So, we can't make polls, so here I am making a thread!
So here it is:
I love it
I hate it
I don't have it but think that it will be good
I don't have it but think that it will be cr*p
None of the above
I love it!
Do you?

There had better be more elaborate answers than that, else we'll go closey-closey on this thread. I'm also taking out the "Poll" from the title since it isn't one (not anymore it ain't). There's a very good reason shiney disabled user-made polls, you know.
Also, someone seems to enjoy weaseling his way around the rules and trying to get us on formalities. On them an eye shall be kept.

The short: I love it and I hate it.
The long: I love about the first half of the series and I hate everything after. It's not really a definite point in the series; it sorta happens over a few volumes. The 'romeo and juliet' story and the story with the big talking demon cat at the carnival were two of many signs it was going down hill for me. I don't know when it happened, but eventually the whole town suddenly knew about Ranma's 'curse' and I hated that too. I loved the early stories where he would get into crazy situations and his cover would almost be blown, but then he'd pul through somehow. I loved the stories where he and Ryoga were always fighting and all the akward situations he got into with Shampoo. And, of course, all the crazy stuff between him and Akane. That was comedy gold.
Don't even talk to me about the idiot principal with a tree in his hair or the playing-card look-alike who turns the Tendo's dojo into a casino for little kids *shudder*. I think I have up to volume 16 or 17 and I won't be buying any more.

Thank you to C-Dog for making this a somewhat viable topic.
And the king had one of the best of lines! "Royal. Straight. Flush. Yeeuh..all lose."

Well, the repeating of stuff in Ranma 1/2 is Takahashi's style. (I probably spelled her name wrong) She creates original characters in original settings....then goes absolutely nowhere with the story. Thus, you get about 30 volumes of the same thing.
To make it simple, go with what C-dog says. By some of the manga (because some of it is indeed worth it) but don't go for the whole thing.

Agreed. She does try to make you believe she's going somewhere at first though. Throughout the volumes at the beggining of the series, the story does progress somewhat. The characters gain more depth. New characters are introduced at a slow rate, giving us time to get to know them. Eventually though, each new storyline begins with everyone forgetting what they learned in the last storyline and new zany characters are thrown at you from every direction *cough*bigdemoncat*cough*. I can only hope she doesn't take the same path with Inuyasha. She's going strong with that series so far.

... he says to a group of 4-year-olds as though he was in a serious poker game. Ugh, you've jogged my memory, shiney. I had almost forgotten everything about that guy. Now I have to spend the next month trying to forget about him again.

You're right, but still, it's fun looking
at how Ranma and Ryoga fight over Akane.
I have read only 3 22 24 26 and 28
but still, it's good.

From what I've heard, she did the same thing to Inuyasha. Even the movies are like extended episodes (I've watched two of them myself)
Well, I especially like up to the...first ten of the manga. After that it went downhill for me.
