Cute creatures in Anime. Pictures within.

I watched Spirited Away last night. I bought it on DVD a while ago and finally settled down enough to watch it. Although some of the creatures made me raise a brow, I couldn't help but go awwwww at the little soot creatures in the boiler room.

Mappy, that cute little mouse creature in the picture. Adorable. He grows to be large and protect his friends. Aw.

Kilala. While I don't have any pics of her(him?), she's just damn awesome. I don't watch Inuyasha enough to know everything, but my understanding is that she is, basically, a ninja fox. She's all cute and little most of the time, but turns into a giant fiery fox thing with teeth and claws. I saw a plushie of her at Suncoast recently, and wanted it so bad.

Tachikomas. Yes, they're mobile battle tanks, but I think they fit the bill. They're just adorable, and come complete with innocent little AIs. The best thing ever was seeing Motoko and one of the other Section 9 guys (with the beard) talking about trying to program in a concept of punishment into them. They turn to look at the one they brought... who's spending its idle time playing a GBA. Priceless.

Ahiru - A girl who turns into a duck...and the duck is amazingly cute and funny. Princess Tutu.

Kakashi's Dog - Forgot his name too....Kakashi's Dog from Naruto.

Those would be them, but Nyaa Nyaa looks kinda like a cross between Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service and the Black Cat from Trigun.

While we're on that....Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service. Like Kero-chan. -_-

And how about the Fox Animal from Nausicca, which a grouping of them also appear in Laputa: Castle in the Sky. And then there's the Kodama from Mononokehime.....

Miyazaki's movies are filled with them.

And I was wrong on 2 points before. The dog is Akamaru (and he's not Kakashi's dog) and Ahiru isn't a girl who turns into a duck...but to tell you what she really is would be to ruin the shows story. And Princess Tutu has one of the biggest stories in an Anime I have ever seen.

My friend mentioned that Nyaa Nyaa looks like the Black Cat from Trigun, also. I'm pondering that they're made by the same people? They like to do that occasionally.

Pita Ten was made by Broccoli, who did DiGI Charat and Chiisai Snow Fairy Sugar. Trigun was done by Bones, which also did work on the Cowboy Bebop movie, Full Metal Alchimest and some other smaller shows.

So, sorry...they're kinda different. REALLY different actually.

Yes, but the ideas behind them are eventually the same. Kind've gets you to wondering if they share script writers/design artists. I guess similarities are commonplace, but when you get so many small characters that look the same, it makes you think. ;)

Well....I donno what you mean. That kind of 'look' for a cat is kind of taken from an older American source and it is a stereotypical look for a black Asian cat (even in Disney I can think of some examples).

Anyway....all I can tell you is Pita Ten is TOTALLY different from Trigun. Nearly opposites. Pita Ten is a cute/comedy/love story set in Modern Day Japan and Trigun is an action/drama/comedy set on another planet.

You can go to www.animenfo.com and check if the same writers worked on it, although like I said, they're two different groups who do many works so I think probably not.

Being a guy, I don't have very many opinions of cute. However, being a cat-lover, Kilala off of Inuyasha always just makes me say:

"Okay, how can you not like that cat? Not only it is it loyal, friendly, and just plain cute, but it kicks major butt when it wants too."

I tell ya, a cat like that is too good to be true. Which makes sense, because it's not true. Too bad, though.
