Today is a melancholy day for me. I was thinking about the first forum I was a member of and decided to visit it to see if any of my old friends or the forum as a whole were still there. The forum was Legions of Azeroth (http://www.legionsofazeroth.com), it was a guild forum before World of Warcraft (http://www.Blizzard.com) was to come out. Unfortunately I had joined the forums in the summertime and school pried me from a dedicated schedule. After a long period of time away from the forums I went to see them today and read a truly sad news post about the guild being dissolved. :(
Anyway, what was the first forum or the most memorable one you joined?

The first forum I joined? This one. ^_^

First one i joined was a DBZ yahoo club called vegetasdbzworld
I was like 13 years old and i acted like a moron all the time. i look back on those days with humility. i have grown a lot since then (in only 5 years!!, amazing how quickly we grow up).

this is the first forum i actually joined and stayed with for any length of time..... ive been around for like 11 months now and i still havent got bored with it. i find it odd that i never visit the actuall 8-bit theater portion of the forums.... the general and off-topic keep me more entertained than the actuall comic it self (sorry brian your just one person... or god. whatever) it might be because the forums are updated every 30 seconds... *end run on sentence*

This is the first forum I joined, though several years ago.
My first month I accumulated 1000 posts.
After that I realised the error of my ways and tried to make up for it by being productive and helpful, and in the end it got me modhood and eventually I became an admin.
Now the world is mine to control.

This is my first. But not only. Not anymore. Though it is hard to find one as good as this one is. I've been looking. Haven't found it.
I was pretty timid when I first joined, still am to a certain extent.

www.absforums.com was my first forum.
I still have my account there but I don't post anymore. A while back I participated in a great migration along with many of the other elder members away from the forums.
We all now post on a new board that is a n00b free paradise.

My first forum was Blaster Master Underground. I joined that when I was 16 (about two and a half years ago). It's undergone some changes since then, but it's still a quiet little forum. There are probably more poeple on NPF right now then there are members over at BMUG.

This is my first, only, and probably last forum worth joining, in my opinion. This place has a good system of keeping out the spam while at the same time forming a nexus of nerdy goodness. Viva la NPF!

this was the first forum I ever joined too. I think I post too much, but I always seem to get left behind. My post count isn't that high, but I try to put thought into all my comments. (except for the off topic section, i usually just write the most rediculous thing that comes to mind there)

This was my first forum. But it's not the only one anymore. I browswe at two other forums too. I think I post...Um...A lot? Well I don't know if I spam, but I do post pretty much. Though not so much anymoer than I used to. For instance I've esided to steer clear of any political discussions and the like.
NPF is the best forum I've been to. This is where I've made the most forum friends. Though still working on that with Zoam...You antisocial bastard... -_-

Lets see my first forum were probably the "Out of Character" boards of whatever E-feds I used to roleplay in. I had some fun on those boards....
Man Efeds. Those were the days. I was such a jackass. I still am, I just like to think I have matured....*snort*.
I also used to dabble on communicating with those things that post on the NEWGROUNDS forum.... but I stopped when my mind imploded. I would recomend trying such activities unless you are trained in mental warfare.

This is my second forum that I stayed at. My first was Blamethepixel.com, A worms based community. I've been there just over a year now and I'm nearly a Blueie+ (2000 Posts).

hmm, I think the first forum i joined was the Diablo II.net forums, which was only like five years ago. of the very few forums i've been on, this one has definatly got to be the best.

I was originally from Stardestroyer.net, a site focusing on logical debates and flaming the living fuck out of idiots. And trust me, they really deserve it sometimes.
Then I came here. I'm glad to say that this place is a much more civil and pleasant one to be in.

My first was Laxious power forum my friend made me join it but this one is the best on I have been on has anybody noticed that almost every body has said that. Ah I remember when I first joined this place I only posted in the Roleplay Forum and I sucked at Role Playing realy badly.

I was in a forum called Golden Sun: Adept's Refuge, GSAR for short. I forgot the link but now my sister's there. I quit the forums after they moved to a different site. Now I'm in this one, horray.

Good old 8bit EZboards. They were the first forums I signed up for also, as I was prone to roleplaying chat rooms before that via Yahoo. I still remember my first post was in the roleplaying section and Viper...ate my face? I can never remember, but I know he was mean and I still need to steal his pants or something to get him back.
I was probably one of the worst spammers of the board, as Mash can recall, and somehow I got appointed mod a year or so later. So it's been a fun run!
The most memorable part has to have been Shiney joining up to my roleplay and us eventually falling in love. Ain't it enough to make you sick? =3

My first forum memories are my long conversations with Klyco about different types of "Chucks".
Then getting threatened by Viper for spamming.
Then trying to put Viper on my ignore list
Then learning that Viper was a mod.
I started to shape up then.

Hehehe. I never that about you Shiney. A bit ironic that you were a spammer and now you give mod warnings to spammers.
If you're willing Nafoi, would you make a thread about "ShinyShinyShinies" in the 'good old days'?

As for me, yes, this is my first, only, and probably last forum to ever be on.
I remember my youthful days here (almost a year ago!)
Playing Calvinball.
Pissing off RaiRai and Shiney with my poems.
Pissing off Shiney. And RaiRai.
Pissing off Ih8makingnames.
Pissing off BMHadoken.
Being pissed off.
Quickly altering my attitude.
And all in my first 2 months!
Ah... the good ol' days.
Maybe, with a little patience and luck, maybe I could become a mod as well...
but I highly doubt it.

This was my first forum. My first thread was the good olde "E-Doken" back when the "general" forum was called "random" and I took it to heart. E-Doken is also known as "the thread that would not die" since it got ressurrected about 5 times before Mashie finally closed it at my request. God that was an embarassing topic.
Anyway, yeah, I remember those days. Everything was a bit more ephemeral, some people had been there forever, some people had only just shown up, but there was no way of telling which is which. At least now, you know when someone's at least been here for a few months.

You've come a long way videogamerz. A while back I remember reading a post of yours and thinking to myself, "Wait a fucking minute, wasn't he some giant shitcock back in the day? Bloody hell."
I think I even asked Rai if you used to be a douchebag. Clearly you no longer are. Good on you.

I've been to a couple other boards but some bugged the hell out of me with multiple *SPOILER* written all over the posts and huge animated sigs that took up pages at a time. I was at a Legacy of Kain board for awhile but it moved rather slowly and eventually I lost interest. At the same time most of my time was being taken up so it seemed a natural transition out. Then I came upon this board.
This board is the best run board I've come across. I was a little wary at first because of the tighter spam rules but those are pretty easy to get used to.

There were a few forums that I participated in before this one. Came close to modhood in one of them.
But this is the only one that I have spent a long while in. This is a really great forum with some really great guys and gals. Wouldn't trade in my experiences here for anything.
*wipes away tear* You guys (and gals) ... you rock ... *sniff*

I joined back in the late TWC days, and it was the first real forum I joined. Can't say that I was ever a reformed spammer like our mods, since I actually read the rules way before I joined, while I was still a lurker.
These days I'm part of the official CoH forums, though I only read the dev's digest thread, since its like friggin' GameFAQs in there >_<. I'm part of a forum dedicated to my laptop's make and model, although I only go there for news and tech questions. I frequently leave comments in a blog/forum hybrid site, where users blog posts are actually thread posts... yeah its a bit strange.
And I'll count the LJ CoH community as a forum, since it updates so freaking often.

This is my second forum and the best one I've been at so far. My first forum was a community site for game making I joined about a year ago and left in about November when I joined NPF. I acted like an idiot at my first forum, but have altered my attitude since then and still talk to some of the people there. It was a really nice place, but last time I checked most of the best posters vanished and the site was pretty dead.
Lycan: I remember that thread! Good times. I always thought you were probably one of the guys that had been around NP forever :P

A bit ironic that you were a spammer and now you give mod warnings to spammers.
I like to think of Shiney as the St. Augustine of the forums that way. It's part of what makes him a good mod.
(RaiRai was never as bad as she thinks I remember her being, and she was never as bad as Shiney! ;D)
I remember I joined in the EZBoard days to rip several new and excitingly-placed orifices into this jerk who said something really offensive about Brian -- I don't remember what it was, exactly, although it might've been some snotty attitude about his daring to try to make a living off the comic, something like that. I wasn't a mod until the TWC boards, though.

I've hung arond the GameFAQs boards for a couple of years before coming here short after this particular forum moved late last November. My favorite boards over at GameFAQs were the GameCube Soul Calibur 2 board, and the Viewtiful Joe board. (My account name was DarkMagnus007, in case anyone was wondering, 420 Karma)
GameFAQS has some great boards, but personally they don't compare to this place as far as personality goes. Heck, the inclusion of avatars alone adds immensly to the friendly atmosphere, since I can now easily identify who someone is just by looking at their pic, rather than read the name every single time at GameFAQs. That, and a lot more goes on here.
I don't really remember what I first did when I signed up, but I do remember the great Final Fantasy RP (the 1st one) in January, GM'd by Ecurt. Trust me, that one one awesome RP...

I actually became one of the moderators (Legionnaires(sp?)) on my first forums but was dropped out because I was too absent. My post count here pretty much tells you I'm no spammer because I've been on the NP forums for about a year or so and I still don't have even a nice round hundred post count. (98 post count at the time this reply was made)

My first forum was actually a friends. He made a forum for our friends, and I was a mod. We had about 75 members and we knew all of them. He decided to take it down though, so there not up anymore.. :sad face:

This was my first forums, way back before it had the new shiny look even. I dropped out of here for a while, spent a little time around the AllRPG forums, realized they sucked, and then came back here. I also do a little CoH forums browsing from time to time also.
Shiney said shitcock. Sweet.

:D I can see...
I forgott to add the first real memories I've had here. I could look up the first posts, but I am too lazy. I do remember that I first posted on some political discussions in the discussions forum and got a warning about double posting pretty quiqk, from DarthZeth if I remember correctly. Didn't double post again after that, but never deleted the one post either...So I guess it's still there. Well the first few days or maby weeks I spent mostly arguing in the discussion forum. Then I slowly found my way more and more towards the less serious discussions and...Well here I am. I guess...

Ah, I haven't posted my first forum memory either...well, I remember trying my best to not post way too much since I thought I would get in trouble. *was really scared of the mods back then* But that didn't stop me from making 100+ posts. Also, I was contacted that very first week by CheshireThief and Demon with a Glass Hand via PM. ^_^

FRugar was an ass. But yeah I was proud of my spamming abilities - specifically that for the most part I kept it amusing and on-topic. Probably the only damn reason I didn't get banned.
There were a few powerful competitors though, and by the time the spam forum became a reality (we had an actual spam forum then, kids) it was game way, way over for the 8bit forums of ezboard. But man those were good times.

My first real forum was probably over at the Fantasy Powers League, but when that stopped being to my taste, I didn't do more than lurk anywhere for years. Then I joined this place last year, in a "Critical Botch" thread about tabletop RPGs. I frequent here to read a lot, but post more on the GPF and Pockethouse forums. All in all, this was the first place to really make foruming worthwhile to me.
Thank you.

It was a lot harder to get banned back then, though, and you were never the spastic, desperately unfunny kind of spammer who makes you tired just by seeing their posting name.

You know, for the most part I would've never joined a forum as of two years ago. Then I found that I was very bored after leaving college. First forum was my publisher's forum, which was kind of dull for me. Nice pack of people, but most of them just weren't interesting. I joined the Nuklear Forums numerous months after that to defend my work after my paid ad was let loose on the site.
Since then I've found myself using this forum more often then I would've imagined. I've spammed several times, I think, and most of my attempts to be funny probably got met with a dry chuckle or a "where's this guy getting his opium?" reaction. No idea, really. Though my most memorable experience here was in the beginning when I was getting heat for "victimizing" S-E. Funny thing is at the time this guy named Kurosen was defending me, and I had no idea it was Brian himself.
I really did appreciate that, and never really expressed my gratitude. So I'll do so now, though it is a bit late. Brian... thank you... no matter your reasoning at the time... and disregarding that I paid you... thanks.
I also want to give thanks to John Cutting as he brought my attention to the matter. I hope he comes back soon.

The first forum I was in was an earthbound one, and I didn't stay there long because I was shunned for thinking there were lots of girl gamers out there. O_o;;;
Then I went to a Final fantasy one, and stayed there for awhile. I was the co-leader of the All Final Fantasy Club, and a member of the Al Bhed Club and the "Cult of Kefka". It got boring there, after all, there's only so much you can talk about Kefka. (for those who know what I'm talking about, the "Cult of Kefka" is where the WoA was born.)
Then after I left there I came to The Webcomic Forums, basically the begining of the 8bit forums, and I started RPing there like crazy, and it lead over to these 8-bit forums. ^^

My first ever forum I was at was two years ago on rpgrevolution.com (I can't remember if thats it, the website is dead now anyway from what I know.) And my first memory on there was me bitching about cell shading on the game 'XIII'. Then my computer died for the summer, I got it back and then joined the nuklearpower forums on TWC. My first memory there I think was talking about a MMORPG Harvest Moon game.

I think we were at ezboard slightly longer than we were at TWC. A few people from back then I kinda miss.
Ziro1, Tara, Balraznor, Boobachu (Boobachu!)...names of days gone past I spose.
Wonder why they didn't migrate with the rest of us.

The first forum I joined was an Everquest forum back in middle school (or maybe 9th grade, can't quite remember) when I first started playing Everquest. Thinking back it was really poorly run, and very spammy with lots of double and triple posting. It was fun though.

I've had some bad times with boards. I was on Draco's lair a long time ago, very briefly. Same name actually, though I only posted like twice before the whole thing blew up. Some a**hole flamed the group, got everybody yelling, then committed suicide. That was an UGLY experience. (I'm calling him an A**hole because he FAKED it just to get everybody upset...bastard!! I hate him for how upset my firend got over that. She was depressed for weeks)
Anyway, I went back and it's back up, but the RP is really different.
I tried to join a friend's RP, but it was a case of infant mortality. Same with the one my sister was a part of.
I hope I don't jinx this place too. It's the only thing I'm smiling about since coming to college. I love this place!

GameWinners. More specifically, the SSBM board. I posted a great deal there, under the name "gr8dane829", and then as "MewtwoX". Then, one day, I ran away, in fear, never looking back... for it entered the same thing that constricted the SSBM board on Gamefaqs...
The most hellish hole of flames I've ever seen...
... I mean the Tier Wars, for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about.
I'd never wish such a fate onto any board... and it's probably why I lurk so often...

My first forum was pinkpuff.net. I joined in it's second to last incarnation. I remember everyone had several pictures on their signatures, saying they were a Dragoon on FFT, or a some such thing on such and such game... Then the place got hacked, re-opened, and if I remember correctly, the actual text as far as pictures in sigs was "I don't care what you are!" They limited them to 1 per sig. I remember several religeous discussions, all of which I joined. Also some book and videogame things. But I was such a n00b back then. I remember the two Admins, McDohl and Kirby, and that they, too, had Rules of Iron-Fistedness (I think) Then the place got hacked, a third or maybe fourth time, and they gave up. Pity, too. They had a little character and battle system. I never won a single battle. I only fought once. Then, years later, I head of 8-Bit Theater on Newgrounds, read myself the entire archives section, and, after a while, decide to sign up on the forums. The rest, as they say, is history.
