Baldur's Gate 2 is one of the greatest RPG's of all time. Actually, I consider it the greatest RPG of all time. Even in it's aged state, it still kicks monstrous amounts of ass.
Did you just now stumble upon on it or what? If that's true, then where do you live? Lithuania?

well actually i stumbled on it about 2 years ago. I just started playing again since my internet addiction has been quelled slightly. Its probably the only rpg whos swordsman has a pet hamster. I always liked those kind of 2/3d graphics and ad&d style gaming.
I always go for a fighter/mage/thief half elf and teach him how to dual wield katanas and give him full pickpocketing lol. Thats a mouthful

I love BG2 muchly as well, though I'd have to call it second best. Planescape: Torment, IMO, has it beat. Not by much, though.
Hmm, I think I need to install BG2 on my laptop. I need my Minsc fix.

It is an awesome game, and the Throne of Bhall expansion rocks as well... I personally play a Paladin, using the Cavalier kit... I know most people go for multi class, but I just love my Pally. It worked out well as the Holy Avenger sword is one of the best weapons in the game, and with the Eye of Tyr enhancement buffing it up to +6, its even more awesomerer, and there's no really good Paladin characters you can use, so its good to have one as your protagonist.
I'm currently playing as a thief with the Assassin kit though, trying to do all the "evil" missions, as obviously as a Pally I did everything the nice way. I'm finding it hard to put together a good evil party though... Korgan and Sarevok up front are obvious choices, with Edwin nuking and Viconia on healing duty, but that seems to be it for good evil characters, and I can't even get Sarevok 'til I get to the expansion stage. Any suggestions for good Evil chars to complete my party, or at least neutrals that will tolerate me acting evil?

i managed to get my hands on the cheats list. Basically its called the CLUA Console. First you gotta mess around with a particular file ( check cheat sites for info) and then you activate the console. Lemme put it this way.
You can program the chars xp up to the max. You can create ANY item ( the quest items are v. hard, and so are the weapons). You can create ANY NPC ( Good for training if you are against xping. I had 100 zombies to kill). You can heal your party automatically, hit an auto kill on anything, change your character's looks ( i turned my character into a shadow thief lol) or create effects used in the cut scenes.
My party is made up of me blasting spells and using my unlimited scroll power (1000 time stop spells), then taking out my dual celestial furies (+3 katanas with fire and thunder) and slicing my path thru.
I use minsc for open combat, also using jaheira but with a combo of destructive priest spells. I use Tearlis ( im not sure how its spelt) offensive spin, send him in.
The other 2 chars are really depending on what im doing.

i played that game at my friends house last summer, and i kidna have a bad memory, but i remember that there was an inn near the exit of amn, and in the main room of the inn, there was a secret chamber(use the theif skill, detect traps, cause the door has a trap on it and it shows up) that has a lich in it. as soon as you enter, he casts stop time, then he casts protection rom evil, then he summons a big bad ass demon to rape your party while he casts spells at you. i was just getting to where i could exit amn when i discovered it, so i got beat down hard. anyone else find the lich?

The lich in there, like any lich, can be a bastard if you're not prepared. Protection from evil is a must, since as far as I know he'll always summon the demon. In the lich's room, there's a +2 sword called Daystar. Have someone grab it and equip it, as Daystar is designed to fight undead (It has an additional THAC0 bonus against undead.. +4 I think, plus bonus damage to undead). It's also got a neat ability to cast Sunray once per day. Greater Mailson on the lich + Sunray = you (usually) win.
edit: Afterthought - If you cast prot. from evil on your party, then cast remove magic on the lich, it should cause the demon to attack him.
Another afterthought - if you want some real chaos, get the lich and the demon to follow you up the stairs into the inn. Nothing like seeing someone cast meteor swarm on a roomfull of innocents :o

As far as I'm aware, he won't leave that room... I encountered him when I was too weak to fight him, so I had my thief run in, steal the Daystar sword, and run out, and he never came after me. Also, I think the trick where you make the demon turn on him does work, but Demon Summoning, even at the highest level, is pretty weak in BG2... when enemies summon them against me, I usually slay them pretty quickly then get back to business (although my Cavalier gets a bonus against demons, so that helps somewhat).

SOME SPOILERS
Did you guys ever do the Kangaxx quest? It produces an AWESOME ring (2 health regen per sec, some other cool sutff...) but you have to fight Kangaxx twice, and the second time all he does is cast Imprisonment OVER and OVER, and of course, there's not saving throw, and it essential removes one of your characters from the game, so it's pretty rough...I only managed to beat him by casting spell:immunity abjuration, since that appears to be the only way to avoid getting imprisoned, and then having my mage throw Melf's Minute Meteors at him. Of course, he regenerates, so its double rough...

Illuminatus: Probably the easiest way of dealing with Kangaxx in his demi-lich form is to have a protection from magic scroll (SI:Abjuration works just as well though, but I dunno which lasts longer) on one character with an excellent weapon (Carsomyr works very well. Crom Faeyr does too, if you're in chapter 6.) whale on him until he dies. The prot. from magic scroll might be necessary for this method, 'cause I can't remember whether or not spell immunity can be cast on anyone else. I doubt it though.

On my non cheat game, i used a similar technique. I stealthed my thief in, then used the sunlight spell. It set off his trigger, summoning the demon. I ran out quickly.
I then took the liberty of using the inn, and then reentering with stealth. Demon unsummoned, spells dissapeared, i reused the spell. It was deaded.
If you have a thief, always give him good pickpocketing. Its worth it. Good value for money.
I use a lot of unique kits. Assasins are good, especially when you gear them up with throwing knives, such as the asps nests (20 damage in 10 seconds). Give them a hand weapon as well, so that you can use the backstab bonus. I hit a 70 with an assasin.
Paladin kits are ok, but similar to fighters. Their special abilities aren't very good, but they can come in handy.
Monks are a mad choice, since they can't use weapons. Then you realise why they dont need to.
Sorcerors are good when you get their level high, great for fights. I always use chain lightning with them.
Bards are very good choice. Blades are my faviroute, since they have offensive and defensive spins.

Once you get to Throne of Bhaal, a 70 damage backstab with an assassin will seem small. My personal highest was a critical hit, something like 240 damage. :D

ive got throne of bhaal, but i prefer the original game with the added bonuses. The circlet of netheriel (extra mage spells 8th and 7th), and all the special abilities are handy.
Btw, the 70 was without the assasination ability. That thing is evil when it comes up with quintuple backstab damage.
Arm yourself with dual +3 katanas and put assasination on, drink a strength and dexterity potion, and then stealth towards the target. Muahahahahhaha

The 240 I got was without the assassination ability, too. I can't even remember what the ability does :P
Also, remember that assassins get up to septuple damage on backstabs. *drool*
Then there's also the sword that adds to your backstab multiplier.. Short Sword of Mask? Great offhand weapon for any thief.

ah yes, good old mask. I prefer longswords.
daystar is good, since you have access to the sun spell. The equaliser is alright, but not always good. Ras +2 is ok because of the summoning spell, but the best is probably celestial fury.
Imagine a +3 katana * drools *. Image loading it up with fire damage bonuses. Imagine it being able to stun. Imagine it being able to cast a lightning spell and a blinding spell once a day.
In the temple district is a guarded compound. If you can kill everything in there, you should find it dropped by one of them.

But of course, I'd never forget good ol' Celestial Fury ;)

lol, neither could I. certainly makes the equalizer look like a +1 dagger.

Ah...Celestial Fury...the last time I played through I played as the Kensai warrior kit (+to hit and damage, less armor) and built him arounbd using the Celestial Fury.
2 Katanas...Kensai...SO much damage...by far my favorite character

i downloaded the xp capper, so using CLUA i have created the ultimate character. Somebody so uber powerful, im afraid to let him out at weekends. Plus i gave him a thousand time stop scrolls, so i REALLY annoy enemies.
Hes A Fighter Mage Thief, The kind that are OTT and are designed to dual wield katanas and wear the best elf chain. I hear that you can make a dual class kensai/mage, if you give the kensai 17 intelligence. Sounds interesting methinks.

A Kensai/Mage is generally accepted elsewhere as one of the most powerful dual-class characters there is, though I've never tried one myself.
