I liked the mecha design, very organic and curvaceous, similar to my own designs. The plot was so-so, and the characters were real one sided. The best part about it were the mecha, and the space battles.

Yes, I've heard of it. It is sort of a pre-requisite to owning the series. Yes, the art/design of the series is good. The story is pretty good; not great, but better than a lot of other crappy anime I've seen (Brain Powerd comes to mind). It could also be a lot shorter than it is. Some of the episodes feel like filler.

I remembered the opening theme song just now, something about Romeo, the singer was a woman with a real deep voice, it was kind of catchy. just wanted to post that.
And the reason a lot of the episodes feel like filler is because they are! The plot was very thin, and it needed to be spread out over the course of at least one television season, so there you have it.
I would classify bubblegum crisis 2040 as being near the top of the bottom of the barrel. And yes, brain powered was worse. (much worse, ugh...)

It remains one my favorite animes, and the theme song one of my favorite songs.

yer it was an awesome series, I also remeber the opening song. Nene was hot (had to say it) did anyone else see the ending it was quite good were priss "done that thing with her thing" and they all ended up "like that" at the end. Plus that lil girl was a good bad guy. The whole series was good and i like it, did anyone know thier was a series before it, I think it was called, Bubblegum Crisis Toyko 2014. correct me if I'm wrong I want to see that series.

You mean she was singing while she was nekkid and you could see her breasts in full view. The final battle was really cool. I have the box set of DVDs and I watched it in dubs. I liked it somewhat more than the other box sets I have, such as Trigun and Orphen and Arc the Lad.

When talking about Bubble Gum Crisis Tokyo 2040 you need to be touchy on the subject, theres a Newer version and a Older version.
In the end of the newer one, Lina's/Nene's Suits run out of power and they begin to fall from orbit, they change the shape of their suit into a shape that can take the heat of Re-entry and it shows them going in.
Then at the very end it shows them layin on the beach with no suits b/c the suits burned up on re-entry.
