Default Dragonlance Mafia Sign Ups

The Rules (Simplified, full version here)
1) There will be 25 players in this game. The Game Organizer will assign each player’s role at random, and will PM the roles to the players.

2) Of the 25, there will be 5 Blessed of Chemosh. One of the BoC is the Mina: High Priestess, and will report to the GO. The BoC can communicate with each other through outside methods (PM, Instant Messenger, Email, etc.).

3) Of the 25, there will be one Gerard uth Mondar: Sherrif. The sherrif cannot use outside methods of communication, except when talking to the GO.

4) Of the 25, there will be one lieutennant. The lieutennant can talk to the sherrif outside of the thread through PM's and Instant Messenger.

5) Of the 25 there will be one Bodyguard. The Bodyguard cannot use outside methods of communication, except when talking to the GO.

6) READ THIS NEW STUFF: New to this NPF game are additional roles, some benefitting the town and others adding new threats. If you receive one of these roles I will explain them in the PM, but just for everyone else's sake, here is a small little rundown.

The Seekers: The seekers start off as one person (the High Priest). Each Night the High Priest PMs the GO with the name of one person, and that person is 'initiated' into the seekers. Seeker members can talk with each other outside the game. The seekers win when all members of the Town are seekers.

The Mentalist: The mentalist is one player who has absolute control over what another player does. The controlled player cannot post anything without the consent of the mentalist. The controled player will have no knowledge of who the mentalist is. The mentalist MUST change the player he/she controls every night. When the mentalist changes players, the GO will roll a d4. If the GO rolls a 1, the mentalist dies. If 2-4, the mentalist goes on to the next player. The mentalist wins when he, and the player he's controling are the only players left(note: the controled player at the end does NOT win).

The Mercenary: The Mercenary (merc) is a town-aligned Player. Each night the merc may PM the name of one player, and that player is killed. The merc, like all townies, wins when all mafia are dead.

Masons: Masons are a group of townies who can talk outside the game.

7) The remaining number of players are Citizens. All discussions among Citizens must take place on this game thread.

***HONESTY GOES A LONG WAY***

Also, once killed, a poster is not told who is mafia and has no special knowledge the rest of you don't. Outside communication with living players is forbidden. Feel free to converse with your fellow dead/non-playing mates about the game.

---

The rounds will proceed as follows:

1. The 5 BoC decide on one person to kill. If the members of the BoC do not agree, then the High Priestess gets the final say. The High Priestess will PM the GO to report the target ASAP.

1a. The Mentalist will PM the GO with who (s)he wants to control.

1b. The High Priest will PM the GO with who (s)he wants to initiate. That player is then considered a member of the Seekers.

2. The GO will announce who was murdered. Those players roles will be revealed at that time.

The GO will be come up with a brief narration on what happened overnight. Sometimes there will be a clue or a red herring from the story.

3. The Police Officer may investigate one player. The Police Officer will PM the GO with the name of the player to be investigated ASAP. The GO will respond to the investigation by informing the PO whether that player is Mafia or not.

4. The Bodyguard (a.k.a. Doctor) may choose to defend one player. The Bodyguard will PM the GO with the screen name of that player ASAP. If the protected person is hit by the Mafia, the hit fails and the person continues in the game.

The bodyguard may not protect him/herself.

The GO will write a story to explain the failed hit. The story may (at his discretion) contain implications to some number of players using the same rules as the death post.

5. All of the players spend the remaining days discussing whom they think is in the Mafia. They can judge this based on who was killed last, how suspicious their opponents sound, or anything else they want to use as evidence.

6. Each player will vote on who is to be lynched.

Votes for lynching are to be posted on the thread. To simplify collating the votes, each player will identify their vote with the words vote: username followed by the screen name of the person they vote for. Be sure to bold your vote (EXample; Vote: CallmePrismatic), or it will not count. Votes may be posted at any time after the deathpost goes up and will end 76 hours after the hit deadline.

Revisions. Players will be allowed any number of revisions. The last post with a revision in before the voting deadline will be the one that counts. If you wish to revise your vote it should be identified first with an Unvote (EXample; Unvote: CallmePrismatic), and then a new Vote: SomebodyElse.

If you post your vote prior to the opening of voting for the round, it will not be counted. Revisions to those votes posted within the voting period will be counted.

The GO will tally the votes, and announce the lynched person. The lynched person is then out of the game. The lynched person may respond to the lynching by saying something to everyone before death, but only has one post. The lynched person may afterwards haunt the thread but they may say nothing substantial to the game and should not spam.

In the event of a tied lynch vote, the voting period shall be extended for twenty-four hours. Players who wish to amend their votes may do so during this period.

Should a player PM their vote to the GO resulting in the tie being broken, then votes will stand as at the close of the voting window.

At the close of the extended deadline, if the lynch vote is still a tie then there will be no lynching that week.

7. There will be a 24 hour "deliberation" period for the mafia, PO, and BG to choose their next target, after which, the next round begins. Repeat until:

-The Mafia are all dead, and all the Citizens are winners (yes, even the dead ones.).
-The number of Mafia make up at least half of the remaining players, then the Mafia are the winners.

BONUS ERRATA: New to this edition are a few more game action you can perform duing the day;

Roleclaim: Roleclaims are what they sound like, telling everyone else what your role is. This is not to be confused with Copy and Pasting your PM, which will get you modkilled. Rolelclaiming is your word only, no GO verification.

No Lynch Vote: If you feel that nobody is acting scummy enough or you simply do not want to lynch anyone, you may Vote: No Lynch. If the majority of people vote to not lynch, no one dies and the game is shifted towards Night.
