And here's the first one, right here. (http://www.ffadvanced.com/finalfantasy/finalfantasymisc/ff_the_black_mages.php)

Personally, I like their remix of Gilgamesh's theme best. ^_^

There are other sites that sell them:
AnimeNation.com (http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/nsearch?catalog=animenation&.autodone=nsearch.html&query=The+Black+MAges)
Otaku.com and CDJapan.com also sell it, but they ship from Japan.
I would not suggest buying them off of eBay or Amazon.com, they sell bootlegs, really bad bootlegs, I tried, and the sound if faded and there are spots on the disk where the song 'pops'. Not worth it.

Excellent! I've read about these guys somewhere before, but I had no idea they had a 2 CDs out. Most excellent indeed.

Does anyone here have either of their CDs? On a scale of one to awsome, are they super great?

They're pretty good. Out of the 17 Final Fantasy Music CD's I have their first one is one of my favorites. I ordered the 2nd one, but the USPS just hates me, it's been 10 DAYS! 10 painful days of waiting.

The second one just came today. Otherworld is sung by a female, and IMO it sound's better than the FFX version. Here are some samples, Sadly, the samples do NOT do the CD justice. (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/uematsu/tbm2/index2.html)

The cd uses some calm guitar solo's that make a nice touch. The Skies Above (Track 10) is a remix of "Zanarkand" (Opening theme of FFX) starts with the piano version, then switches to a vocal rock. The voice is a little weird (Sung by some guy named 'Mr. Goo' ). This may be my 2nd favorite CD.

Yo, Number 81...it's not nice to double post. Against the rules ya know.

Anyways...I have heard of the Black Mages. I believe SanBaiShi burned me a copy of their songs, and I love them. ^_^ Especially the Zanarkand remix.

Otherworld? With female vocals? How am I supposed to get jiggy to that!? Bammit!

Anyway, I would order the CD, but the ways of online buying are foreign to me. I'll just look on Kaz--er....some legal paying music download program.

I have both of the Black Mages' albums to date.

If you have not gotten their second album yet, Skies Above, know that it sounds more like live instrumentation, even if it is still synthesized, and they rock out even harder this second time around. Even if you do not like the original versions, you are bound to like the Black Mages' renditions, especially if you are a fan of heavy rock.

Summary: The Black Mages: Highly recommended.

It sounds a lot better than you would think.
And like Varius said, it sounds more like a normal rock CD than a synth CD.

Final Fantasy VII battle theme...with cowbell.

This is now officially the greatest thing in existance.
