I was wondering if anyone played an instrument here, I'm a crazy music person. Also if you play an instrument post a song that you made or know. Heres the begining for Madness'es "One Step Beyond" on Bb Tenor sax (which I play) and Bb Clarinet, it might also be for trumpets but i'm not sure.

I play trombone for my school band. It's not very cool, but we do play some nice songs at the football and basketball games.

I'm a self taught guitarist, which means I can't read music. :(
I'm much better with vocals though, and I've written a few songs, heres one called mushroom girl
not funny on demand
its painful but its true
another lover canned
for not believing you
it must be great
the way you live
your awkward state
such take and give
and give...
nothing! nothing!
quit living in a fantasy, reality is waiting!
hot with jealous eyes
I'm love's carpet knight
never fought the field
sure I'll do alright
with sword enough to wield
but lets try honesty
instead of dirty rhyme
your feigning modesty
destroying angel you can't hide
you can't hide...
anything! anything!
quit living in a fantasy, reality is freying!
make believe genocide!
kiss me on the lips
though I don't think you'd dare
shake a little hip
maybe let down your hair
keep yourself locked away
from all this hateful romance
save the light for other days
Mushroom Girl how 'bout a slow dance?
there's no chance?
everything! everything!
quit living in a fantasy, reality is leaving!
no more cheap white lies, 'cause mushrooms don't have eyes...
to cry
just a happy little diddy :)

Let's see instruments that I play. Ok I play the Baritone/Euphonium, Trombone, bass trombone, alto trombone, valve trombone, sakbut, Tuba, contra C tuba, F tuba, Sousaphone, Trumpet, a little piano, and recorder. But I'm mainly a vocalist singing Tenor, Alto, and Soprano and I've never written anything for a solo instrument only solo voice, and instrumental combos, so unless I post the midi (which I did one in another thread) it would be difficult to post my music.

Nine years of violin. I kinda stopped after high school, as I'm not exactly good enough to play on my own or audition into a symphony. I miss it though.
Now I'm pretty much only a classical guitar guy. Self taught at first, then actual classes my senior year. Now I'm back to self-teaching.
I play flute and piccolo for my high school
It's so much fun ^^
except our marching band is still very small (it used to be 1A and last season it was 5 people over, which made us a shit small 2A)
That wasn't really what made our band suck though... our brass is horrible and they don't care *sigh*
wow... it's good to know that we aren't the only high school that has to play pep tunes at basketball games... We used to only play for football games but starting tuesday we are attending basketball games as well.
Hey if anyone else is in their high school wind ensemble (symphonic band or whatever it's called at your school) could you guys tell me what music you might be performing? Sorry, but my band geekness has made me curious what everyone is playing for their concert band lol
(woodwinds love Bach!) :bmage:

Played violin for nine years, going on ten. The best stuff I've played so far have been the soundtrack to LoTR, and the entire Messiah score...which I played every year for four straight years.
Actually, I'm in the market for Messiah sheet music if anyone can get me some. Amazon.com is perpetually sold out and no one's parting with their copies on eBay.

Digital composition over here. I can read a bit of sheet music though, and I'd love to be able to play a Rhodes Piano. XD
EDIT: Lemme just clarify that "digital" does not instantly mean "techno". I know that Mr. Wind-Up is gone -- HOORAH! I mean, er, *ahem* -- so I really shouldn't have to bother, but, y`know, lettin' you folk know.
For, like, the 3rd time now.
Ahoy.

ahoy Chicago! didn't you do some kind of remix for that daft punk song. I think it was called work it or something.
I listened to that a long time ago, when I followed the link to your webpage, it like so totally rocked!
I was on the verge of learning how to digitize my tunes, but then my computer exploded. This was of course over a year ago,and I am too lazy to get a new one. But, yeah...
ahoy!

I think that's Minimal House. Yeah. Man, did that one a while ago. But good to know you liked it.

I have been singing for since 2nd grade through 7 years of college. I was trying to get a degree in music education, but stopped a couple classes shy. By the time I was almost done, I was burnt out and needed a break. I also wanted to spend time with my growing family. But in the course of my studies I have had to learn many instruments in woodwinds, precussion, brass, strings. I know how to play the basics of just about anything, but not really good at any of them. I have even had to teach choir classes in the school district.
For those classes I have had to write pieces of music for my class to play as well as other assignments. So I know how to read musical very well because of my studies. I also can write music, but I have a little trouble when writing for several instruments at once because of all the stupid little rules we had to follow in school. They tried to tell us you had to know all the rules by heart before you were allowed to break them.
I love to sing and would have loved to been able to sing in a musical. I am my instrument of choice, but I do like to play around with a piano/keyboard even though my left hand doesn't always want to work with my right. I would love to pick up several instruments again and relearn them, but that will probably have to wait for a couple more years.

I'm in a school band so i'm into all of the woodwinds and brass stuff. For me the coolest instrument is tenor sax, like I said, I play it but i'm still not all that great. Alto is just too small. Next is trombone, ska rules. After that would probably be a basoon. My sis plays and is awesome. Sure I like rock but a ska solo or beat from a sax or trombone is 100 times better than a guitar solo. Chicago I listened to that mix, pretty good stuff.
I play guitar. If I had the time I'd love to play the trombone. It's sort of been a sick obsession of mine for awhile now, but untill I actually sit down amd learn i'll be strummin' the old geetar.
My weapon of chioce is a blue ibanez artcore.

I play Guitar and I like to sing. NOTE! "Like to"!
I'm not gonna post a song I know. Why? Cause the song I'm thinking of is god damn long.
You'll just have to do with that.

Guitar, bass, flute (ages ago >.<), and I'd like to learn drums n' stuff. Any music I've written or covered and shared can be found in the thread "Original Music".
As for music I know, I know some licks from a lot of songs, like Iron Man ([Black Sabbath], guitar), Born of a Broken Man ([Rage Against the Machine], whole song guitar and bass), Back in Black ([AC/DC], bass), 5 Minutes Alone ([Pantera], whole song guitar and bass), Enter Sandman ([Metallica], whole song guitar and bass), Reload ([Ministry], whole song bass (tabbed it myself, as a matter of fact)), Godfather theme (whole song on guitar), and Civil War ([Guns n' Roses], guitar intro only both parts), just to name a few.
I actually don't play a lot, and I don't practice at all, so... I kinda suck. :-P
Since you seem to want people to post songs, I'll post a microtab of Ministry's Reload:
Ministry - Reload : from "Filth Pig"

I took about 10 years of piano lessons and still play from time to time. I'm looking into getting my old keyboard back so I can goof around on it when I'm bored. I'd post some sheet music, but I don't have any on hand right now. I've downloaded a lot of sheet music from final fantasy and other games, but I usually just goof around and make up my own stuff. I haven't gotten around to writing down any of my own comositions though.

Over time I played...
Trumpet (2 Years)
Tuba (barely)
Baritone (1 Year)
Clarinet (3 Years)
In that order. ANd as much as it might sound weird...I know there was a 5th instrument I played but I can't remember it right now..... I never was really a big fan of band and eventually quit but I tried a veriety of insturments. However, I always wanted to play either the Oboe or the Violin but my instructors would never let me. Hence why I quit music...
And I can read both bass and treble clefs. I should try to learn piano since I'm somewhat ambidextrious (sp) and can read them both already.

I have (formally) played clarinet for 6 years, and oboe for a little over 1 year now.
I play oboe in concert band now and clarinetfor solo & ensemble, and marching band (because, hell if I'm going to pay $8 a reed whenever I break a reed in marching band (Oboe reeds are $8 each))

I have played bass (not the bass guitar) for 2 years before giving up on it. I'm also currently taking guitar lessons, so I play the guitar as well.

ok, here is a midi arangement I made of When Doves Cry. If any of you want a copy of the score, let me no and I'll try to get a PDF version of it for you, or if you have the program Noteworthy Composer, that's what I wrote it with.

That's awesome, most of the people who try to do that song never end up having it that good.

I play the Ocarina :3
Ok - I own two and blow in them from time to time, I am thinking of actually learning songs on them, instead of trying to play the Zelda tunes by ear :P
I also have a Recorder and I cam play such master pieces, such as 'London's Burning', 'Mary had a little Lamb' and 'Cosmo Canyon/Nanaki theme tune from FF7'!

Am I the only one here who plays percussion instruments? I've been playing that since the Fifth grade. I was in the school band for seven years after that. I stopped in college since I had too much stuff to do, though I usually do tap my fingers on a classroom desk better than anyone. My instrument of coice was the timpani; I'd beat the shit out of that when I had to play.
I would like to learn how to play the piano. I understand the basics of that instrument, but I would like to be good at the actual playing of a piano.
