The problem isn't really the rule, it's just that with every grammar or spelling rule in the English language, there always seems to be at least one exception, if not a dozen of them.

Yes it is, as the I and the E are coming after an F, a C just happens to be in the word. At this point it doesn't really matter anyway though.
