Any interest in...?

I've got an idea for a modern fantasy rp, psuedo based off of the X-Files. Basically, you would be a squad (around 4-7) of government agents who investigate paranormal and occult occurences. Is there any interest in this sort of RP?

Also, since I doubt this would take up an entire thread, I'm designating this a general, test the water sort of thread, to see if anyone wants to do said rp.

it really would depend on what the outline is. It dosnt sound interesting enough, since i really didnt watch x-file. but you probly could make it more interesting with more detail

It's not so much based off of the X-Files, more of an example of similar type settings. Besides plot and the actual squad make-up, that's really the basic gist of it. It would be as much about investigating and finding what's causing something to happen as stopping it.

It sounds good on paper, but you'd prolly have to cut off the entries at a low number. Otherwise, you're going to have a 10 man squad investigating the same apartment room and opening fire on the first zombie/alien that pops up.

that was fast. Well what will be the range in abilitys and such. And maybe what things will we be battling or will there not be any fighting (that would be diffrent, a completly mystory based rp)

So probably closer to a 4 person squad, and also, the squad would be made up of different talents, not all of which would be combat oriented (medic, for example, might not even carry a weapon). As for the actual makeup, I'm leaving that open for now, but picture something along the lines of a federal agent type (investigative skills, legal knowledge) a 'guns guy', a medic, and maybe some kind of occultist/mystic/psionic person. Enemy types, well, what kind of stuff is batted around most now, ghosts and poltergeists, aliens, undead, clones, mysterious disease, satanic cults (please no flaming from anyone on here who may be a satanist or feel offended by that statement), etc.

With that small of a group I'd be running the head of the organization (gives jobs) and the 'opposing forces' (anything else) in short I=GOD! mwahahahahahahahaha, power trip! ahem....

So you wont be a person in the group. alright thats like what i do (im not sheriff he is just an npc i run)

I think that you'll find that you have a ton of people who want to be gun guy or psycic dude and very few potential investigators or medics. You need to add some extra perks to those jobs to make them more popular. Don't do too good of a job though, just balance them out.

Duly noted. This wouldn't be a real 'combat heavy' rp, (again, think X-Files, they didn't even draw their guns until almost the 5th episode, and even then shot an inanimate object) so gun guy might actually be a weaker role. Second, the psychic might get changed into paranormal investigator, which would equate to things like psychometry (reading history off of objects) and occult knowledge. Medical person would also do autopsies, not a huge perk, but definitely fun. After the first run in with a hostile presense, everyone will love the medic.

If I could I would play an occultist ( a person who specializes in occult knowlegde and procedure) But not actually have any paranormal powers.
