You'll have to scour eBay or maybe buy a copy of Advent Children: Complete. What I'm finding says they were released side by side, which might mean separately, but might also mean they might have been packaged together.

Also, Gilligan makes me love Red XIII even more, and I really need to read that short story sometime. (I could care less about those other short stories, though.)

...It's strange how that scene you've just described singlehandedly elevated Vincent Valentine from "my least favorite FFVII character" to "one of my favorite FFVII characters," just because of how it fleshes out the relationship between Red XIII and Vincent.
...I think that says more about how much I love Red XIII than anything, because the sheer fact that Vincent shows concern for Nanaki is enough to elevate him to the top in my book.

Thing is Red has good reason to be a bit emo, himself. I'm sure they'd give him his share of angst. On the other hand, given that he keeps on appearing in literally every Compilation FF7 title in one form or another, they clearly have a story to tell and I for one would love to hear it.

Last they left off with him was in a book of some sort where he was talking to Vincent about how he didn't know if he'd be able to watch everyone he knew die due to his enormous lifespan. Vincent revealed to him that he had it worse and was, in fact, immortal, and the two made an agreement that Red would visit Vincent in Kalm once a year to relate the past year until Red finally passed on.

C'mon. You're diggin' it. It'd absolutely redeem the atrocity that was Advent Children.
Also, Red XIII must mock Vincent and Cloud for being emo sissies each and every time the latter two appear in the game.
