Neato! Like I say, I'm somewhat acquainted with the guy because we frequent the same Red Dwarf website, and he also writes a webcomic that's pretty good (Jump Leads), so I figured he could bring something interesting to vidjagame journalism, too.

Sorry I didn't respond! I have a bad habit of putting of responding, but when I remember I feel to awkward because of how late it is. I appreciate the link. I'd seen it mentioned before by some game journalists on Twitter, too.

I plan on checking out Classic Who once I'm finished with Season 4, assuming I don't take a short break from Who for a while. Really, really looking forward to season 5 of New Who, though.

Original-recipe Master, particularly as portrayed by Roger Delgado, is (a) a completely different character in several important ways from New Who's Dancing Master, and (b) so fucking awesome. If you don't mind the slower pace and oldschool special effects of classic Who, go check out some of his stories, like "The Sea Devils" and "The Daemons". He might well be one of my favoritest villains ever.

Ten is a bit spastic and... odd, but I've grown to like him. Only complaint is a few too many pop culture references, but they aren't a constant. Martha's pretty great because she's actually competent and really useful. There's a two part episode that is almost more about her than the doctor, and that was cool. Season four is very ugh, which is a shame because after a couple episodes Donna Noble became my favorite companion so far. Still season four has a two part Moffat episode, and it is brilliant.

I'm also a pretty big fan of the New Who version of the Master, though I haven't seen the original version of him. The three parter he was in ended lame, but he was batshit insane in a really fun way.

EDIT: Man, no matter how many times I hear "EXTERMINATE!" it never ceases to be really damn creepy. Daleks are my favorite Who villains, even if the episodes they're in aren't always my favorite episodes.

Y'know, I've actually considered checking out the rest of New Who that isn't Rose-infested. If Martha's even a tiny bit less irritating than Rose and Ten, I expect it'd be worth watching.

I also hope to dip my toe into Moff-Who, but after RTD it'd better be awesome. Like, nachos-and-sex awesome.

So, I think you'd like season three of New Doctor Who. It's pretty great and there's no Rose. Plot to the Evolution of the Daleks episode got a little wonky, but other than that it was nice. I'd also recommend checking out the Moffat episodes from seasons two and four. Far better than the rest of the seasons they're in.
