Howdy y'all.

Shield of Lies is an RP GMed by myself and Dragonsbane, and has existed for quite a few months, however in recent weeks, several prominant RPers in the story left the Forum, or dropped out. Point is we're working with a Skeleton crew, and need some fresh blood!

It is an Elemental RP, which means your characters in addition to whatever weaponry they use, also have certain magical abilities to control the elements. You may have one element you have massive control of, or split your abilities between two others, provided you can explain how each are linked (eg: Fire and Magnetism for Blacksmithing, water and ice for living near the poles, etc etc.)

The Elemental Abilities include:

Fire
Ice
Water
Wind
Lightning
Magnetism
Earth
Shadow
Light
and Mind*.

*Cannot be used with another element.

You have free reign with what you can do with your element, we encourage you to be creative with your abilities. We only ask that you not Godmode, as per rules of the forum. If you see something overpowered, the GMs will handle it.

And without further adieu, the BackStory:

Shield of Lies takes place a long time ago, in a fantasy setting. 80 Years after a conflict called the Great Elemental War in which two groups of Elementalists fought for control over the world; a new threat has risen. The Orcs of the Northern Mountain under a monsterous leader named Antarrak began an invasion of their southern neighbours, including the human populated regions of The Southern Empire, the Kingdom of Delathor, the Dwarvish Mountains, Barbarian Deserts, and Avariel Kingdom.

Lord Gwaethir, King of the Avariel and Veteran of the Great Elemental War, enlisted a group of Element users to, with the help of the Southern Empire, stop the advance of the Orc Armies and infiltrate their lands in order to assassinate Antarrak. However, Lord Ashtar, the Fire Elementalist and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armies betrayed them with the assistance of Jaral, Hakar’s Shadow Elementalist brother, was manipulating Antarrak all along. He lead the Elementalists into a trap at Bastion, assassinated the King of the South, killed Gabriel’s father, implanted himself as Emperor, and sent Antarrak into an ambush off the shores of the continent of Rikklain. Now with no one to stop him, Ashtar is poised to take the undefended and crushed lands of the world for his own. The only hope are the weakened armies of Gwaethir, and those scant few elementalists that Remain after the Rikklainian conflict. The group finds itself in the Elven Remnant: the last refuge of the survivors of a great purge during the Great Elemental War. Jaral has stranded them there by destroying the Elven Fleet, and now they must find their way back so they can stop Ashtars advance.

Their ranks included the Lightning elementalist Gabriel: (Slightly AboveAverage Man) the half-elf son of two Veterans of the Great Elemental War and captain of Gwaethir's guard.

Mind Elementalist Hakar: (Dragonsbane) Half Drow/Barbarian son of two veterans of the G.E.W. one of whome was the leader of his tribe.

Earth Elementalist Alec Hailar: (super Saiyan) Human Nobleman who left the lavish lifestyle for the life of a Ranger.

Fire and Magnetic Elementalist Jerick Duran: (Lazy Man) Human son of a blacksmith who has taken up his fathers craft after his death in a freak volcano eruption.

Earth Elementalist Metrius: (Cloud Strife) Elven refugee from Rikklain, who had to flee his country when they began hunting down Elementals out of fear.

Lightning Elementalist Mat: (Secretskull [away]) A Human nomad in search of blood.

Water/Ice elementalist Osiris: (Ihatemakingnames [drop out]) A Posidian Privateer who was contracted to take the group across the seas and has a pirate past.

Light Elementalist Jechir DeArmo: (Cheshire Thief [away]) A human bandit from Delathor.

Light Elementalist Lain Noventia: (warmage [away]) A Half elf/celestial who’s parents were murdered.

And Earth Elementalist Sarin Treesinger: (solnac Reishlan [dissappeared]) An Elf of Tigris who wishes to avenge the slaughter of his people.

Wind elementalists Kiiri and Arthos (NPC’s) The avariel niece of Gwaethir; and an Elven survivor of Tigris who made his living as a bandit.

(those who have dissappeared, are away, or dropped out are controled by GMs. Those who’s characters have died were not mentioned for they will have no more effect on the plot.)

You may take on the role of a Rikklainian dedizen or Elven Remnant or even a stranded pirate, there isn’t much in the way of limits here now that we’ve progressed so far.

There is also Metal and Enchantment systems in the RP.

Enchantments can be found here (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showpost.php?p=262177&postcount=1)

What is the basic idea of Elves in this rp? Are they considered warriors or mages or a combination of the 2? Also, I doubt we will start with adament, but will have the next best thing like Mithril, or is that too much? If your curious, the person I am thinking of was trained in the ways of shadow and light.

History of the element - Originally thought that these where polar opposites, these elements were discovered to have unusual properties when combined. The elves then dedicated a family into discovering these powers. The family hasn't shown itself in ages, but now the youngest of them wants to show what they are capabloe of.

Hooray for the (slightly) new and (drastically) improved Jerick!

Name: Jerick Duran
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Element: Fire/Magnetism (Magnetism dominant... by a major shitload...)
Age: 27

Weapons/Equipment: Crimson Soul (I know, I just named it now, so sue me)- A bastard sword of Jerick's creation, made of mithril alloy with a diamond edge. The sword itself is infused with Jerick's own blood, giving it its crimson color, and marking it as his and his alone. It basically burns anyone that isn't Jerick.
Metal shards- Shards of titanium sharpened to a razor-fine edge, they seem useless, but with Jerick's magnetic powers, they're like bullets that can rip through a person with ease.
Chain mail- A personalized suit of chain mail, this rather normal looking suit of mithril alloy links flies apart when Jerick uses simple spells on it, and the outer edges are razor sharp. So he's basically wearing a suit of metal shards.
Forearm/shin guards- Simple guards on his forearms and shins that offer simple protection and have been slightly enchanted, these can also double as storage for metal shards by simply magnetizing them. (There, I think that's everything. If not, remind me, I'll edit it in.)

Appearance: Jerick is about 6' 2" with short red hair and blue eyes. He normally wears loose clothes that are tan and has a suit of iron chain mail convering his shirt. He seems like he has a normal build, but he's stronger than he looks.

Bio: Jerick was born as the son of a blacksmith who was a very potent user the magnetism element. His mother had died while giving birth to him, so he only really knew his father when he was growing. When he was only about one, Jerick and his father went to live near a dormant volcano where his father had found large amounts of useful metals that he could use to make a strong weapon. While the supply wasn't exactly huge, it was enough that he could make some quality weapons. Jerick grew up keeping the fires warm while his father dug out the veins of ore. Spending all his time around fire rubbed off on Jerick, making him get used to controlling it in the form of magic. This, combined with the magnetism magic he was learning from his father, made him a potent spellcaster, but he was still very inexperienced and was much better at fending off bandits with swords instead of magic.

When Jerick was about twenty, he had become a little better with his control of fire, but magnetism was his major preferance over anything and was a pretty decent fighter, having fended off bandits for a lot of his life. His father had also managed to find diamonds closer to the volcano, and the two of them began to forge a sword using the valuable material. A few days after the sword was finished, the volcano erupted after many years of being dormant. Jerick's father died trying to get away, but Jerick managed. This was when he started wandering around, looking for a place that could use his skills at making weapons.

Through his time as an Elementalist, Jerick has been hardened by fighting, surpassed his father in smithing, a feat he thought he could never do, and become possibly one of the greatest magneticists in the world. However, through all this, he has never become overconfidant or cruel and always seems to think quickly, applying inherent knowledge to almost everything he does. While still not much of a fighter, the fact that he can use magic so effectively makes him all the more deadly.

And since I can, I think the new guys should read up on their history. I present to thee...

The elves have a long and tragic history. For years they were a form of self-appointed guardians. They trained the greatest warriors and kept expansionary territories in check. They played a constant and pivotal role in saving the Dwarves from several Drow invasions. While not all elves, and in fact very few, were Elementalists, they respected greatly those who could control nature, and usually granted them high positions in society. They flourished mainly in the lands of Tigris, at the very south-western portion of the continent, and the Tigris forest was their capital, the throne-city of their king.

Thousands of years before, a shrine was erected called the Fingers of God. It contained several large ornimental pillars which each contained a spirit of an element, literally a living element. While most were harmlessly semi-sentient, two came to full self-awareness: Water and Air. The spirits were violently bitter about the level of disrespect nature recieved by the dedizens of the world, and wished to change this. The spirit of Air took over a Wind Elementalist Avariel named Gwaethir and used him to destroy the despotic royal family; taking control of the Avariel and turning him into an even more vicious tyrant than the last. The spirit had hoped to use him to conquer all peoples.

The spirit of water on the other hand wished to purge all sentient life from the earth. It took the body of a warrior and began a rampage through the world.

Eighty years ago, at the very beginning of the Great Elemental War Judas, daughter of the elven king, fell for a nomadic wind elementalist known as Jericho. Jericho came from a long line of nomads called the Wind Riders: wind elementalists that roamed the continent to keep the world in what they called "The great balance," in other words to keep both good and evil in check. Jericho discovered the Spirit of Water's destructive ways and vowed to destroy it. In a climactic battle that flattened an entire forest, Jericho was knocked unconsious after mortaly wounding the spirits warrior. Judas intervened before Jericho could be killed. She could not defeat the Spirit so she brokered a deal: Judas would offer her body in return for Jericho's life.

Thus the spirit took a new form and continued it's reign of destruction. After Jericho awoke, he tracked down several other Elementalists on a mission to destroy the other spirits, and thwarted the posessed Judas' and Gwaethir's plots. In response, the spirit (in full command of Judas' body) took with her the Lightning Elementalist Drow Tanthalas to Tigris Forest, and viciously slaughtered every man, woman and child; including Judas' own family.

In the wake of this horrible slaughter, the surviving elves from surrounding territories banded together in order to preserve their species. Under the leadership of a twisted madman named Psiriax, the Elves crossed the sea to the continent of Rikklain, where the government granted them lands in the north in order to preserve their species. Psiriax, one of the first Mind elementalist, used his powers to control the masses, and make himself a tyrant. He began great purges to kill or capture anyone with Elemental abilities; taking the survivors and forcing them to forge powerful weaponry for his own plans of domination. Psiriax was defeated eighty years later during this new conflict, beheaded by one of the surviving Elven Elementalists, with the aid of his own Daughter.

And that, my friend is the story of the Elves.

As for the Family thing. It's fine, with the exception of the "dedication" thing. The Elves frowned upon Shadow magic because it was favored by the Drow. A family may have tried experimenting with the two, however, but hid it in order to preserve their status in society.

Edit: Oh, and your weapons and equipment will range from the low end stuff to Mithril, Mithril alloy, Titanium, and Diamond.

DAMNIT. While i was typing this, my computer shutdown, so I had to start over.

Name: Dranu Veltro
Species: Half Elf/ Half Drow
Gender: Male
Element: Light / Shadow
Age: (Not sure.)
Weapons & Equipment: 2 weapons, a Mithril Alloy blade, dedicated to defense and an Obisidan blade, dedicated to offense. His armor is a combination of Mithrial outlined with Obsidian. All of this done to represent balance between the 2.
Enchantments: Mithril Blade has Longetivity, Recoil, and Balance. Obsidian Blade has Longetivity and Shockwave. Armor has Stasis.
Appearance: Dranu is scarred from battling so much. His skin is lighter than a drow, yet one could mistake him for it on first glance. Yet his hair is a faint yellow, though one could mistaken it for white. His eyes are a very crisp blue, defently a give away that he isn't full drow.
Bio: His mother was considered a very beautiful elf, even by elven standards. And was pursued by all. One day, she was travelling by caravan to another city when they were raided by Drow warriors. After a quick battle, Dranu's father saw his mother, and was enchanted by her bueaty. He killed everyone, including drow, just to have her as his wife. It wasn't until later when he learned that her bueaty came from her lineage, one of which is potent with light magic. At first Dranu's mother hated the man, but seeing him protect her from everything she soon began having thoughts of love.

In his early youth, Dranu remembered his father fighting all odds to protect him and his mother. His father shown him how to hold a sword, and soon Dranu started to practice with the weapon. His father also shown him the secret to his power, and probably the secret to Dranu's ability with the blade. If happened to be shadow magic, and it was very potent. Though his father realized the magic was taking root slowly due to his lineage, and promised to teach him when it started to show. Unfortunately, his father was killed by an Elementalist of Light. The elf was a warrior who heard a powerful Drow had kidnapped the most bueatiful elf in all the land, though what he didn't expect was a child. The man went to slay him, yet him mother begged to spare his life, in exchanged for her hand in marrage. The man reluctantly agreed, and soon started to attempt to teach his new son the element of light.

In a small Elven town, Dranu learned the magic of light, taught by his new stepfather. The only reason his stepfather taught him this though was for the ability to use it for illusions. He wanted to hide his stepson's true identity and it worked for a time. Dranu then started reaching new hieghts with power, due to the fact his father's shadow magic starting to manifest. When his stepfather learned of this, he was outraged, and went to slay him. As he swung, Dranu used an offensive spell of light, yet what came out was something far more powerful. His father was nearly torn apart due to the magic, and realized that slaying him would be impossible with that magic at Dranu's side. Instead he forced him out of the town, but his mother managed to get him a Mithril sword and Mithril armor before he left.

For a while, he practiced the magic he had at his disposile, learning its ways and how to adapt it. Though one day he got in a fight with someone hired by his stepfather to kill him. In the battle, he learned that he was in desperate need of sword training, and was alsmot killed. He managed to finally slay the attacker with a huge amount of magic, but it was not easy.

His journey for someone to train him under the sword took him to a drow city. Using light magic, Dranu disgused himself as a drow, but due to the fact the only drow he seen was his father, his appearance was pretty much his father. After spending a couple of days looking for someone to train under, he was approached by a man. The man thought Dranu was his father, and after some talk, he realized it was his son. Lucky for Dranu, this man trained Dranu's father in the blade and was willing to help train Dranu. After training for what seemed like the longest time, the man siad Dranu had learned all he needed to know. The man decided as a gift to give him an Obisdian blade and had his mithril armor reforged with Obsidian to represent his heritage. One from light and one from dark were his swords, and together they became one, much like is armor. With is newfound training at hand, Dranu decided to pay his stepfather one last visit.

After journeying to the village his stepfather had took him too, he learned of his mother's death. In fact, it was his stepfather that killed her. The man had for some reason, lashed out at her at one point and killed her, probably due to her helping him. He confronted his father, and at the end of the day was walking away from the house, letting it burn to the ground with his stepfather's mutilated body, somewhat still alive, burn with it. As he walked away, he took an oath never to hide his identity.

He has learned the threat of Orcs on both the Elf and Drow nations, and decided that they must be stopped. At first, he went to do this on his own, but learned he would need help. Learning of the Elven Navy being destroyed, Dranu decided that desperate times called for desperate measures and he proceded to confront the king. He hopes that after this war, maybe this elven nation would accept him for who he is and he wouldn't have to hide anymore. His journey had taken him many places, and now he stood in Rikklian, in search of a group of Elementalist he heard hired to stop the orcs. Surely a group of their caliber could use his help.

Inbred, I have a question. Is the combination of light and dark gonna be sound, like in Metroid Prime 2? I've been thinking about that ever since you posted what you were thinking of doing, and I've got the idea that your magic's gonna be a slightly less/more potent Annhilator Beam, depending on the spell.

hmmm. The whole light spell that nearly ripped him apart could work, in the same way that sunlight magnified can fry shit. Just remember that Shadow and Light magic is mainly a stealth/deception thing; such as intangibility, posession, (shadow) or illusions, blinding, etc (light) so something like firing a "blast of shadow" wouldn't be all that effective. Creativity will be accepted as long as you can explain it.

A few small things here and there. Elves aren't exactly prone to bloodlust and killings of their own ranks as you described with the murder of his mother. Not on the whole anyway; a rogue elf or someone not right in the head might do it, but she wouldn't be swarmed or anything. Elves didn't start that until Psiriax's rule. Also your armour and weaponry is good, but just make sure you specify that the sword is Mithril Alloy, otherwise that sword would be pretty damn limp.

Other than that, just say how he got to Rikklain and he should be good to go.

SAAM neglected to mention some of the other stories that took place during this time. The Elemental spirits inhabiting the Fingers of God eventually began trying to catch up with Air and Water's manipulations, as heroes and villians wielding various elements came into the spotlight.

Delmenon, a Barbarian warrior and shaman who wielding the powers of Earth and Fire, in reverence of the Barbarian's Forger deity, joined forces with several other elementalists...including Jericho...to defeat the forces threatening their world. Joined by Talos, a Shadow Elementalist of the Drow race determined to save his sister, the priestess Tamona...who was held captive by Gwaethir the Windlord, and his brother Tanthalas. She was rescued, and eventually fell in love with Delmenon, leading to an odd alliance between their two races. Their three children are adults at the present time. Hakar, a Seer (Barbarian term for Mind elementalist), and Jaral the Shadow Elementalist, a ninja-type assassin with a dark heart, have so far been the only two shown.

If you play as a Rikklainian, you should know their physical details. Human, with grey skin, typically dark hair, and yellow eyes.

Figured I should post Metrius here too, y'know?

Name: Metrius Elmfist
Race: Wood Elf
Age: 115
Hieght: 5'3"
Weight: 110 lbs.
Element: Earth
Weapons:
Evil's Bane: An Obsidian Mace-Flail (Think Ivy's Whipsword, with about 15 feet of reach at maximum). It does more damage against those with evil hearts, while doing less to those filled with goodness and purity. Evil's Bane has the Swift and Shockwave runes.
Throwing daggers: Twin Mithril Alloy throwing daggers with dragon-head hilts. They have the Return rune.
Armor:
Mithril chainmail: A full suit of chainmail made of mithril, with a green tint. It is a gift from his father for protection. The armor has the Shared Burden, Stealth, and Reinforce runes.
Items:
Earth Medallion: A decorated gold amulet on a chain with an enchanted emerald in the center that can store Earth energy within the emerald for use later (like if I needed some energy to make a spell, but there wasn't any around), or to give an extra burst of power in a spell, if energy has already been stored within it.
Regen Ring: Uses energy drawn from the earth to it automatically to heal wounds and such (when needed), but won't work if the wearer is not in contact with the earth (Examples include being on a ship or at the Avariel City).
Woodland Cloak: A cloak that camoflauges the wearer when the hood is up.

Background: As a young elf, he went through the ravages of the Elemental war. His village moved away from its original location to what they thought would be a safer place to live. They were wrong. The ravages of war reached even to the remote location that they had selected. Many lives were lost, including that of Metrius' own sister, and the village became no more than a traveling band of elves. Over the years, the group found its way into the heart of their cousins' territory. They were accepted as part of the village publicly, but they were never really given equal rights, and did most of the villages' menial work. Fed up with this lifestyle, Metrius heeded the call of his ancestors, and headed out on his own into the wild. Before he left, however, he let his father know of his plans. His father, Sirilus, tried to convince him to stay, that the situation would improve. When Sirilus realized he could not convince his son otherwise, he said, "Go with my blessings, and take my mace and my armor. They helped me when I was young, and hey will help you on your journey through life. Until next we meet, my son."

Metrius lived in the forest for 30 years, learning its ways, and improving on his elemental abilities. One day, he heard through the forest that the village he had lived in had been attacked and utterly destroyed by thousands of orcs. He went back and found his family, then gave them a proper burial.

Since then, he has joined up with the group and helped as he could through the journey. His skills have improved, but he seems to have developed a spirit of rage within him that randomly takes over his body during battles. He has been trying to find a way to rid himself of it.

It has also been revealed that Metrius is a Rikklainian elf, and was a fugitive of the Elves from the get go, as he was an Elementalist.

That would be Metrius for you, folks.

Ok I've done a little editing and it should match the rest of your details. Now onto ideas for spells. Obviously he has an amplified light spell for burning victims, and his first shadow/light spell is a super blinding move. The area around him in about 20 foot radius suddenly becomes darker and darker until it is pitch black. It stays like this for around 10 seconds after getting pitch black, then suddenly it brightens up to a magnitued of looking at the sun through a magnifying glass. The light only stays for a couple of seconds, but should pretty much blind anyone within the radius.

Next spell I need your approval. The spell is what I intended be what started to rip apart his father. The spell makes an orb of very thick shadows. The shadow is so thick it is pretty much a solid as it bounces of walls and can be knocked back of deflected. When the ball reaches a certain point, he activates it's inner light core. The core flashes with the same magnitued of his other spells, and causes the ball to expand extremely fast, and starts to create a vacuum in which everything seems to suck towards the center. As the shadows strech out, they loose thickness and become like gas, the disapate. They are still thick enough to keep pushing air out of the way for a while, but nothing more. The core basically becomes a smal sun cycle in an instant. The sun suddenly makes itself, goes through the stages, then ends it life with one final push and becomes basically a miny dark hole. The dark hole fills itself in about half a minute, and then disappears. If your curious, the sun's lifespan is speed up by infusing it with shadow.

So in other words, he creates a Shadow Supernova. Very intriguing.

It's so crazy it just might work! Just remember, certain elementals could reverse it, especially anyone adept in Light or Shadow.

Wootness. Also do I need to run the general spells by you (Like cloaking) or only complex stuff? And I forgot to ask about enchantments, do we get as many as the enchament guide says or what?

No, not general, obvious spells. Just anything that seems too unlikely, such as that supernova/black hole thing.

just contact either myself or DB via PM about it. Usually me, because DB has an annoying habit of not responding to PMs.

Edit: Right, the Enchantments. You get the same amount as in the list. You start out equal to the guys already in the RP, most of which can be explained by being in Rikklain, a technological marvel of a place.

Technically it's still going. Just REEEEEEAAALLLY slowly. The current chapter is Shield of Lies: the Technological Detour. Once we've established how many people are signing up, I'll probably make a new chapter for it.

Also, here's my character.

Name: Gabriel
Species: Half-elven
Gender: Male
Element: Lightning
Age: 65 (looks 26 due to elven blood)
Rank: Captain of the Royal Avariel Guard
Alignment: Lawful Good.

Weapons
Thanatos: Upon the marriage of Jericho and Judas, Delmenon constructed for them a gift: an immense Barbarian Zweihander Sword. The Barbarian created it to be an ultimate weapon; and had it enchanted so that only those who had a noble purpose could wield it.
The Sword itself is 5’ long and slightly triangular in shape, being 1’ wide at the base. It’s double sided blade is made of the sharpest Diamond, while the hilt and guard surrounding the sides of the blade are made of impenetrable Black Adamant.. Glowing Runes are inscribed upon the Sword, providing it with an enchantment of Lightning. It was the source of some emberassment for both it’s creator and it’s benefactor, when Jericho reached for the blade, but could not wield it. In good faith, he had Thanatos put on display in his residence within the Palace of the Avariel. That is until the day that his son, Gabriel grabbed the hilt of the mighty weapon. Not only could he lift the giant sword, but also he could wield it with all the skill and speed that one could use a Rapier or Katana; while delivering all the raw strength and power of a battle-axe.

New Diamond Zweihander, Knightmare.

Gauntlet mounted retractable Steel blade.

Rune 1: Swift (Zweihander)
Rune 2: Silent Edge (Zweihander)
Rune 3: Balance (Zweihander)
Rune 4: Shared Burdon (Upper Body Armour)
Rune 5: Stasis (Upper Body Armour)
Rune 6: Re-enforce (Upper Body Armour)

Appearance: 5’6, 250 lbs. While not the tallest of men, Gabriel is a highly built warrior, but maintained the fair complexion of the Elves until it was marred by a long burning scar and a white, blind eye. Unlike his father and mother, his long hair is a dirty blonde, with one piercing green eye. His traditional Platinum-Steel Alloy Armor of the Royal Avariel Guard has now been replaced by the bluish-black Titanium of Volcanus' design. The great sword Knightmare lays constantly within his grip, sheathed at his side, or slung across his back.

Bio: Gabriel is the son of the Great Elemental War Hero Jericho and his elven wife Judas, who too played an intricate part in the War. Gabriel seems to be the Polar opposite of his Father; rather than philosophical and calm, the young man is brash and daring, firmly entrenched within his beliefs on good and evil; while his firm confidence is usually mistaken for arrogance. He joined King Gwaethir’s honor guard at an early age, training in a great many different styles of swordplay and hand to hand combat, while also honing his skills in Electromancy. One day he was called into service of the King for the mission to destroy Antarrak. Upon seeing off his son, Jericho provided him with a gift: the Mighty Zwiehander, Thanatos.

But it was then that everything turned to hell. Jericho was sent on a diplomatic mission to the Southern Empire, where unbeknownst to the group, he was slaughtered by Lord Ashtar after discovering that the General was behind the capture of Lord Gwaethir's niece, Kiiri. Ashtar informed his "allies" that Jericho had been killed by a group of bandits on his way back from his mission. Gabriel was devestated by the loss of his father. After Ashtar lead the group to the trap at Bastion, Gabriel lost sight in his left eye, and recieved a large cautourizing burn to close the wound. When Ashtar's betrayal was revealed, the group moved on his citadel, only to be blamed for the murder of the King. The mission was not a total loss, for they discovered Ashtars plans to invade Rikklain, learned the truth of Jericho's demise, and recovered Kiiri from Ashtar and Jaral's clutches. Gabriel paid a heavy price for all of this. In a sucessful attempt to save the life of the young light elementalist Laine from Ashtar's blade; the half-elf was nearly burned to death as his father had.

Badly scarred and increasingly bitter and hostile; Gabriel remained with the group as they traveled across the seas to destroy the combined fleets of Ashtar and Antarrak, remaining the leader of their party, though with each battle Hakar seems to take on a larger burdon of command. While stranded on Rikklain with the others, the Elven Remnant under Psiriax held him accountable for his mothers actions in the Great Elemental War, and was sentenced, with most of the other elementalists, to death.

Gabriel was saved from his fate mostly through the work of Hakar's own mental abilities, and the aid of Polaris, Psiriax's daughter. Dispite her own fear and hatred of Gabriel, the magnetic elementalist Polaris assisted in her fathers downfall thanks mainly to Metrius, who realized in her the will to rebel against Psiriax's Tyranny.

Mysteriously, Gabriel's zweihander seems to be now unwieldable, as an old enchantment seemed to take effect; forcing Gabriel to take on a new weapon: the massive diamond blade, Knightmare.

Name: Aerion Saphery Brightfire, AKA the Black Prince

Species: Elf

Gender: Male

Element: Fire

Age:

Rank: Former Captain of the Black Fifty

Weapons & Equipment:

Mundane Weapons

Aerion carries many weapons, of varying composition. None of them are enchanted, but they are all of very high quality.

Greatsword (Obsidian)
Hatchet (Steel)
Multiple throwing daggers (Steel)
Composite longbow (N/A)
Flanged mace (Obsidian)
Lance (Obsidian)

Mundane Armor

Mithril Full Plate Armor, with the Runes of Shared Burden, Reinforcement and Stasis. His cloak is effectively leather armor, but protects from inconveniences like rain or snow.

One Thousand Broken Dreams

Known by some as the Wailing Doom, known to his people as the Suin Daellea, and known only to himself as One Thousand Broken Dreams, the greatsword that seems to rest uneasily in its scabbard is actually infused with the collated souls of the slain members of his clan, destroyed when the drow butchered his family when he was but a youth. One of the few survivors of the terrible assault, when he and his brother returned to the village to find their homes burned and their family slaughtered, he swore eternal vengeance on the drow who had slain his kin and all the others of that accursed race. For three days, Aenarion and Aerion gathered the corpses and weapons of the fallen to the House's forge. For three more days, they hammered the metal into a constant reminder of the lives which had been lost that day, the futures stolen in a single night of blood and pain and death - One Thousand Broken Dreams, a weapon born of hate and despair and regret and the unending desire for vengeance, the flames which forged it fueled by the bodies of those who had died that night.

The pair consecrated the weapon to the Kaela Mensha Khaine, the Bloody-Handed God of Murder and Destruction. Then Aenarion quenched the blade in his own blood by falling upon the weapon, and as he did, it took on a shine of blood and gold, shifting into a greatsword's body.

Aerion left the ruins of his town on the seventh day, One Thousand Broken Dreams on his back and a grim set on his young face.

The Wailing Doom's power is this - it can transform into any weapon Aerion needs at the moment - a lance to ride down a fleeing foe, an axe to hew his enemies in half, a brutal greathammer to crush the pitiful drow before him, a greatsword to artfully separate his opponent's head from his body... it can take all these forms and more, but what they all share in common is the blood and gold body and blade of the original, and the unstoppable, frightful wailing that constantly emanates from it as the Suin Daellea burns in wicked hellfire. The Wailing Doom screams joyfully when it drinks the blood of a drow, and sings mad battle hymns in strange, alien voices, accompanied by otherworldly music (in other words, the Wailing Doom has its own fight track, like Bodies by Drowning Pool, Operate, Annihilate by Powerman 5000, Harvester of Sorrow by Metallica, and so on)

One Thousand Broken Dreams is also a conduit and amplifier for Aerion's fire magic, and as a side effect, the souls bound into it reach out and tear apart magic spells in their way, ensuring no drow wizard can escape Aerion's wrath with protective magics, while simultaneously allowing him to parry their deadly attack spells.

Aerion tries to avoid using the Wailing Doom now, both because he does not wish to rely on its powers overmuch, and because he does not necessarily wish to surrender to its battle-lust.
Appearance:

A tall, austere Elf, clad in full plate mail and carrying his greatsword resting on an armored shoulder, Aerion looks completely unlike the lightly-armored bow-wielding stereotype most people may have in their minds. When travelling, he disdains ostentatious outfits, choosing instead to wear a suit of plain-looking armor lacquered a dull gray. The plate-and-chain backing are carefully shaped to fit his person and restrict his movements as little as possible, while funnelling the piercing attacks that could harm him around the vulnerable joints and seams in his defense. The eyepieces of his helm are made of imperishable glassteel, and the helmet segues seamlessly into his gorget, preventing assassins from garroting him.

Bio:

Aerion was once the young heir to his family's leadership, the Prince of House Saphery, a House renowned for their skill in magic. Unlike his brethren and sisters, he was talented in the ways of the sword as well, and he spent his days honing himself into a weapon of vengeance, a striking blade which would fight to protect his House's interests. But House Saphery had made many enemies in its staunch opposition of the drow, and one night, they exacted a terrible retribution.

The drow invaded the forest home of Saphery on the night of their annual Feast of Celebration, the vicious brutality of their assault catching all present completely off guard. The two who survived were Aerion and his wizard brother Aenarion, who had been delayed while returning to Saphery for the Feast. They returned to find a scene of unbridled carnage waiting for them.

What followed after that has already been detailed, but what Aerion did after setting out on his quest has not been told. He walked the world for nearly a hundred years, seeking out drow and butchering them in the way they did his family. Not a single drow he encountered escaped his wrath - not the weak, the ill, the infirm, the women and children - nobody. For his deeds, for the loss of his family, for his single-minded dedication to avenging their deaths, he was dubbed the Black Prince of Saphery by those elves who had seen him in battles.

Aerion's methods were brutal, yet highly effective. His youthful passion, amplified by his fire magics and the compelling story of his quest, all combined to inspire fierce loyalty in the band of like-minded warriors who followed him. For many battles, it was enough to see them through. Aerion's Black Fifty carved a crimson road through the bodies of the drow standing in their path. Three times, the drow sent forces to destroy them. Each time, the Black Fifty, led by Aerion, fought against unthinkable odds to slaughter their attackers. The only reason why the Black Fifty were not in greater demand was due to their lack of fame - most of the people who had borne witness to their horrific efficiency in battle were no longer living to tell the tale.

It came to an end on the third battle. The drow had sent a full regiment to destroy the Black Fifty, and this time, they had almost succeeded. Pinned down on all sides, spells flying fast and furious through the air, Aerion rose up, the spirit of fire upon him, the Wailing Doom in the shape of the Flaming Sword of Ruin. Body blazing in unquenchable flame, he barrelled into the drow ranks, his weapon reaping arcs of burning death with each swing. Confronted with such an awesome foe, the drow fled and ran, only to be fenced in by Aerion's fire magic and broken upon the anvil of his wrath.

But when the battle ended, he looked upon the bodies of his slain fellows and despaired. For he had realised that while it had been his magic and skill which had delivered him, it was the Suin Daellea which had prolonged his vendetta long beyond any sensible end. He realised now that the weapon he favored was a curse, but he could not bring himself to abandon it. Instead, he keeps it upon his mount, Balerion, and uses mundane weapons, relying on his experience and elemental powers to carry him through, rather than the bloodthirsty sword he calls Brother.

Free from the battle-lust engendered by One Thousand Broken Dreams, Aerion began to mellow down, tempering his youthful rage and passion with reasoned logic, discipline, and even compassion. Finding a purpose in life beyond the mere slaying of evil, he began wandering again, this time to defend the ones clsoe to him who needed defending, to prevent tragedies like those which befell him from ever happening him again... and, perhaps, to atone for the countless innocent lives he had sacrificed to walk his path of bloody vengeance.

The character looks good, Dante, but there are several points I see fault with.

1. The souls within his sword. Not that you can't have them or anything, but the only way to control a Soul is with an extremely rare item called a Soul Gem, one of which is used by Antarrak as a replacement eye. Such a gem would have to have been inserted into the blade for the souls to inhabit it.

2. The whole "Kaela Mensha Khaine, the Bloody-Handed God of Murder and Destruction" thing. Elves do not celebrate Murder and Destruction, and have no Gods of their own. Elves used to worship the elements themselves, until the Spirit of Water nearly wiped them out. Under Psiriax, they worshiped no one except for Psiriax, and rejected the Elements.

3. Appearance. Good so far, but lacking in hair colour/length, eye colour, Build and any distinguishing features. He seems to be "Generic elf in armour #1."

I respond just fine to PMs. I just make sure I don't say something I won't regret later.

Technically, the Elves did pay worship to a few powerful spirits in ancient times...but that will be gotten to later in the RP. At the current time, they worship the Elemental Spirits no longer, and Psiriax wasn't so much an object of worship as an unquestioned dictator. He's dead now, and he's not clouding their minds anymore.

Rikklain was once a simple, if rather curious place, a haven for alchemists, inventors, and more experimental Elementalists. They built strange and often useless technology, pushing their science further by building on their successes and learning from their failures. However, the Elemental War caught them unprepared, and several of their cities, including their capital city and major port were the subject of a "contest" between Gwaethir and Judas, in which they tested their techniques for destroying large areas at once. After the War, nothing was heard of them...until recently. Something happened to the Rikklainians, their skin and eye color changing, and they all possess Elemental powers.

Also, "One Thousand Broken Dreams" is the name of a specific, legendary weapon from Forgotten Realms. Nice try, Dante. :p

And Thanatos was the name of the massive axe that Death sopposedly used in Soul Calibur 2. What's your point?

I'd like to reserve a spot, and then create the sheet this afternoon after my mandatory exercises. I'm thinking a human water elementalist girl, a fresh faced soldier of the Avariel who's graduation ceremony as a knight was cut short by Ashtar's invasion or something close to it and she is now a refugee. Obsidian equipment if I can get it. Any complaints so far?

Death's scythe wasn't named. In Greek mythology, Thanatos was one of the sons of Hades who was concerned with the actual act of dying.

Just more trivia.

EDIT:

Name: Aerion Brightfire, The Black Prince

Species: Elf

Gender: Male

Element: Fire

Age: 243

Rank: Former Captain of the Black Fifty

Weapons & Equipment:

Weapons

Aerion carries many weapons, of varying composition. None of them are enchanted, but they are all of very high quality. His primary weapons are made of the rare mithril alloy called ithilmar, which is comparable to obsidian in terms of combative properties, but retains the silvery look of mithril.

Greathammer "Ascendant Justice" (Ithilmar - treat as Obsidian for game purposes - this is only for flavor)
Hatchet (Steel)
Multiple throwing daggers (Steel)
Composite longbow (N/A)
Bastard Sword (Ithilmar - treat as Obsidian for game purposes - this is only for flavor)
Lance (Ithilmar - treat as Obsidian for game purposes - this is only for flavor)

Aegis of the Black Dread

Part of Aerion's life was lived on the seas, aiding the elven Seaguard with his fire magicks. During the time he spent with them, he fought many foes, both human and inhuman. One of them was the terrible beast known to the sea elves as Balerion the Black Dread, a massive sea serpent that would rise from the murky depths and coil around hapless ships it found, dragging them to a watery doom. Arrows splintered on its hide, harpoons lodged uselessly in its scales, and magic fizzled and died when striking it. After a spate of vicious attacks by the wyrm, Aerion set out to rid the world of its reign of terror once and for all.

No captain would dare risk their ship on such a suicidal endeavour, so Aerion rode an elven cutter to the edge of Balerion's domain and cast off in a rowboat into the field of debris which marked the Black Dread's lair. The ebon monster reared up before him, then dashed Aerion's boat to splinters with a snake-swift strike of its vile head.

But Aerion was already up and away, a harpoon in hand as he balanced precariously on a floating piece of driftwood. Balerion roared and dove under the water's surface, and Aerion leaped aside just in time to avoid the breaching wyrm's bite, his fire magic decreasing his weight and improving his balance enough so that he lighted on the spars of a ruined sea hulk with the grace of a butterfly.

This cat and mouse game continued from sunrise to sunset, but while Aerion's magic had sustained him with the power of unquenchable flame, Balerion's strength was soon depleting. His leaps were no longer as high as they used to be, and Aerion took the opening when it presented itself. Leaping on the Black Dread's snout, he sank his harpoon into the fiend's single eye, then channelled the fires of the dying sun into it. Jets of flame shot from the wyrm's nostrils and ears and mouth as the internal inferno incinerated the contents of its skull. Then it keeled over, lifeless. Where fleets and ballista and archmages had been useless, Aerion had succeeded. Balerion the Black Dread had been slain by a lone elf.

The cutter's captain, who had been ordered to return at sunset, found Aerion sitting atop the body of the beast. They towed the massive carcass back to port, and Aerion was feted for days as the people rejoiced. As a token of gratitude, they took the choicest bits of scale and hide from Balerion's body and turned it into a suit of exquisitely crafted full plate armor. It retained the superb resilience of the Black Dread's scaly carapace, while the craftsmanship of the elves ensured that he could still move as freely in it as if he were only in a chain shirt, along with a shield of Balerion's scales to go with it.

(In game terms, the Aegis has the runes of Stasis, Shared Burden, and the durability-enhancing rune on it, as well as granting resistance to hostile magic)

Appearance:

A tall, austere Elf, clad in heavy black armor and carrying his greathammer resting on an armored shoulder, Aerion looks completely unlike the lightly-armored bow-wielding stereotype most people may have in their minds. When he removes his dragon-headed helm, his long black hair is usually tied behind his head in a functional ponytail.

Bio:

The elf who would become known as the Black Prince was originally born to a noble family of warriors. It went to follow that the games he played with his peers were invariably of a martial nature, and where human children may have been read bedtime stories, his parents and relatives would tell him tales of blood and thunder upon the battlefield, or read manuals of military tactics and strategy to him.

Aerion wanted to find his own path to glory, though. So at a young age, he left the house on a journey of self-improvement, serving for a time among the elven navy, where he earned the Aegis of the Black Dread. After completing his term of service there, he proceeded to wander the continent of Rikklain. During his journeys, he met many people - brave warriors, cunning rogues, wise wizards, and remembering the lessons of his youth and the tales he had been told, he resolved to gather the best of men unto himself, and earn fame and his fortune at the head of his own warband.

Over the course of two years, Aerion assembled the men who would become famous as the Black Fifty, the mercenary group which was present at many famous conflicts. Aerion inspired fierce loyalty in his men, and it was enough to carry them through many a battle. The Black Fifty specialized in hunting down big monsters, and while his methods were brutal, they were effective, and while some may have complained about his means, they could find no excuse to dismiss the ends they reached. After a glorious career as a mercenary captain, the Black Fifty disbanded, leaving Aerion free to decide his fate again.

Choosing to visit his home again, he returned to his family estate, only to find them besieged by a horde of ogres, orcs and goblins. Aerion burned them with fireballs, immolated them with gouts of flame, blew them away with incendiary shouts, destroyed them with mighty strokes from his greathammer, Ascendant Justice. But it was too late for his family - they had died to the last man in their defense, and as Aerion held his father in his arms, the latter declared that he was the prince of his family, for whatever good it might do him. And as Aerion's father breathed his last, the Black Prince was born.

Orc and ogre reinforcements came, hundreds of unwashed barbarians against a single elf. They surrounded him, and he tossed his cloak behind him. The raised their weapons and roared, and he tossed Ascendant Justice aside. As one they fell upon him, and he called the Glorious Sword of Heaven down upon himself, incinerating them all in a single burning moment. Then he manifested the Flaming Sword of Ruin, and he finished off all the survivors with his burning blade. Then he retrieved his greathammer, leaving his home in ashes behind him, and continued his journeys.

A list of his magic will be coming soon.

Biography: Cynetta hasn't been in direct service of the Southern Empire for very long. Her excellent marks had made her apprenticeship to the knighthood relatively short. Thinking herself more intelligent than most knights, she made her great escape when the assassination happened. Now she's pretty much a deserter, though it's probably assumed that she has been killed in action. Having looted her fair share of the treasury during the confusion, Cynetta has sought some seriously early retirement from the military, finding her dreams of becoming more than just a pretty face crushed. Now she finds herself in Rikklain, simply living out on the large sum of money she stolen from the empire she used to serve. She mostly spends it at the local tavern after outfitting herself in obsidian. In spite of having been a knight for only roughly a year, Cynetta is a capable fighter, skilled with the crossbow and not too shabby with a sword, and after all the drinking, she's strong in the stomach department as well. Cynetta doesn't like to think much and hasn't decided what to do with her life as of now.

Spell Data
Level 1 Spells
Downpour - Just causes the sky to spill down in innumerable water droplets. I'm sure somebody thinks it's cool and it may actually have a use.
Healing Tears - Blesses wounded allies with a few healing swallows of magical water.
Refreshing Spring - Uses the recovery properties of magical water to rid bodies cursed by venom.
Splash Shot - Just a powerful blast of water hurled at the target.
Splash Push - More of a defensive spell that forces enemies too close to her away with the force of water.

Level 2 Spells
Aquatic Breathing - Allows the target to breath underwater as long as the spell holds effect. The spell holds effect on the user indefinitely.
Aquatic Tunnel - Creates a column of water that spans gaps, allowing people to "swim through" to the other side. A bizarre magical bridge, but it does the job.
Liquid Field - Floods the area up to the torso to make locomotion more difficult.
Cleaning Shower - Cleanses the body, like a shower, but the water is enchanted so as not to require soap. A water based spell no woman concerned with appearances can do without.
Rolling Mist - Set for defensive, stealth, and trap measures, this fills an area around the caster with very thick mist, limiting visibility. However, torches and other light sources help to see in the mist.
Soaker Crash - A sphere of water is summoned from above and brought down, doing little damage. The spell is designed to soak the enemy with water, making them more susceptible to lightning and ice magic.
Water Barrier - This spell is designed to fend off fire and water spells. This offers no protection from any other spell, but can be frozen by ice to act as a sort of physical defense.
Water Walking - Allows the caster to, obviously, walk upon the surface of water deposits such as rivers, lakes, seas, etc.

Level 3 Spells
Aquatic Arsenal - A spell specifically mastered by Cynetta to enchant her crossbow bolts so that they flow through water like it was air, allowing her to fight effectively underwater.
Aquatic Assistance - Enchants the water around her to lessen the weight of equipment, allowing the target to swim through water more easily even when wearing armor.
Boiling Assault - Uses liquid from underground sources of magma heated water to damage enemies with searing hot water. Casting a powerful enough ice spell on it removes the heat element, greatly reducing the damage.
Healing Rains - A costly spell that creates a downpour of healing water.
Liquid Slicer - Focuses water into a powerful jet stream that can slice cleanly through flesh and punch through some armor.
Moisture Vampire - Sucks the water from living organisms, leaving them dehydrated in best cases, and a completely dried up husk in worst cases.
Pressure Blast - A beefed up version of Splash Push, designed to shove the enemy away from melee range.
Splash Burst - An explosion from beneath the designated area that knocks enemies upward with the force of water.
Water Wall - A very high an impossibly broad mass of water is literally pulled up from the ground and offers lots of protection from fire and water, as well as some protection most of the other elements. Water Wall requires a sieable source of water in the area to be used.

Level 4 Spells
Aquatic Camping - The caster can fall asleep under the tides and does not attract the dangerous sea life. Basically, Cynetta can literally "sleep with the fishes" and live to tell about it.
Aquatic Sustainment - Allows fish and other aquatic creatures to practically leave the abodes of water from where they normally live and move effortlessly through the air, sustained by magical water. Unfortunately, the caster has no control over the sea creatures influenced by the spell.
Flood Area - Fills an enclosed space with water, allowing
Flood Chamber - Floods the area around the enemies. There's damage involved, but suffocation is the main goal. Doesn't work on enemies that don't require air to survive.
Rainstorm - A more vicious form of the Downpour spell, nailing the battlefield with rough sheets of rain. Rainstorm does very little damage, but can douse torches and make firewood so moist that it can't be lit. It also soaks enemies and allies alike, making them more susceptible to lightning and ice.
Tidal Smash - A purely offensive water spell that bashes the enemy hard with a tidal wave.

Level 5 Spells
Deep Sea Sustainment - The user can walk the sea floor in safety even as tons of water press down on her from above.
Tsunami - A titanic wall of water stampedes across the battlefield, damaging everyone but the caster.
Water Control - Takes control of the water in the seas itself, allowing the elementalist to wield it to her desires. This can be used to capsize ships, calm seas even in severe storms, and use water to push ships along.

Actually, the lack of response on my part is due to Working last night, and a bout with Food poisoning today. Blegh.

Dante: I see no real problems in your character sheet. Welcome! We're gonna assume you've made your way to Rikklain.

AB: looks good so far... very specific.

1. It could be easily assumed that she was aboard one of the Southern Empires ships involved in the battle off the coast of Rikklain. (Remember, Southern Empire is the badguy here.) And is enraged that Ashtar would sacrifice such a large fleet for his own agenda, or something. Remember, we're not on the mainland now.

2. she could have been an Army Deserter who, discovered Ashtar's involvment in the murder of the king; and in a measure of retribution snuck into the treasury and took some funds of her own. Then she could have Stowed away on a Southern ship as a naval officer and found herself stranded on Rikklain.

3. Well, it seems there are three obvious options:
A. She is found stranded in the Rikklainian wilderness and makes her way to the Elven town in which the group is located.
B. She was captured by a nearby Elven town, and released when Osiris and Laine found you in the towns lock-up.
C. She made her way to a Rikklainian town, where our group will be heading next, and has been trying to find a place to stay, or a way back to the Southern Empire, or whatever.

The Biography looks good, except in how she got to Rikklain. The Rikklainian military isn't very welcoming to outsiders, and in most cases would stop any independant ship from entering port.

The spells look great, but don't feel limited to just those. Feel free to use more if you need to; such as some sort of moisture withdrawl, drying out an enemy into dust by removing all water in their bodies.

Portentous Comet Deflecting Mode (Lv. 5) - Successful hits scored on the Body of Fire immediately spark a large explosion, knocking away people and objects that hit him.
Blinding Spark Defense - Blocking Aerion's weapon causes huge quantities of sparks to fly into the enemy's eyes, blinding him.
Virtuous Negation Defense - Aerion takes a hit for someone near him.
Safety Among Enemies - Aerion dart's int o a throng of enemies and redirects enemy attacks to hit other enemies.
Burning Riposte - Aerion's sword arm is sped by the flickering of flame, and he immediately returns a strike at anyone who swings at him.

Flash-fire Technique - Allows Aerion to move with the speed of darting flame, making him react faster.
Dancing Ember Stride - Allows Aerion to run up walls and other obstacles, like consuming flame. THis decreases his weight dramatically and allows him to move faster using jets of fire for propulsion.
Bellows-Pumping Stride - Increases Aerion's foot speed.
Swift Legion Technique - Increases Aerion's foot speed, as wel las that of all his comrades.
Perfect Blazing Blow - Makes Aerion's attacks swing harder/better/faster/stronger, and thus more accurate.
Deadly Wildfire Legion - As Perfect Blazing Blow, but on all of Aerion's allies.
Threshing Floor Technique - Coordinates the movements of Aerion's allies and himself, so they can orchestrate and execute a deadly combo attack.
Transcendant Phoenix Pinions - Causes wings of fire to sprout fromA erion's back, allowing him to fly at high speeds.
Shroud of Roiling Darkness - Aerion causes much smoke to be created, which obscures vision.
Warmth - Allows him to keep himself and others warm in cold conditions.
Calling the Flame's Benificence - Multi-use magic, allows him to heat things up by hand, ignite small flames with a snap of the finger, radiate light from his burning hand, etc.

Spell list updated and expanded to include over a dozen more spells.

These spells includes powers that let Cynetta walk on water, swim through it freely, even sleep in water without being disturbed by the underwater wildlife. This opens a possibility that she might have actually abandoned the ship at some point and got to shore through her own manipulation of water. Would that work?

Name:Riyuske
Species: Avarial
Gender: Male
Element: Light
Age: 117
Rank: N/A
Weapons & Equipment:
Swords:
Sol (sun blade that contains the essence of light in its purest form, with a sun symbol on the hilt. Obsidian Katana. Hilt is pure white.)
Luna (Moon blade, light in its weakest form, a little bit weaker then the Sol blade but lighter in size for quicker slicing action, with the symbol of the moon on the hilt. Same form as Sol only with a purple hilt.)
Armor:
Sol Armor (Mythril armor containing the purest form of light, can be used to blind)
Vambraces (also mythril, to help contain the energy stored in his body)
Appearance: (See avatar for most of it) Purple spiked up hair, wearing a white trench with belt buckles instead of buttons with a slit in the back for his wings, as well as long pair of white pants, purple-ish colored eyes, tall in stature as well as thin.
Bio: A scout sent by Lord Gwaethir to find the missing group of Elementalists, on his way he managed to find a few enemies they may or may not have slain in the midst of battle. He considers his elemental energy his most powerful weapon. As a scout he has managed to see every species known to man (unless this is impossible). By serving under Lord Gwaethir he has learned much about his past and the past of his people, he holds this to the highest regard. With his highly protective and loyal nature, he prefers serving his Kingdom then to living the rest of his life a mere peasent. This gives off sort of an unnerving feeling to some, yet an irritable feeling to others.

I'm not even going to bother with a spell list. Though since th RP is still going on do you want us to wait for the new chapter or jump in when we see an opening?

RMB: by "Masamune, but not as tall", I assume you mean a normal katana. For the record, most games with a Masamune have had them as normal-sized katanas, FFVII excepted. Additionally, Lunar rays are not actually lunar in orgin, but technically just the result of reflected sunlight. You might want to consider that.

I'm also assuming the trenchcoat has slits in the back for his wings, or something similar. Avariel are basically winged elves, remember.

[edit] You don't need a spell list. You can have a list of commonly used spells, or PM me about spells that you aren't sure are legal, but you really don't have to list every spell in your entire arsenal.

AB, your character might have slipped into Rikklain while the closest squadron of subs was busy fighting off Antarrakk's ships, during a battle that happened not long ago in the RP.

AB: The Holy Water one is unneccessary. There ain't no undead in this RP.
Mermaid form is disallowed. There's nothing in water to change physical constitution or appearance; certainly not to that extent. Shape-shifting is highly exclusive. Same goes with Summoning; so no Water Elemental or Water Devil. You can, however, forge water into different shapes in a life-like form; such as Gug's Fire Goat; as well as influence Sea Creatures like the massive squid-like Decapi.

Dante: Same thing, so no Predator. Also, the flame sword (as it is made of fire) would have no defensive properties, so a parry by it would do nothing to save you. You could also use that to your advantage, like forcing the opponent to over-exhert themselves and lose balance when attacking.

also, "Unassailable Body of Fire Defense (Lv.4) - For a very short period of time, Aerion's body transmutes to pure fire and he becomes immune to all physical attacks, magical or not." We've talked about pure conversions to elements before. We're only allowing partial conversions at this point, so while you wouldn't turn completely into fire, you would be able to maintain fire-like properties.

The wings of the pheonix would only work if you establish some sort of means of propulsion, because flaming wings wouldn't be enough.

Finally, Virtuous Negation Defense - Aerion takes a hit for someone near him.
Safety Among Enemies - Aerion dart's int o a throng of enemies and redirects enemy attacks to hit other enemies.
If you want these, you have to establish how flame comes into play.

And just so you all know, you don't need this "level 4,5,6,etc" system. No one's counting, or keeping track.

RMB: Looks good, but incomplete. You should specify what your weapons and armour are made of. I'll PM you some possible ideas.

Edit: Feel free to jump in if you see an opening. If not, one will be created in the next few days.

I thought it a good idea to post the bios of the NPC's/On Leave Characters as well, so you know who we're talking about.

SECRETSKULL

Name: Mat
Species: human
Gender: male
Element: lightning
Age: 30
Weapon(s): Aurora: A glaive forged by a blacksmith befriended by Mat during his travels. Its blade was made to slice through almost anything with ease, and is made out of obsidian. the hilt is coated with metal so as not to break easily. Iron daggers are also hidden in various parts of clothing; Mat exels at removing them swiftly and throwing them.
Clothing: steel armor
Appearance: brown hair which sticks up, well taned skin, has several scars on body. his clothes and face look travel worn, seems to always be on the verge of entering battle.
Bio: growing up in a small village near the desert, Mat grew restless in his regular life. One day when Mat was 18 he decided to go out and see the world. With the little bit of money he had he purchased a glaive and a few daggers and began honing his skills with them while doing odd jobs to support himself. By the time he was 23 he had perfected his skills and set out on his travels; though in his opinion they were only slightly more exciting then his old life. One day he met a blacksmith by the name of Jon, he quickly befriended him and while he was staying with him, he studied a few magic books witch he had found in his travels. After a while he found he had some skill with lightning magic he began to practice with it, though it resulted in the destruction of his old glaive. When the blacksmith saw the destroyed glaive, he demanded to be told what happened. after Mat told him what had happened he decided that he would make Mat A glaive better suited to his needs (more resilient to electricity in other words) (for a price of course). since then Mat has found his travels to be far more interesting then before.
Extra: when possible mat imbues his weapon with electricity so as to cause a small shock when he strikes the enemy, witch some times may give him an offensive edge.

Name: Osiris (Was born Nereus)
Species: Posidian
Gender: Male
Element: Water/Ice
Age: 167
Weapon(s): Depending on the situation, he either carries a steel harpoon or a steel cutlass. Also may carry a short bow, several iron throwing knives, or several iron javalins.

(That's just what he carries and uses, he has Goblin explosives inside his ship, as well as some Goblin repeating bows, and other weapons for his crew)

Clothing: Long, tight leather boots. Leather armbands and vest.

Appearance: Osiris is an androgynously handsome sea elf. Standing at six feet, his silky skin is a shade of pink and a pale purple. He wears a dark purple bandana over his head to cover his short, navy blue hair. His eyes are a deep, ocean blue. His long, pointed ears have several earrings in them, along the side. Over his well-toned, thinned swimmers body he wears a leather vest and a thinner white sleeved vest underneath it. His baggy black pants are held on tightly by a belt and are tucked into his boots, so the baggyness isn't noticable.

Bio: Nereus was a normal Posidian for most of his early life. Was raised as a sailor, went along with other Posidians to attack pirate, and escorted other ships. But, Nereus was intrigued by pirates and their lawless life styles. One day, during the night, Nereus ditched his village. He joined a crew of pirates along with some humans in search of Piracy. But, being a Posidian, most of the crew hated him. The captain however realized how useful a Posidian could be, and would maroon anyone who tried to kill Nereus.

After several raids on trade ships, most of the crew left Nereus alone since even though they hated him, he was to useful to get rid of. With his magic, Osiris could easily stop stops from escaping, as well as being able to fight off more sailors then the rest of the crew. And, most importantly, Osiris was able to fight off other Posidians. He refused to kill Posidians though, and instead would force them to retreat.

Over the years, after the second captain Nereus had served under on the same ship died, Nereus became the new captain. His first act as captain was to steal a sloop (Fast ship, picture below). He took everything from his ship, put it on the sloop, then he and his crew took the sloop. The previous crew had been left on Nereus' old ship. During the next few decades Nereus and his crew had become ships biggest fears. Bulane, Nereus' ship, was the fastest ship in the seas. Along with Nereus' water magic, it became even faster. Osiris could stop trade ships with his magic, then quickly board them, steal what he wanted, then leave.

After a couple more decades, all of Nereus' crew had died. Since almost every pirate was human, they had short lives. Piracy had begun to bore Nereus by that time though, and he took no action into getting a new crew. He sold his ship, and with his riches lived in a well known pirate port city. He opened his own bar, just to keep things exciting. He also payed for the construction of a new sloop from one of the best ship builders, though since he was a well known pirate, he had to use a human vessal to make the payments and oversee it. Twenty years later the Great Elemental War happened. This severly weakened his magic, which was one of the major reasons for his sucess. Since most pirates were stupid, no one really realized the weakening of the elements at first. Nereus used his new ship, the Okeanide, and took to the seas again.

However, people still knew of Nereus the pirate, though he was presumed dead. Nereus changed his name to Osiris, and changed his look completey (As a pirate he wore your stereotypical pirate captain clothes). He hired a crew from a port town (Not the pirate one), and worked as a trade ship. While some people noticed the resemblence between Osiris and Nereus, no one could prove it. Still, usually Osiris can only get jobs from minor ports who need any ship, while larger ports suspect him of being Nereus. Mostly though, Osiris now attacks pirate ships, since he misses some of his pirate life, but doesn't want to reputation of being an evil pirate again. No one is going to care if he sinks a pirate ship.

Name: Jechir de'Armo
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Element: Light
Age: 26

Weapons and Equipment: "Flashblade" - Flashblade is a saber forged of steel. It has a mirror quality to it that allows him to reflect light and cause strange flashes. He keeps it sheathed most of the time in a black sheath on his left hip. Jechir also carries various throwing knives, daggers, and small bags of powder used to make blinding flashes of light. He wears a very light-weight steel chain shirt underneath his normal clothes. He keeps lots of pouches around his belt to store various small (or foldable) items.

Appearance: Jechir has somewhat rogue-ish, striking looks. He has shoulder length black hair that he usually has pulled back in a pony tail. He has dark eyes with a glint of yellow, and a dark goatee. He usually wears solid red, baggy clothing. When he walks, he has a sort of arrogant swagger, but his lithe frame is built for speed and strength. He usually wears black fingerless gloves, mostly as a fashion statement.

Bio: Jechir was orphaned at a very young age. He can't remember anything about his real parents at all, but he doesn't let that bug him. What he can remember is the old man. He never knew the old man's name, but the old man raised him in the woods, just outside of a town in the Rikklain Empire. The old man taught Jechir much about survival, and when he turned 15, the old man started teaching him ancient secrets. He told Jechir the nearly forgotten stories of old, the stories of the Spirits. When Jechir was ready, the old man began teaching him the ways of Light magic. Jechir was a natural. He learned very quickly what the old man had to teach. One day, while Jechir was hunting for the old man, bandits came and overwhelmed the old man, burning the house down when they found no valuables. Jechir came back, enraged by what he found. He searched around for clues as to who could have killed the old man, and he came upon a small trap door in the floor of the hut. He opened it, and found the most beautiful saber he had ever seen. He took it, knowing it was what the old man would want. He then buried the old man, and used the hunting bow to mark the grave site. Jechir travelled around until he came upon a troupe of bandits. These bandits took pity on him and trained him in the ways of theivery. One day, while they were setting up camp, one of them told a story of how they had killed this old man years ago, and he always felt bad about it. Jechir realized that they were the reason the old man who had been like a father to him was dead, so he killed every last one of them in their sleep and left them for the crows. Since then, Jechir's been living as a travelling bandit to survive.

SAAM...summoning does have a precedent. I'll explain.

For summoning creatures, an IMMENSE amount of power is required, because it forces a creature sensitive to your element to obey. Even the uberstrong characters of the previous RP, channeling directly the power of the Elemental Spirits, had trouble with it. Delmenon brought a mighty dragon into the final battle, for instance, but only because he called to it through their shared powers, and asked it to help. Influencing creatures connected to your element, and often calling or teleporting (second option = massively hard) them in to aid you in battle, is what is thought of as "summoning"

Calling a creature means that it is influenced, then comes on its own to aid you. For instance, it might swim over, or walk, or fly. Earth Elementalists have a slight advantage here, as most nonmagical, undomesticated creatures are most associated with the Earth element, specifically the nature aspect of it. For instance, you might see an Earth Elementalist who dwells in the deep wood, aided by a pack of wolves.

Perhaps I should have clarified...

Unassailable Body of Flame Defense temporarily turns the part of the body where the blade / hammer / arrow would have struck into fire, so it passes harmlessly through. It's not a full-body transmutation, so a 200 foot boulder dropped on him would probably kill him, assuming he didn't dash the hell out of the way first

Phoenix wings work by both lightening the body, and propelling him with jets of flame.

Perfect Blazing Blow lightens the blade of the weapon and speeds his swing by suffusing his striking arm and weapon with lightening Fire. Deadly Wildfire Legion does the same thing, but with everyone around him. Threshing Floor Technique basically lightens and speeds the movements of everyone affected using Fire magic, to the point where they can quickly dash in, attack, and dash out. This lets multiple people combine to attack one opponent , instead of having to wait for the ones before them to get out of the way.

Virtuous Negation Defense and Safety Among Enemies work by channelling the properties of fire to make him lighter and faster. In this case, the change lasts for a very short time, but is very pronounced, sort of like a 1 second nitro boost. So he could dash in fron of someone, take the hit with a Portentuous Comet Deflection, then leave the guy behind him free to counterattack with Threshing Floor Technique.

Name: Grik
Species: Orc
Element: Wind
Weapons & Equipment: Twin serrated swords (think Agni&Rudra from DMC3, both curved, one held outward and one held close to the arm), chestplate and helm
Appearance: Very tall and thin, his skin seems to just be painted onto his bones. His mouth is in eternal grotesque smirk/grin and his scuzzy beard has a sickish red tint.
Bio: Grik was a loyal soldier in the Orc Army, not caring who pulled the reins as long as the path led to more battle and death (be it his comrades or his foes). He was soon to rise in ranks and was given his own small squad whom he pushed into complete battle perfection.

Soon Grik was recognized for his excellence in stealth operations and was sent on covert missions. No one ever heard his team coming, and the normally pungent odor that kept all orcs company never wafted into his foes noses.

On his latest escapade he was sent into Rikklanian territory to steal/destroy any technology he could find. Unprepared for the advanced defenses, Grik's troupe was ambushed and killed, and he found himself in the clutches of his enemy. They tried to torture information out of him but found that he was unaffected by conventional methods. They quickly transceded the shoots in the fingernails bit and began to try out experimental ways, bombarding the orc with currents of painful magic and other unsavory rays. At the end they had found out nothing as their captive had remained ever-tightlipped even through the obviously immense pain.

Disgruntled, the Rikklanians locked him up to allow for further deliberations. While they talked, Grik found that he could manipulate the wind and air to his beck and call, a byproduct of the magical devices unlocking his once nigh-dormant wind tendencies. Practicing in secret, Grik soon devised a way to escape, slicing through his bars with hardened wind and running...until he was again captured.

The Rikklainians now realized that merely caging him would do no good so they decided to make him subservient. Utilizing the torture technology they had developed over Grik's incarceration, a small device was implanted into his neck that could easily be activated to release a body collapsing wave of pain through the orc elementalist. Grik was made to understand that unless he complied, he would feel pain. Although not completely rescinding, Grik did agree and promised not to kill his captors, as long as they held the devices controller.

Although he still hates his current situation and wishes to be back with his mates in the Orc Army, he has trained with the Rikklanians in magic and is quite a formidable fighter.

Now word comes that a small band of warriors needs help in dealing with unfamiliar terrain and could use inside information on the Orcs weapons and dealings. Although he does not want to help, a second activator for his torture device has been sent to these new people.

All right, hopefully, everything has been put right. God, joining an RP deep in its story is even more difficult to thinking up good jokes for a sprite comic.

The summoning and transformation spells are gone, but I don't think water elemental power allows control over aquatic creatures. That sounds more like a Mind elemental thing to me.

As for Cynetta: what exactly does she need to know regarding the story? For most intents and purposes, she simply wanted to get out of the empire once the assassination spread out. If I had my way, then she'd be pretty much ignorant of the situation and wouldn't even know who carried out the coup. It's easier than reading 14.something-or-other threads full of story, and believe me, I tried that. It's exhausting.

Dragonsbane

Rikklainians wouldn't need to torture your character, Prismatic. Remember, they're primarily Mind Elementalists, and the Rikklain area itself is going to be exceptionally difficult (At this point, we're just going to a port town) in terms of powerful Elementalist enemies. They could just read your mind for any information they wanted. Also, Rikklain pursues its own goals, they aren't our allies. In fact, they tend to kill any intruders, not send them help. Also, Rikklain is on an entirely different continent from the Orc territory.

Dante...a few things. Using magic still requires energy, and thought. Sacrificing time casting a spell to give yourself a short combat buff like that isn't a good idea. Unassailable Body of Flame Defense would only work if he saw the attack coming, and had enough time to cast a spell. As for the rest (except Phoenix Wings)...other than mentioning fire magic, they have nothing to do with fire at all, just making things lighter and faster. If that's all you wanted to do, there are elements that are much better suited for it.

AB, there are areas in which powers do overlap, and while a Mind Elementalist (I call them Mentalists...but that's just me) could probably mind-control an aquatic creature into doing its bidding, your character wields the elemental magic of Water. If you encounter a creature with a magical connection to water, such as a water spirit or elemental, it is more likely to listen to you than anyone else in the group. As for your question, your character was a soldier, so chances are that she was just following orders. So, you know pretty much all you need to know.

SAAM, do you remember where we listed the upgrades for the new equipment after beating Psiriax? I can't seem to remember just what upgrades/gear Hakar got. If you can PM me the information, or just a link, or just list it here, that would be superb.

Yes, the orcs are bloodthirsty warmongers. It would be really, really bizarre if they weren't. You might have to edit more than just race, though, since the Rikklainians don't care that much about our little group (and if they did, I wouldn't tell you until it became important and obvious) and would probably just try to kill them if they ran into them.

So what would you reccomend race-wise for the coveted position of controlling the leash? It doesn't have to be a techno-race, that just came to mind because I'm basing Grik slightly off of Spike from Buffy. Would the Elves be able to magically do what I described? Any help would be appreciated.

Summon up Water creatures first, then mind-control them. Combining Water and Mind (to me) would be like smacking someone in the face with a burst of sea-spray that paralyzed their higher mind.

And DB, I thought elementalist magic was instinctive and very fast, like Exalted Charms. Since this is not the case...

Actually, most of those could be explained by using fire magic to "heat up" or energize the energy of every cell within the body, like a combustion engine, in order to vastly speed up one's metabolic rate and reflexes. Lightning could do the same.

Also, DB, your character sheet thing should be in the Discussion thread, labled "The SoL Corner Store." or whatever. Probably in the middle section.

Also, Elementalists can't control, but they can influence creatures related to their elements, like sea creatures to Water Elementals, birds and bugs to Wind elementals, Plants to Earth elementals, etc.

Ya know, just replace 'Rikklanians' with 'Dwarves' and we'll say that Grik has an actual collar with magical runes on it. And replace 'activator' with 'can't attack any humans, elves, dwarves, and anything the collar's controller specifies'. Its just an automatic burst of pain if he attacks anyone but the enemies. Does that work?

Not entirely, because you said pain doesn't stop him. After all, he could handle intense torture, right?

SAAM, this is why I refer to you as "FAR above average", that combustion engine idea was something I hadn't even begun to think of...

Dante, if you take a second or two to call on your magic, that's all you'd need. Of course, some would take more, some less. A plain old blast of fire would be instinctive, an almost immediate reaction. Now, a carefully directed attempt to manipulate an entire volcanic eruption (assuming you have enough power to do so) would take concentration and possibly time.

I said he didn't reveal secrets. He felt the torture, he just didn't squeal. Think Sawyer from Lost not Juggernaut.

That, however, requires immense mental fortitude. Enough to attack despite the pain.

Inbred, I'm not sure about your character. Shadow and Light are opposed concepts, much like Earth and Air.

I've been chatting with SAAM about spell possibilities and such, so he seems fine with it.

...So the new collar is enchanted to paralyze him if he attacks a teammate. Or it's made to put stronger and stronger painwaves each consecutive time. Or something else.

Is there anything else wrong with him, besides the one trivial point?

Dragonsbane
05-07-2005, 07:39 PM
Hardly trivial. Consider this, Gabriel is both physically and mentally scarred, to the point where he didn't even trust an Avariel guard he knew. Think what were to happen if an Orc joined the team, especially one who isn't under absolute control. He'd attack, and Grik would either die because his controls ARE good enough, or he would be able to fight through the pain and prove that he CAN attack teammates. Either way, you lose.

So Gabriel is automatically going to attack Grik because he is an Orc?

05-07-2005, 08:00 PM
Not necessarily, but the chances are high that he would attack. The only reason he didn't attack Gug (former character, now deceased, who was a goblin) was because he knew him from the beginning and knew he wasn't evil. It would take a lot of convincing and holding back, but Gabriel could probably accept Grik grudginly.

I think I better list the weirder spells I have so that you guys don't question them when they appear. Note that these spells have already been approved by SAAM

The Shadow Rift: This is basically another way of moving around in the world. It can be opened by shadow magic and navigated by light. This can transport Dranu around a kilometer or about 10 people 100 meters. It can also be used to seperate an enemy from his comrades and force him to duke it out with Dranu in total darkness, and can also be used to make enemies take faceplants in floors and such by making a portal appear under someone and dropping them in a target location.

Intense Blade: This involves focusing sunlight to heat up a blade to make it deal more damage and cut through certain materials easier.

Glaring Sun: Makes a target area become extremely hot. Then makes all shadows within that area disappear, so there is no hiding from it. Will only fatigue.

Reveal: Allows Dranu to see pretty much anything within a certain distance by bending light off of it to him. Also can give Binocular vision.

Ok one or two of those might not have been nessicary to list, but you get the idea.

...SAAM needs to start telling me about anything he approves. I have serious questions about the validity of that combo. As opposing concepts, Light and Shadow cannot exist in the same being. Multi-element characters are only for cases that they make sense in...and this is, as far as I see, not one of them.

So Gabriel is automatically going to attack Grik because he is an Orc?

I wouldn't put it past him. He has a new sword that hasn't been baptized in Orcish blood yet. Especially since the only thing controlling Grik is the collar. However, Hakar could just use his mental magic to calm him down.

Meh, Grik could just set up a temporary windshield (he he...) to keep him at bay I guess.

Then again, I believe he is the first half elf half drow in this rp. (Not entirely sure.) His Elven blood carries light and his Drowish blood carries shadow. His is a unique being with what I see unique spells. Maybe SAAM can put it better, I notice he tends to do that.

No. Gabriel is not half drow, half elf.
He's just plain half human/half elf.

Yes there is a good chance he'd kill your character, Prismatic; but there's an even bigger problem: why the hell would your character join this group? He's an Orc who was tortured, and is most likely very annoyed, who was on a mission to destroy shit, but now wants to join the orcs again. You've basically made a mortal enemy of our group, who wants to join them as "a guide."

and besides, Rikklainians would probably kill your character outright, as they are at war with the Orcs. They would not let one live amongst them, or even set foot on their soil. They would not torture him for no reason, unless he was a high profile orc; they'd just kill him.

DB and I are in agreement.

Your character is REJECTED.

Sorry, please try again.

Well, if it got summarily rejected...

Name: Aurellios
Species: Elf
Element: Wind
Weapons & Equipment: Two twin curved swords, Agni & Rudra style. Chestplate and specialized helm.
Appearance: Adrongynous facial features on top of a decieving frame. Aurellios is very self concious about his looks and usually carries a small mirror to check his face.
Bio: Discovered his wind powers at an early age and was trained until it was realized he was a sort of wind-savant. Soon put in control of a Wind-centric squad where his commanding abilities showed through. The short time he spent in control of a squad made him sort of power hungry which led him to becoming a suck up to his superiors. Eventually he learned of a small group of Elementalists attempting to bring down the biggest evils in the land. He knew that helping the group would skyrocket him to the upper echelons of Elvish military and agreed to help. He unfortunately wasn't informed that he was going to be part of the group, not the leader.

That any better?

You should probably mention what you’re wearing and what metal your weapons are made of (See the discussion thread). Other than that your character looks fine, but that’s just my opinion, wait for DB and SAAM's permission.

Actually, you can not post here period. If you managed to get yourself banned within the first week or two of posting, we don't want you. it's made ever worse since you completely ignored the ban and continued along as if nothing happened. Consider yourself reported.

SAAM is absolutely correct...though I wish he'd let me post our decisions myself, for once. Assuming I remember. On second thought, he has good reason to post first.
