Obviously an illiterate Finn was in charge of the translation. Mystery solved.

Aparently the only english translation that exists for the book is crappy. Like really crappy. And not in the sense the person who did it doesn't know english. Rather he doesn't know finnish too well; meanings changed, style change, even whole scenes added and/or deleted!
