Name: Ta
Side: Dark (well that's what people like to think)
Race: Half-(shadow)Demon from origin
Age: 53, 2 months, 3 weeks and 6 days
Appearance: Shoulder length dark hair, 5'6, but effectively much larger in stature due to different sizes and shapes of impeccably smooth, reflectively black armor, which covers her completely from toe to neck. Wears an almost cliche of a demonic helmet on and off.
Weapons: Pretty unusually large claymore, manifested armor of similar strength to steel, but with obvious magical properties.
Special Skill:
Shadow Manifestation: Despite being a half-demon, Ta's mastery of conjuring up incredibly light, and obnoxiously strong material from nowhere but simple shade is near flawless. Both with her trademark armor and other various abilities, such as blade extension, blazing fast, shapeshifting metal, and even creating simple trinkets of necessity or fancy.
Shadow Manipulation: Along with making real things out of shadow, Ta also has a the ability to make things that aren't real. Illusory control to the extreme as long as there's shadow's around to change. As far as the eye is concerned, Ta could be the master of the universe, as long as adequate shade is provided -- which she is very resourceful about making.
Narcolepsy: Though not a power, it is worth to note that through her own mistakes, Ta has been cursed to narcolepsy by a mischievous and powerful demon. Worse still, the narcolepsy seems to trigger a change of worldly perspective everytime she wakes up, making her volatile to have as an ally, despite her unusually gifted ability of the demon arts that dwarfs all other half-breeds, and even most full blooded demons in their respective skill. This power also tends to assure her lack of assassination while falling into narcoleptic slumber.
History: Ta was the spawn of an unfortunate incident between a Shadow demon leader and his insatiable taste for human women. She was raised in relative obscurity with her mother, mostly unaware of her heritage, until the warlord found himself in a territory dispute with other demon-kind. Wanting to bolster his forces, the demon went on a personal draft of the regions he spent so much time plundering, as he knew very well of the many illegitimate children he had fostered over the years
Of course, he happened upon Ta and her mother in their tiny village, taking Ta away from her mother at a terribly young age, before slaying her and the small village so that there'd be nothing to return to. Though embittered over the loss of her mother, Ta wasn't a stupid 12 year old, and knew there was nothing to gain from sacrificing herself in rage over the death of her mother.
Trained directly by her father along with many other long separated siblings, Ta honed her skills and picked up a talent for combat and the demon arts. She wished revenge on her father, as did most of her siblings, but the limitations of being a half-demon made purely into a foot soldier left her too weak. Several years of territory clashes left most of her siblings dead or indoctrinated -- completely incapable of punishing the old shadow warlord.
The combination of malevolence and talent was not just seen by her father, though. She was visited by an ancient demon, one who claimed to be from the era of Talkatz. Though he seemed the part, old, with a very odd and formal way of speaking, and scarred terribly from longs years, Ta was skeptical, as any demon that old would probably have better things to do than visit a weak half demon such as herself. Much to her surprise, he seemed to know every little desire she had -- thirst for power, vengeance over her father, and destruction of the entire shadow demon legion, and to do it with their own power. Ta was hanging on his words, but didn't know why or how he could grant this.
The old demon made his intent clear -- the reason he had lived so long despite his age and battle scars was due to a speciality of human kind -- their connection with Kami, the special inner ability that humans and, likewise half-demons hold. His life was now vampiric as the result of a ritual he performed long ago that allowed him to extract this essence and continue his life that should've, despite fatal injuries. He cared not for his vast demon powers, as he only feared death, and all the power in the world wouldn't help him escape the reaper. Ta became more skeptical, wondering why he'd seek her out as opposed to just taking it forcefully from humans -- a question no doubt brought from experience, but he explained why. The connection humans and half demons have with Kami is powerful, and cannot be forcefully taken away with ease. He found it much easier to create contracts with those who did not want or need this power, and the reason he sought her out specifically was her strength and situation -- the stronger the person, the stronger their will and influence over Kami, and half demons have strength and more motivation to give up their human granted powers.
Ta was torn. For one, the whole story seemed a bit ridiculous in scope. Secondly, she knew the hazard of making deals with devils, especially ones that emanated power as fiercely as he. Thirdly, even if she made the deal, would it be enough to take her revenge, or would she just be giving something up for vain hope? The wizened old demon chuckled at her problems, assuring her that he could end her father's life a thousand fold. But he knew that wasn't what she wanted and, frankly, he could care less about petty demon warlords. All he wanted was something she wasn't using, and in turn he would enhance her demonic abilities to an extent he deemed fit to carry on her goals.
Ta, desperate and vengeful, accepted his offer. The demon performed a ritual that was completely foreign to her, and she collapsed in agony as the demon tore the essence from her. The old monster chortled, happy to extend his life and invincibility a few years longer, and replaced the lost human energy with raw demonic power. Ta's already honed shadow abilities became enriched a hundred fold. The demon left her without so much as a parting word, completely uninterested in what she used her new powers for. The moment Ta awoke, she began her life's goal of tearing apart her Father's empire. Her exploits became famous -- one young half demon tearing apart an entire shadow demon dynasty(with a bit of help from their enemies, to be fair) did not go unnoticed by both demons and humans across the country. Months passed before she had done away with the remains of what she now considered her father's pathetic regency. She had finally chased him down and slew him, realizing that despite his reputation and fear, he was weaker to her than her mother was to him. She was disgusted by his weakness, but content that her life's goal was complete.
But Ta's burden did not end there. The demon's ritual had cursed him long ago with dependence on mortals for the power of immortality, and Ta's curse was similarly fitting, dooming her with tiredness and indecisiveness. Contrary to all her years of focus and intent for revenge, she was now damned to pass out erratically and awaken with different a different goal in life everytime. She had lived her life with one mission in mind, and is now lucky to live a week with any such thing. Because of this, her reputation has made her an unusual friend and enemy to all. Forces are happy to take her in for her power, but fear when, or even if she might pass out and awaken to turn on them.
Despite being both a famous demon hunter, and dually a notorious demon, Ta finds herself siding with Team Dark after her last dream brought her to want Talkatz reborn, due to gossip of the ancient demon when she awoke from an unscheduled nap in a demon's bar. It's only a matter of time before that changes, though, and everyone on team dark is aware.
Extra: So yeah, her deal is she's unusually powerful for even a demon, much less a half-demon (destroying dynasties is a hobby!), but is unreliable as both an ally and a fighter. The only reason she hasn't died yet is that, despite being cursed with narcolepsy, she sleeps very lightly and covered in armor. Most attempts on her life fall short there and wake her up. Ya don't won't to wake her up, or abandon her when she's asleep, as she's most susceptible to alignment change as soon as she wakes up, and if she wakes up mad at you, then you're in trouble. Her memory is fine, but she can't control her worldly view whenever she wakes up from a nap. Ridiculous curses are the best kind of curses.
