For those of you who are into that sort of thing:

I'm just wondering how long it's going to take for this to leak... Gold status a month before it releases, you just know it's going to happen.

1 More Month Then Bliss Comes For Xbox And Doom Befalls Ps2

How exactly is DOOM coming to PS2? Sony's already got half the world playing, this late entry isn't gunna rocket XBox to first...unless its really just an elaborate program that turns the X-Box into a killing machine (ala Chef's TV from South Park).

Yeah, it's gonna be big for sure, but Sony has absolutely nothing to worry about. But enough about that, lest it spark a console flamewar.
I might get it, I'm not sure. I don't have any interest in the first Halo, but I need some more games for Xbox, and I'm trying to stick with XBL games if I'm going to drop $50.

I'll be playing it on my best friend's Xbox.

I'll be robbing a bank to get the money for the game, xbox live, and a few other purchases i've wanted to make.

Bank robbing eh? Need some cover fire, or a good bullet sponge? I could use some cash my self...

What can I say? This exact thing happens with just about every single major sequel that has come out or will come out this year. It's never really a suprise, just an increasingly common ratification of the amount of anticipation that we already know is there. In no way will I base my opinion of a game on sales.
Part of me (well, actually most of me) wants this series to crumble from my severe disappointment with the original, but part of me wants the series to learn from the mistakes of the past and create a console shooter that can stand next to the mainstays of modern FPS with pride (no matter how impossible it may seem).
We will see...

Yeah, I'm really not holding my breath for this one. The original failed to excite me, and it really would bring me great pleasure to see this game turn out to be absolute junk. As I said, I'll probably still give it a shot, if nothing else, it's at least something I can play with people I know online.
And I'm sure it will spawn an endless string of sequels, in some form or another. Though as I understand it, all the real talent from Bungie is about to jump ship after this project is done, right?

Besides, if Halo 2 bombs, it'll leave the FPS genre WIDE open for smaller developers (ie everybody) to come out and show us their stuff without fearing being severely outdone/outsold by some single genre-dominating monster. No worries about creating some "Halo-killer."

Yeah because calling a game a "halo killer" is like the marine who goes around shooting dead bodies.
I'm not that pumped either. The way I see it, the original game was just a perfect rendition of the FPS genre. Adding stuff onto it is nice, but it seems more like Halo 1.5 than anything. Dual weilding guns, adding a few more, the spear, tweaking rocket launcher, making destructible vehicles, hijacking vehicles, and new maps. That sounds like a patch, not a game.
Of course Xbox live and even more polished graphics are unreal, of course, but I'm not going to be the one sleeping outside waiting for it.

I will enjoy my metal box containing Halo 2 immensely. Even so, I'm suspecting a large number of people will be massively dissappointed, adding to those already not happy with the first.
I'm surprised this thread itself hasn't been pounced upon by those who prefer other games to the Xbox's flagship title.

Halo 1 was merely passable, this new one will probably be marginally better.
Both have been hyped to hell and back.
Wake me when Half Life 2 comes out.

Yikes.
In the sense of balancing plot, enemy AI, variables in missions (although not that often), weapons that cover everything, no glitches, vehicles, and absolute shitloads of fun in the FPS multiplayer mayhem, yes I do.
it seems like since Halo 2's been released we've had a bunch of rebels saying "Well I'm not really psyched about Halo 2," But I'm just saying that I feel alot more than just rebellion or anti-Halo isms. Halo was spectacular if only due to lack of flaws, and Halo 2 is just an upgrade. Something that's flawless isn't neccesarily bombshell, but it's the best FPS we've had in years as I see.

Well, if not for Valve's shaky legal status with their publisher VU, we'd probably see them releasing around the same time. When HL2 actually releases is, once again, anybody's guess. It's probably very close to gold status as well, but even if it's ready for release, the legal dispute could hold the release back indefinitely.

Well, I'm more syked about MP:2 Echoes, but that's b/c I own a gamecube. But still, I can't wait for my freind to get it, so I can r0x0r his 80x0rs :D
I think you guys expect too much from a sequel. Its not going to be ground breaking. Its not supposed to be. Its supposed to let us continue on the Halo story, while adding on some new cool toys to play with. As long as it does that, I'll be happy, and anything more will just make me giggle with joy.

Mirai: I'll admit very quickly that I'm excited about Halo 2. I'll also admit that Halo 1 had its great moments (especially in multiplayer). I don't think it was the perfect shooter rendition by any means though, especially where single-player level design is concerned. I still love you though. ;)

The only thing good that came outta the first Halo was Red vs Blue and a few muti-player matches i had, i don't even own a X-box my self but i have a few friends who do. That being said i'm not really look forward to Halo2, but if they fixs the blance and give me a few more fun vechiles to play with (and keep the lovable messed up physics), then i'm all for fragging my friends till HL2 comes out.

I own all three and I will say that I am definitely looking forward to MP2 much more than Halo2. The single player will undoubtedly be far and beyond Halo (No change from the first round pitting MP against Halo), and just thinking about 4 player deathmatches with the MP system... It's just a shame that Halo2 will end up outselling everything else this year.

Simply due to the hype. The hype was well earned though.

Apparently halo 2 has been leaked. Yes, the entire game.
I just read on my college's forum that it's available on torrentreactor (I've confirmed this). I haven't the faintest idea how to burn it to work on your XBOX, but it seems as if some have it shared on our P2P already, so it must work somehow. Just FYI.
I'll keep an eye out for anyone who has a copy and I'll see if I can get any good info and/or screenshots for the lot of you.
