A different kind of web-comic.
Let me first say I am a huge fan of sprite-art. I find comics like 8-bit Theater and Kid Radd (even though that's moreso pixel art) to be inspiring. I think they are a different and modern way of telling a story (when they are done properly. There is some real garbage out there in the sprite scene).
I had a craving about a month ago to read a serious sprite comic, rather than a comedy, with some sort of engaging plotline. I was searching around for something similar to an RPG-type story. Well, I came up empty-handed, so I decided I'd give my writer buddy a call. We've been working ever since on a sprite comic that will tell the story in the grain of an RPG. I'm having a great time with the creation of these comics, and I'd absolutely love some feedback. Here is a SAMPLE of the series thus far.

One fix the link for some reason their is " after the http:// I took it out and the link worked but fix it for other users.
Two I like howyou put the name's for the characters who were speaking at the begining of the text bubble but since I have no ideal who is who there needs to be a line from the character to the text or something. Edit: Most webcomics have an engaging plot but they input alot of comedy because since they update 3 times a week or so people come expecting their to be at least one joke in each one page update. No hummor might be very bad in the end run. Last edited by h4x.m4g3; 08-07-2004 at 03:30 AM. |

Yeah, the design for the textboxes we have debated, but when we poll readers, they say you don't know who is talking if you try to jump in mid-story, but if you read from the beginning (and especially if you check the character page) it's very clear who is speaking. I tried using lines and people said it looked awful and I shouldn't do it because I didn't need to. As far as keeping the plot pretty serious, many comicbooks are fairly humorless, and are more focused on plot/action, so we're going to try that route. Hopefully it will work in the webcomic world.
