Okay guys, here's the run down.
Each person, with few exceptions, get's the following:
A. 4 new Items, which include Weapons, Armour, and various trinkets (such as Gugs inventions)
B. 6 Enchantments for Weapons or Armour.
C. 2 Upgrades, one for a weapon, one for a piece of armour.
Enchantments are as follows:
Weapon Runes
Swift: Cuts weight of weapon in half, allowing for faster, more powerful swings and blocks.
Shockwave: Miniature shock blast when tip of blade impacts, or when a club weapon strikes, causing more damage.
Longevity: Temper on blades, eliminating wear and tear, and ensuring eternal sharpness.
Silent Edge: Enlongates blade on a microscopic level, making the edge of the blade so thin that it can slice through almost anything. Triples Damage a blade can cause.
Balance: Shifts center of gravity through blade relative to wielders hand, allowing for complex maneuvers.
Recoil: Shifts 1/2 of an enemy strikes momentum back at them during a parry.
Return: Throwing weapons return to thrower.
Temper: Molecularly bonds weapon, Doubling Durability.
Armour Runes.
Shared Burdon: Cuts weight of armour in half, allowing for greater mobility.
Stealth: Absorbs sound emited by armour, as to not give position away.
Re-enforce: Molecularly bonds armour, doubling durability.
Stasis: Prevents denting, rust and general wear and tear. Allows armour to flex with user.
Upgrades can include almost anything, like Metrius's future flail-mace, Finishing Jerick's Bastard sword, or changing the metal in your weapon/armour.
Post what you want, and we'll nitpick so that Volcanus can hook you up.
Edit: Narg. Forgot the Exceptions: most NPC's will recieve a little less; and because of Osiris' advanced weaponry, he only gets:
3 enchantments and one upgrade.

These enchantments are examples, yours may be slightly different. If so, they must be run past me.
SAAM, erase that last enchantment...they aren't supposed to know about it yet.

Now, I'm not sure of this, so... would upgrading to a full suit of mithril chain from the vest be, well, an upgrade? Or would it be a new item?
slightly aboveaverage man
03-09-2005, 03:26 PM
It could be either. T'is the beauty of Upgrades. Upgrades and Enchantments can also be used on new weaponry and armour.
And for those of you getting a full suit of armour or something, the Upper half and Lower half are two different items, same with Gauntlets.
I'll start.
GABRIEL
Item 1: Knightmare; Diamond Zweihander.
Item 2: Titanium Plate Armour (upper body)
Item 3: Titanium Gauntlets
Item 4: Titanium Helm
Rune 1: Swift (Zweihander)
Rune 2: Silent Edge (Zweihander)
Rune 3: Balance (Zweihander)
Rune 4: Shared Burdon (Upper Body Armour)
Rune 5: Stasis (Upper Body Armour)
Rune 6: Re-enforce (Upper Body Armour)
Upgrade (weapon): Steel Retractable Wrist blade added to right Gauntlet.
Upgrade (Armour): Steel Plate Armour to Titanium Plate Armour (Lower body)
Edit: We're also adding a new Metal class: Mithril Alloy. It's a powerful metal that fuses the Durability and light weight of Mithril with the Rigid consistancy and forging ability of Steel. AKA, good for blades. Better than Obsidian, but weaker than Diamond.

SAAM, you save me so much effort. You're my bestest pal! *sends a minion to give SAAM's entire family castles, big TVs, and heaps of gold*
I got the idea for the Mithril alloy from some of the references in Tolkien's work, where he says that the elves made an alloy from it that made up Bilbo's (later Frodo's) chainmail.
My Lead Airbag
03-09-2005, 04:20 PM
Ok...uhm, preliminary ideas...
Custom fitted chainmail/flexible chestplate
Shield
Magical Goggles of some sort (like a telescope over one eye, magic detectors and the such)
Some sort of mechanical braces to increase leg strength/make him taller
Plus, the usual enhancements and rune goodness.
EDIT: Would a magic sucking rune work? Not all, just fire magic.
slightly aboveaverage man
03-09-2005, 04:32 PM
You could get the chainmail with the Stasis Rune. It prevents denting by allowing the metal to warp a bit, also allowing for more flexibility.
Shield of course.
I like the goggles idea. Possibly a modification of Anti-magic technology. It could also have the binocular sight thingy as one might expect.
I'm not sure about the leg braces though, I'll let DB handle that one.
As for the Rune, It'll be a joint GM decision, as Cloud has asked for something similar.
Cloud Strife
03-09-2005, 05:14 PM
Okay then, here's my stuff that I want:
ITEMS:
Earth Medallion: A decorated gold amulet on a chain with an enchanted emerald in the center that can store Earth energy within the emerald for use later (like if I needed some energy to make a spell, but there wasn't any around), or to give an extra burst of power in a spell, if energy has already been stored within it.
Regen Ring: I think it's rather obvious here. Uses energy drawn from the earth to it automatically to heal wounds and such (when needed), but won't work if the wearer is not in contact with the earth (Examples include being on a ship or at the Avariel City).
Twin mithril alloy throwing daggers, with dragonhead hilts.
Can't think up anything else right now. I'll get back to you later.
RUNES:
Weapon: Swift, Shockwave. Return enchantment on the throwing daggers.
Armor: Shared Burden, Stealth, Reinforce.
Weapon upgrade is the mace/flail. Think Ivy's whipsword from SCII. Metrius will be able to control the chain's movement, too. I believe this has already been passed by SAAM.
Armor upgrade, as I said, is the full suit of the same mithril chainmail that is in his vest.
slightly aboveaverage man
03-09-2005, 05:56 PM
Mace/flail, Throwing Daggers and Armour approved, The chain-links will be Titanium.
I've PMed DB about the Ring and amulets. We shall see what happens.
Just remember to specify what enchantments are on what.
lazy man
03-09-2005, 09:23 PM
Alrighty then, I'll try my hand at this.
Items: 1) A new suit of Mithril chainmail.
2) More metal shards, only this time made of titanium for more endurance.
3) Titanium plates covering his forearms for easy blocking. These double as the storage spot for his metal shards since he magnetizes them when he's not using the little pieces of metal and doesn't have to do anything else with them.
4) Titanium shin guards for extra hurt on a kick, or armor for low blows. Another storage spot for the metal shards.
Enchantments: 1) Silent Edge (sword)
2) Shockwave (sword)
3) Return (metal shards (just in case he feels lazy))
4) Shared Burdon (chainmail)
5) Stasis (chainmail)
6) Recoil (forearm guards)
Uprgrades: Armor- The new suit of chainmail can come apart and come back together when Jerick uses a spell on it. The outer edges of it are also razor sharp, so it's like the metal shards he had way back when, so he can throw them around when he uses it. This is more for drastic situation when he can't use anything else, or just needs more things flying around. (If this stuff can't be manipulated, then I'll just think of something that makes it plausible)
Weapon- Jerick has pretty much perfected his sword at this point. Keeping the diamond edge, he replaced the steel in it with Mithril Alloy. He did this himself, since he doesn't really want anyone doing anything with it. (same as above with the manipulating thing)
There we go. Changes needed shall be made as soon as possible.
slightly aboveaverage man
03-09-2005, 09:35 PM
Okay, Chainmail, Titanium plates, Shin guards, and both upgrades approved (The steel in the Mithril alloy makes it magnetic)
But the Titanium Shards will need to be either Steel/iron, or contain steel/iron cores, because Titanium isn't magnetic here.
Edit: and you don't have to split your armour/weapon enchantments down the middle. You can have a mix, 5 of one and 1 of another; 4 of one and two of another, or Three of each.

03-09-2005, 09:39 PM
Ok then, changes made. Now I'm actually getting anxious for something to happen.
Darth SS
03-09-2005, 09:39 PM
Alec's stuff?
A. Kick ass sword (mithril alloy), new armor (gaunlets and torso, mithril alloy as well)
B. Scimitar: Silent Edge x2
Scimitar: Temper
Scimitar: Longevity
New armor: Shared Burden
New Armor: Stealth
C. Upgrades?
His longsword has been changed to a Mithril Alloy as well, as well as keeping its old runes. (Longevity x2 and Temper x2)
Armor? The mithril-alloy armor doesn't have any light that will reflect off of it, making it matte.
Damn, I wanted to put at least another rune on the armor, but oh well. I think this will all tide Alec over well. Assuming he gets a chance to go stealth soon.
BTW, the scimitar is supposed to look like the Eagle Sword from Prince of Persia:Warrior Within
slightly aboveaverage man
03-09-2005, 09:41 PM
SS, you're missing an Item. You only have three: the scimitar, and two pieces of armour.
Edit: you COULD get one of those Chameleon cloaks that we had way back in one of the first chapters or something similar. I can't remember if we ditched them or not.
Darth SS
03-09-2005, 09:43 PM
I know...I can't think of anything to give Alec though.
WAIT!
Magic amulet: This Amulet continuously gathers magical energy in it, taking about 2 days to be fully charged. However, once fully charged, Alec can use it to recharge himself.

Is a diamond harpoon and obsidian javalins really that advanced?
slightly aboveaverage man
03-09-2005, 09:47 PM
Yup. They're powerful metals of their own rights. Diamond is still more durable and sharper than Mithril Alloy, remember. As I recall, you also have other weapons too. You now have the chance to upgrade them, and Enchant them.
I'll get back to y'all on the Amulets.

I'm assuming that my daggers count as a set.
Items:
Diamond Daggers (I can't upgrade my daggers that far)
Mithril Shirt (Same as above)
More items later.
Enchantments:
1.Longevity(Glaive)
2.Silent Edge (Glaive)
3.Temper (Glaive)
4.Swift (Glaive)
5.Return (Daggers)
6.Re-enforce (Mithril Shirt)
Upgrdes:
Steel Coating on Glaive changed to Obsidian.
For later.
And because it's becoming a pain to go to the sign up to look at it again I'm posting the metal sheet here.
Adamant: Most powerful substance on earth, and also the rarest. While not indestructable, it's density and weight make it extremely difficult to wear or wield, though it will have to take a great deal of damage from a Diamond Blade to penetrate. Resistance to all elements, not magnetic. Best for Defense.
Diamond: Strongest metal for cutting, and can penetrate even Adamant after a good barage. Can cut through Mithril with a very powerful blow, or repeated attacks on the same spot. Impractical for armour, though it can break the weapons of many a foe. Resistance against all Elements, Best for offense, no defensive qualities.
Mithril: An extremely rare and powerful metal, and yet as light as cotton. It takes a great deal of damage from an enchanted blade or a powerful blow from Diamond before it can be penetrated. Resistance to Fire, Ice and Lightning, weak against Earth and Wind. Not magnetic, Second Best for Defence, No Offensive qualities with exception of Whips.
Obsidian- A powerful black metal which balances impressive cutting power, with a light weight and good durability. Has Great Offense, and Great Defense. Resistance to Lightning, Wind, and Earth, Weak against Fire and Ice. Not Magnetic.
Titanium- A heavy and durable substance, Titanium is best used in Metal Plate armour, though it is quite cumbersome when used in a weapon form. Great Defense, moderate Offense. Weak against Lightning, and Earth, resistance to Fire, Ice, wind and Water.
Susceptable to Magnetism.
Steel- A well balanced metal that proves to have excellent cutting power, though it's defensive qualities are lacking in comparison to previously mentioned metals. Weak against Lightning, Water, Air and Ice. Resistance to Earth, and Fire. Magnetic. Great Offence, moderate defense.
Iron- A common metal used in standard armours. Weak against all elements, magetic. Moderate Defense, Moderat Offense.
Leather- Weak... It's basically tanned animal hide. worst form of armour aside from being buck naked. useless in offence with exception of whips, defense will provide protection from only glancing blows from Obsidian or less, long range arrow shots, and daggers. weak against all elements. not magnetic.
slightly aboveaverage man
03-10-2005, 10:24 AM
Well I'll be damned. Susceptable to magnetism. Sorry about that, Lazy; I thought I'd specified that titanium was non-magnetic.

So, since the mithril armor that Metrius is upgrading to has the reinforce rune, how much would it take to penetrate his armor now?
slightly aboveaverage man
03-10-2005, 12:05 PM
It would take an enchanted Diamond blade, Diamond tipped wind arrow, one of Gwaethir's/Kiiri's wind blades or a Heavily Enchanted Obsidian/Mithril alloy blade. But remember, it's only chain mail, so a heavy blow from a Mace or other clubbing instrument won't pierce your armour, but could easily smash your ribs, break bones, cause internal bleeding, etc.
Dragonsbane
03-10-2005, 01:15 PM
I'm going to assume the cloaks were lost, even Hakar's, which he had at the start of the RP.
Mithril Alloy Chainmail, Stealth, Reinforce, and Stasis. (3 enchantments + one upgrade). Elven chainmail is very light anyway, due to its mithril construction, so Shared Burden isn't necessary to make it mobile. In fact, well-made suits of elvish chainmail are often compared to wearing a heavy shirt in terms of weight and mobility restrictions.
Sword is self-updating to Diamond (one upgrade), and already has Swift from absorbing the properties of Hakar's old sword. New properties include Longetivity and Silent Edge. (2 enchantments)
Since his dagger was lost, Hakar is getting a Elven Bow, with a quiver of Obsidian arrows. The quiver has the Return property cast on it, so that arrows return to it after a certain amount of time. (final enchantment + 1 item)
Headband of Mental Focus (allows the wearer to better focus their mind, meaning that Hakar would have an easier time fighting while using his powers, but it grants no bonus to the power of his Mind-element spells, or how long it takes to recharge them.)
Chameleon cloak (referred to simply as "woodland cloak" by the Rikklainian elves), since he lost his old one (final item).
His armor is still a sand-white color, at his request.
Shockwave property can be replaced by another, similar elemental attack if you choose. Flaming or Freezing, for instance.

New Adamant shield
New Adamant chestplate
Head goggles (with telescope, magic detectors, and other utility functions to be determined later)
Mithril Leg Braces (ups Gug's height to about chest level with the others, improves overall leg strength)
Enchantments
Shared Burden and Ren-Enforce on the Shield
Shared Burden, Re-Enforce, and Stasis on the Chestplate
Stealth on Leg Braces
Upgrades are just making the shield and Chestplate adamant.

Okay...
Cloud and Super Saiyan: The two Runestones that give you two extra mana have been aproved, If you had run out of strength to cast, they allow you to do about half as much as you could if you were at full strength.
Also Metrius' Ring will be Damage based in its healing, If he's near death, the ring will heal all wounds very slowly, taking about a week for him to fully recover. If the wound is nothing big like a cut, bruise or slight burn, it'll heal within ten minutes. Got it?
MLA: Nobody is getting Adamant this time around. Besides, even with the "Shared Burdon" enchantment, the weight of the metal would make Gug topheavy, and constantly knock him over; plus he wouldn't be able to lift the shield enough for it to make a difference. Remember, Adamant is EXTREMELY heavy; the only reason why Gabriel could lift Thanatos in the first place was because of the special enchantment Delmenon put on it.
However, you can still change them to Mithril-alloy, mithril chain-mail, or Titanium.
Leg braces approved, but they'll reduce your overall speed. Basically, no scampering away while your wearing them. This means you can keep them stored in your goody-bag. You'll also be kind of like the Goliath: stronger, but unsteady; be careful not to be knocked Off-balance
Edit: And here are your NPC's
Arthos
Item 1: 3 Titanium Ninja Stars (about the size of one's palm, Triple blade like a propellor)
Item 2: Mithril-chainmail.

Ench3: Balance (Staff)
Upg1: Iron Staff to Obsidian

Thanatos, by the way, was NOT a good weapon to judge your own by. It was intentionally made out of unfairly powerful materials, for a specific purpose, and Gabriel could only wield it for a certain period of time in the RP...he's not taking it out of elf-land, if I recall correctly.

Here you go SAAM; by the way my glaives coating is being changed to obsidian not titanium.
Goblin Mines * 3
Chameleon Cloak
Mithril Shirt (Upper Body)
Any suggestions for the last item?
Enchantments:
1. Longevity (Glaive)
2. Silent Edge (Glaive)
3. Temper (Glaive)
4. Swift (Glaive)
5. Return (Daggers)
6. Re-enforce (Mithril Shirt)
Upgrades:
Steel Coating on Glaive changed to Obsidian.
Daggers Changed to Diamond.
Goblin Mines
To the casual observer, all Goblin mines do is explode, but that is as far from the truth as possible. In reality, goblin mines are quite possibly the best thing for taking out enemies, and not being there while it happens (besides a large army waiting to ambush them). Goblin mines are kept at all times when there not being used, in a small box, filled with a liquid which prevents them from exploding. This liquid immediately oxidizes on contact with air; thanks to this the mines can be used immediately after removal. When you place a goblin mine on the ground the first thing that happens is, that a small drill quickly digs a hole under the mine. When the top of the mine is at ground level, technologies which resemble that of the Chameleon Cloak, immediately blend it to its surrounding. When the Goblin mine is stepped on, it explodes violently, most likely killing the person who stepped on it. The mine is cunningly crafted from obsidian, to prevent detection and moving by magnetic magic. And that my friend is a Goblin mine.
PS: I made that all up from the top of my head.

That works, but you'd have to get Gug to make them for you. Outside of an approaching battle, it'd be hard to find a practical use for them, though. I don't see anything particularly horrible about them though. I'll allow it.
Also, I know that the Glaive is to be obsidian, but you can't just suddenly boost a metal to the top or anything. You have to re-forge in stages. First change it from Steel to Titanium, then change that Titanium to Obsidian, Obsidian to Diamond, etc etc.
as for suggestions, you could have a helmet, magic amulet for more power, electric-shock gauntlets, arm shield, grappling hook, Bows & arrows, Gugs Patented Berry Grenades, etc etc. Be creative.

Hook him up with Jolly Rodger, and an escort will take you back to the ship, where you can retrieve some equipment or something, and then bring you to quickly visit a few towns to search for survivors. If said survivors are found, you, Jolly, and anyone else who comes with will return to the Elven Town, and depending on everyone elses posts, we'll all do our "where to next" Brainstorming and head off.
Unless you mean his extra item, in which I suggest you get some sort of armour.

Huzzah. I would have done it yesterday, but my brain was nearly fried as SAAM's from a paper I had to write. Gomen nasai.

Oh, I was confused. I meant that portal to be outside of the town we were in, I guess you thought the portal was mean for the town we were headed too. I'm going to delete the last post ok?

SAAM, your words are strange to me, as these things called "Kilometres" are doubtless some crazy Canadian term for measuring distance, because your county is composed of uncivilized barbarians who do not grasp the beauty and glory of the Mile.
CT...welcome back, buddy.
Cloud Strife
05-13-2005, 11:49 AM
For simple reference, 1.6 Kilometers = 1 mile. Simple, yes?
Also: Welcome back, CT. I'm sure SAAM appreciates having one less character he needs to control.

No one disses Canadia on my watch.
Also...how long will it be until Alec has to bust out his mad noble negotiation skeelz.

For your information Elves are Metric.

Any battling or extremely cool things happening soon? Cuz I need to bust out my mad role playing skillz.

Don't worry, SAAM will think of something. He usually takes a couple chapters to do something battle related after something big happens, and something big just happened a chapter and a half ago, so it shouldn't be too long until we're attacked by bandits or something.

What? You were expecting another Goliath maybe?
There will be a choice of battle theaters sometime soon. That is all you need know.

An army of Goliaths. Yes, I'm not kidding, and there is NO black text after this message! Really! complete and utter bunkum, no army of Goliaths. Don't listen to the bad man's lies.
Alec is going to be thrown into a pit of horny, burly, orc homosexuals for that indignity, SS! Doorknobs, of all things...and I love Canada.

Then get with the rest of the world and go Metric, damnit!
And they're not homosexual; they just haven't enjoyed the company of female orcs for quite some time. It's purely siduational.

What, is that the same thing with dwarves? You can't tell which is male or female...they all have freakin beards!!!
I don't mind metric at all.....
Dragonsbane
05-15-2005, 04:33 PM
Well, female orcs have breasts.
Then get with the rest of the world and go Metric, damnit!
And they're not homosexual; they just haven't enjoyed the company of female orcs for quite some time. It's purely siduational.
So, it's like prison? Alec, being clean, skinnier, and fresh-faced, would be in deep trouble then...

Alec? Clean? Hardly. He'd most likely fit in/Disappear.
Dragonsbane
05-16-2005, 12:39 AM
Clean by orc standards...wait, we're talking about Alec. Women cover themselves in mud just so he'll give them a passing glance. Little kids roll in dirt trying to emulate him. Pigs, well...pigs worship him. He is the Hero of Filth...but it's cool, because he makes it awesome.

RMB, do you mean Dranu which is my character? Because Alec and Hakar where talking out loud and it's Dranu and Hakar who is mind talking. I am also curious as to how you would explain picking up signals of mind talking, even though I am not familiar with it. Though I think Dragonsbane will pursue this issue further.

Yeah, unless you're a Mind user, you couldn't pick up on a mental conversation like that.

Ya know what, I've really been thinking about something Jerick has, and I just never thought about announcing it. However, now I really feel like saying it out loud, since I just thought it was pretty cool. And this cool thing: Jerick's metal shards. They have Return runes on them. Now think for a minute, that means Jerick can just throw them, not care, and they'll come back to him.
So basically, Jerick is now a machine gun if he's constantly chanting. Can't wait for a battle... Can kick so much ass...
In other news, the lacrosse season ends after tomorrow, so I should have a LOT more free time to work on responses and such. Plus more time to write a good post without screwing with my homework. Yay!
Red Mage Black
05-17-2005, 07:57 AM
its just basically a ding like a bell, he doesn't know that anyone is conversing. Its like sometimes when you (or at least heard about) pick up radio signals in your mind, like a strange noise. You don't have to respond to the post, my character was just trying to let them know.
Dragonsbane
05-17-2005, 11:41 AM
But you can't pick up radio signals in your mind. That whole post is ridiculous. What would possibly give your character the ability to pick up on that conversation, even if he doesn't know it IS a conversation?
Lazy, if you spend enough time focusing on that trick, you won't even need to chant, just concentrate on the spell. Of course, you can also control where the shards go...so, with some Silent Edge and durability increases...I'd compare Jechir to a machine gun that can control where its bullets are going, a whirling bladestorm of reaving yet purposeful death.
Red Mage Black
05-17-2005, 12:07 PM
doesn't matter anymore I've already edited it, discussion about it over. I like the shards idea but would see how it help without hitting the rest of us with them. We need to declare some serious pwnage on something soon or....nevermind. Because my person is light elemental would that make him like a paladin seeing as though he's all white?

Or a member of the Klu Klux Klan...
No, not really. There's no real "Class system" here. He'd be a Knight or Dragoon most likely.
and yeah, no picking up radio signals in your mind. And besides, mentalists don't communicate through radio anyway. *slaps*
In other news, I've got a long work week, so my posts will continue to be a little on the rare side. Sorry for the delays. with that said, I'm off to work.
Oh, and DB: you mean Jerick, not Jechir.
Dragonsbane
05-17-2005, 02:21 PM
Did I type Jechir? Ah, my mistake. *edits*
What do you mean, "all white", Red Mage Black? No, there isn't a class system other than the different elements.

I'm back, y'all. So, SAAM, you don't need to worry about controlling some of those characters anymore.
Speaking of which...by Gollum/Smeagol, don't you mean a "bombshell conversation"? :p

I could.
Also, for everyone else, we are getting close to one of our famous battle siduations. However this will be something different: Two fields of battle will be presented, and we must choose which to go to; each will have separate consiquences! Dun dun dun!
Dragonsbane

You don't need to say "dun dun dun!", it's already implied!
and you'll all hear about that choice when the time comes.

And that's being voted on in the thread now. Hopefully we'll see what the consequences are sooner, rather than later. Choose well, folks! :p
Also, sorry if my posts have seemed... less than good, of late. I've been hanging out on Gaia too much, methinks. :p

Well, time for the vacation announcement in this thread...
Anyway, I'm gonna be gone from the 21st to the 31st, but have internet access, so I may be able to get a few posts in here and there, albeit quick and not well done.
SAAM, don't worry, you don't have another character to control. With the current speed, and the fact that i can at least check in, you don't really have to worry about Jerick for now.
Everyone have fun and stay healthy while I'm gone. I know a good part's coming up and I can only do a little because of the time I have left at my house, but what can I do about it? I'll try my best to keep up, anyway, so nobody worry about it.

Cool maps, SAAM.
I won't necessarily be on as much as I used to. My laptop is running slower than all get out (I believe a virus got in. Damn McAffe). I'm probably going to have to reformat it, but I need to find the CD first. D:
And as for my latest post, I couldn't remember the name of the camoflauge cloaks. Anyone else remember what they're called?
