Calvin And Hobbes
Calvin and Hobbes is easily my MOST favorite comic. pretty much anyone can read and relate to it, although that isnt really the reason i read the comics. i especially like the character Hobbes because he tends to be the main part of the joke many times. plus, he's a tiger and he's smart. so far i have read the books:
"something drooling underneath the bed" (something like that) "calvin and hobbes" "yukon ho!" "the authoritative calvin and hobbes" "the essential calvin and hobbes" does anyone else read Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes?? |

.......*raises his hand. Then, a million people behind him does the same*
It is the greatest. What else is to be said? Well, perhaps that hobbes is also the greatest, but that's repeatitive. |

Yeah. We've got a forum full of C&H readers here. I'm a fan myself. For a laugh, the snowmen strips are the best, but Watterson put some thought into some other strips... deep stuff. Words that are far to big for a six-year-old to use.

yah, i love it when hobbes goes on his math rants using imaginary numbers to solve an addition problem. i personally dont enjoy the comics that go on a full story that take up maybe 15 panels. like when the comic when calvin and hobbes goes to yukon. its still good but not as funny as the other comics. i also love it when calvin makes this weird stands for stuff like insurance and a "swift kick in the butt". oh i also LOVE the comics that talk about his chewing gum magazine. those are really funny in a stupid way.

Oh, I dare say they're very funny in a very intelligent way. I'm sure you noticed the similarities gum chewing shares with other, let's call it, lifestyle activities. Or have you never seen an article about "Which running shoe is the best for your foot?"

My all time favorite storyline is where Calvin modifies his transmorgifier into a cloning machine and then delagates all his various duties to each one.

Calvin & Hobbes is the best. I remain convinced I have read every comic published, and if not all, then the vast majority. Incidentally, you can't understand and appreciate it quite as much until you've read the anniversary collection, though. It gives you an idea of just how deep Bill Watterson is.
Nitpicking: John Calvin was a theologian, not a philosopher. Well, at least he's noted for theology. I don't know much about any "philosophies" of his...speaking as a Calvinist. I don't know, I guess it comes down to what your definition of philosophy is. Go read some more Calvin & Hobbes.

I actually have one of the comics back when it was in papers back home. It's in a plastic portecter. Figured it'll be worth money someday. And I've got two copies of "It's a wonderful world" back home. After all, it was the last book.

I've a few books myself, got them from my grandpa, who has a very extensive collection. I love the mutated snowmen.

I must say this.
Slightly above average man, Jadarendir and myself are probably the biggest fans of Calvin and Hobbes on the forums. To all the older members, you definetly know why (and probably still hate us to this day) and to the newer members, never mind. But the greatest creation of Waterson's was the ingenious game, Calvinball. No other sport can possibly match it.
