your face Rock!

What did you guys think?

Totsumanu

Now first thing that you need to know is that I am ALL about the heals! So I was saddend to see one of my favorite champions fall last night...JBL. Since dropping Farque(sp?) he has turned up his game 100 fold. He has really progressed from a mid-card nobody to a main eventer. I was more ticked off on how easy it seemed for Cena to beat him. Come on!! This man went through so many matches and BEAT a LOT of top name people to still be champion just to drop it in a horrible match to Cena! I think something was wrong with JBL.

Next for my rant is the ladder match. Good match overall, but Kane really didn't do a whole hell of a lot in the match. Oh well, a big man doesn't belong in a ladder match anyways. I do have to give a small amount of props to Shelton for the run up the ladder. That was pretty sick, but Benoit gets my biggest prop for that match. That boy got the HELL beat out of him last night! Hope he is alright, but I think he may have seperated his shoulder in the match. Let's hope for the best.

Undertaker and Orten....Good match, enough said.

Woman's Title match....boring and glad to see Trish still has it.

Piper's Pit could of been SOOOOOOO much better it Carlito didn't come out. I have been a Piper fan for years and he was cracking me up last night, but then Carlito came out and ruined what could of been a great Wrestlemania moment.

Triple H has won and lost it so many times it doesn't even really matter anymore for me. Yeah Batista....whatever.

Eddie and Ray. I and my friends already knew that Ray was going to win that one. Think about it, when is the last time Ray was really BEATEN by anybody legit? It's been WAY too long.

Angle and Shawn was a awesome match. All but the headlocks that Shawn had on Angle to start. Lame, but these two put it all out there and put on a clinic. Hooray for Angle!!

Now I love watching sumo matches but to have this one scripted was a BIG let down. Was hoping to see Big Show get real physical but oh well.

Overall I give the show a 7 out of 10. Was hoping for a lot more. Oh well, meh now I'm out $50.

God, but that women's title match sucked! I haven't been that bored watching wrestling since... well, since the "Honky-Tonk-Man" was intercontinental champ forever and cheated half of his matches to win, cheated then walked out of the other half. Sure, they were losses, but the rules let him keep his title like that.

I think the worst match was JBL vs Cena, though. By far. The whole match was purely lackluster. Sure, it was great to remove the title from that horse's ass... maybe he'll make a slight adjustment to his persona and begin kicking ass again instead of being a whiner. But I doubt it.

HHH vs. Batista. I was just a wee bit bored with that one. Whoever wrote the script for that needs a few lessons on how to keep a crowd in suspense.

Shawn Michaels vs. Angle. This was a pretty good match, very memorable. I loved watching Angle get the taste slapped out of his mouth, that was just awesome. I was pretty disappointed with the end of it, but couldn't bring myself to be disgusted with it at all.

UT vs Orton. HA! And again... HA!! That punk got what was comin to him. I just wish he'd gotten a bit more of an asskicking. But then, ol UT's gettin up there in years.. just doesn't have the stamina he used to.

Movie Trailers. I found most of em to be pretty good. I think my favorite one was the Basic Instinct spoof though. That one had my sides hurting, especially by the time the old broads were done with it. Comedy gold.

Piper's pit: Alright. I haven't seen any wrestling, admittedly, since my last live event at the RAW taping at Key Arena in Seattle last September. (Good matches on that card... I had a blast) But who the hell is this Carlito moron? He reminds me of the kinda guys that get the jocks pissed in highschool, and gets violated with a bar of soap and left face down under a towel in the girls' locker room. I couldn't help but have a severe hatred of the guy on sight, just from LOOKING at him (I haven't felt the need to kick someone's ass for the way they looked since Barney was the big thing...). It made me incredibly happy to watch him get punked by Piper and SC.

Gotta say I have to wonder about how some of those old HoF'ers managed to keep looking as good as they did. Hogan's getting ancient, but stayed in decent shape. Piper's hardly changed at all. Same with Jimmy Hart. Then there was "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorf complete with realistic looking grey hair, Nicolai Volkoff, The Iron Shiek (never thought I'd see him hobbling along with a cane), and one other whose name escapes me right now. Orton's Dad, maybe? Anyhow, those guys... yeah, they're still around. But some of us just age like an open loaf of bread, I guess. Wow.

I think I'd start watching wrestling again on a regular basis, provided that in every episode, Carlito gets his ass kicked at least twice. Once for offending the guys, and once for offending the girls. And if, every so often, he offends some mexican midget wrestlers, and they speedbag his cojones, that wouldn't hurt my feelings either. It'd keep him out of the gene pool, at least.

But who the hell is this Carlito moron?
Carlito Carribean Cool. His debut was taking John Cena's US title. His whole thing is "that's not cool" and spitting an apple in your face. That's about it for him. He's on Smackdown.

Piper had me laughing pretty good. His whole thing on the crowd shouting "what" was great. The line that got me the most though was "I was pissing Vince McMahon off when the red on your neck was diaper rash."

I skipped the Women's Title match in favor of getting some BBQ chicken. From what I hear it was a good choice.

JBL vs. Cena could have and should have been a lot better. JBL survived two matches with the Undertaker and Cena took him out in under 15 minutes.

Triple H vs Batista was okay. I'm just surprised Triple H didn't just get himself disqualified, but he hasn't done that much this year. Last year it was all disqualifications and count outs that let him keep his title.

Shawn vs. Angel was good, I would have liked to see Shawn pinned as opposed to tapping out at Wrestlemania. He's issued a rematch challenge though so that should be good.

First off, I didn't see wrestlemania, but after reading about the outcomes, I'd like to share my own opinions.

First off: Big Show vs Akebono. Come on, I was expecting Show to get shoved back, showstopper Akebono, and then shove him out. And where's that Final Cut we all know and love? This is the second year in a row Big Show lost at wrestlemania.

Second: Christy vs Trish... Surprise surprise, it sucked. I could have told you that. Christy can't wrestle because she's on the same level as Stacy Kiebler: eye candy. You need a hell of a lot more training than kicking William Regal in the scrotum before you can take on Trish Stratus. Still, she's better than Jazz. *shudders at the ugliness that is Jazz.*

Third: Orton vs Undertaker... BOO FREEKIN YA! I never liked Orton, as either face or heel. I can never forgive him for being such a jackass in Evolution. Seeing him decked out in Taker's Darkness Pin was the highlight of my day. If only I could see the video. I'm not surprised that Bob Orton tried to interfere. The man couldn't have an independant thought of his own to save his life, of course he's gonna become his own sons bitch. Even as a hall of Famer. he's only a sidekick, and that's all he'll ever be.

Angle vs Michaels: this one got me a bit depressed. I just can't believe that HBK got beat by a Human Thumb. Granted, he put up one hell of a fight, but I lose respect for anyone I see Tap Out. It's the ultimate failure: you're saying "I Give up! You're better than me." HBK will always have respect in my eyes, but now he has been diminished.

Stone Cold is back: the second highlight of my evening. Seeing a Stunner after missing out for a year is just what I needed. Especially considering Carlito was on the recieving end.

On a side note, I HATE Carlito with a PASSION. I want to see someone shove that apple up his ass. He's got a crappy gimmick, no finisher, and looks like the guy who lost the first American Idol. If ever there was someone who deserved to be shot, it's Davari... and Carlito would be next.

JBL vs Cena: No surprises here. I knew JBL would drop the title at Wrestlemania, it was written in the wind. The only thing is it's Cena he dropped it to. Yawn. I can't stand the "Wigger" gimmick. The only time I enjoyed a performance by him was when he got Chris Benoit to put Paul Heyman in the Sharpshooter. That's it. He sucks. All Hype, no ability. As for Bradshaw, I missed him as Bradshaw. Unfortunatelly, there was already a beer swilling, redneck badass in Stone Cold, thus I am not surprised at his change. He's a pretty good heel, but he's been made into too much of a whimp.

Batista vs HHH: I was surprised. Pleasantly surprised. I expected the Game to win because... GASP! He's the Game! AKA: fucking the bosses daughter! I'm so sick of seeing titles like the WHC getting "Default Champions" where one person gets the title, drops it, and gets it back. Exactly the same as La Resistance with the Tag Team championships. For all Eric Bishoffs inginuety, he sure can't pick a good champion line up. Whenever you make a list where every second title holder is Triple H, that's when you have to be fired. Seeing Batista with the title was awesome. I wish it were someone else like Edge, Jericho, or Kane, but anyone except Triple H is fine by me.

Six man Ladder Match: I'm satisfied with the outcome. I was rooting for Jericho, but I think that Edge deserves a title reign. I actually sympathize with him, and he's been showing some damn good athletic ability lately. Face it, he makes a good Heel. I was expecting Kane to win it though. the only two that I knew had no chance were Benoit because he's already had a title reign recently (and he's not... GASP! The game!) and Christian because he's a hilariously whiney bitch.

Mysterio vs Gurrerro: Don't know. Don't care.

And that's my opinion of Wrestlemania, and wrestling in general.

Viktor Von Russia
04-05-2005, 01:11 PM
I didn't see Wrestlemania either, but I'd give just about anything to see it, if only for those movie promos I've been hearing so much about. I'll take what I've heard point by point:

JBL vs. Cena: Not all that interested in the match itself, just the outcome. JBL's style isn't too exciting to watch, in my opinion. And why the hell did he decide to go with "JBL?" I thought Bradshaw of the APA was just fine. Much better, even. What really annoys me is that he used to be such a badass. Now he needs Orlando Jordan to bail him out every other week.

The Sumo Match: It seemed too silly for me to really care about this one.

Women's Title Match: I can't remember the last time I saw a women's match that I actually liked watching. In fact, I don't think that ever happened. I think Trish might be the only woman in the WWE right now that can actually do at least a half-decent job of actual rassling.

Angle vs. Michaels: I really wanna see this one. I love watching both of these guys at work individually, so I can only imagine how good it'd be for them to go at it. And as with any tap-out in a title match, especially with someone like Michaels, I think that's a pretty lame ending. I'd rather see a guy not be able to kick out than a guy screaming for 30 seconds before tapping out.

Orton vs. Taker: Don't really care to see this one, except to see Undertaker. I think I can safely assume his perfect record at Wrestlemania's still intact?

Batista vs. HHH: Good to see someone finally getting the title from HHH. That guy has the title waaaay too much. I'm also glad to see someone who hasn't (until recently?) been a real top guy get the title.

Piper's Pit: I really gotta see this one.

Six Man Ladder Match: I miss seeing quality ladder matches. This one had a lot of the big names in ladder matches, and I definitely wanna see it. I think Kane is horribly out of place here, though.

Concerning Carlito: Possibly the absolute worst idea ever. I hate this guy. And not in the way that people hate heels. He's not even entertaining to watch. If it were up to me, I'd have Funaki brutally murder him by sodomizing him with a bushel of apples. If anyone deserves to be taken out by a (#1!)announcer, it's Carlito.

And on a side note, I found this chock-full of hilarity:
*shudders at the ugliness that is Jazz.*

Oh, that SAAM. What a card.

Well it's true! Her name should really be "Jizz."

I can't even look at her she's so ugly. If it comes between her and someone else in a One on One match, I can't watch it, cause I know I'll have to look at her. At least in a Triple Threat you can divide your attention between two attractive divas, but no, if Jazz is one on one, I'm gonna puke unless I change the channel. She looks like she fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down, only to be beaten afterwards with a gang using Ugly Sticks, lodging several Ugly splinters into her already deformed face.

Plus she sounds like Gary Coleman.

By the way, they went with the JBL handle in order to distinguish him from the APA. It came about with Kurt Angles Great American Award. they announced that a guy named "John" won it, and everyone was going crazy cause they thought it was Cena. Then they revealed Bradshaw's full name and pissed everyone off.

He had a crazy sort of electrocuted-hairstyle, evil grimate and squinty eyes. His schitck was that he couldn't be knocked down. Goldberg speared him TWICE in one match, and he bounced off of Meng. It was not until the VERY LAST moments of the match that Meng was actually taken off of his feet, and his kickout was too late. He was just fun to watch stomp around the ring like Frankenstein, completely oblivious to any blows thrown his way.

A lot of bit characters like that are cooler to watch than the flashy regulars who can pay big bands to cover even bigger bands hits to be their theme song *cough*Triple H*cough*

PS: Best bit wrestler ever has to be Satin. Satin's Shrine (http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling/Satinshrine/page1.html)

I am pretty sure that you guys don't know that Edge comittied adulty. This is the reason I have no real repect for him now. *insert nasty word here* The thing that sickins me more is that it's with Lita. Now Edge is already married to Val Venus's sister for some time now and Lita was Matt Hardy's fiancee. Matt got wind of these escapaeds and went public on his site. You can read it HERE. So when you see Edge or Lita on TV turn it up and you can still hear small chants of "You screwed Lita/Edge!"

Okay, Honestly my opinion may offend some addicted to Mattitude.

My estimation of Edge just Skyrocketted. I give a lot of playa points to the man who can tap Lita. Edge has just hit the level of Bill Clinton and Red Mage in Pimpiness. Then again, I always liked Edge anyway.

And I can't say I blame Lita either. If I were female and stuck with Matt Hardy, I'd run. Fast. Away. The man looks like what you'd get if a rat had sex with a hyena, who's offspring was then beaten with the above mentioned Ugly Stick. Not only that, but he can't wrestle! His finisher is a slower version of a cool move his brother used to do, only it looks like he's about to have a stroke before he does it. His Mattitude Legdrop is the saddest move ever. He showes his fingers and drops, not jumps, down onto his opponent. Yawn. And his entire gimmick makes him seem like a retard AOLer. he took "the Shocker" and just spread the fingers. guh. What Lita ever saw in him I have no idea.

Since Matt Hardy got Chokeslammed out of the WWE, everything about it has improved. I dare say, Matt Hardy was one of the things that held the entire organization back. Do the V.1 sign. Now put down your Index and pinky fingers. What you have left with is all I've got to say to Matt Hardy.

Thank you and goodnight.

Also, Jazz is ugly.

Edge and Christian had one great moment in that ladder match conchairto with ladders to Kane!.

Does anyone else think Jazz would have played a wonderful King Kong? Seriously her face proves that we decended from apes.

For those who didn't see the PPV, what was that moment, Druid? Was is one in which they work together? I always did want to see those two crazy kids to get back together.

I blacked out the spoiler in case someone was planning to catch a repeat (they usually have it available a couple days later) or if someone taped it for them. I just continued the sentence blacked out.
