We would need to know what is "useful" for you man. There are a LOT of Android apps out there, what falls into the possible uses of your phone?
i like these apps for random use: Bubble (a bubble level app) Super Ruler Free (multi rulers and measurements) ConvertPad (converts numbers into other numbers) Google Sky Map (its just really cool) Wi-Fi finder (google maps for wi fi spots) Skype WiFi Analyzer Office converter (converts office related documents for ease of access) Quickoffice or Kingsoft office (office for Android) These are all useful. for games... Plague Inc is awesome. Knights of Pen and Paper is a nice time sink with no "pay to advance" Save Ass Shooter is a nice puzzler Fragger is the same Pixel Dungeon is a cool little rogue like |

Not using voice this time. You can tell because there's grammars.
Man, I was using a Pantech C740 for 4 years. I don't even know what the fuck smart phones. I'm shooting for random suggestions here and I'll just grab anything that sounds cool/is cheap enough.
That said, I'm not using my new smart phone as a ruler/level/any kind of manual tool. Edit: Like the office stuff might be good, as I need to use office a (very little) bit for work for spreadsheets. Being able to do it on my phone at work would probably be pretty aces as opposed to at home. Those the best two office programs? Suggestions. Make them! Edit 2: Already grabbed apps for all the messengers I commonly use. Skype included.

Infectionator is a fun, free game. Also get Robot Unicorn Attack so the rest of the world accepts you as one of their own.

Splashtop: Real Time stream (Onlive style) from your PC to your Tablet/Phone. Even with my crappy tablet, Youtube videos, vidjamagames and other stuff run at full speed, full sound, anywhere in my house, and with like, $3 bucks a month you can access your home PC from any internet anywhere.
Dropbox or Drive: Good for keeping larger media (movies, whatevah) Onlive: Stream Touch games to your Tablet. If you want to play certain games, you'll need a bluetooth controller, and you'll also need to buy them ala onlive, but this means that if you have Deus Ex: HR for Onlive, you can now play it on your tablet/phone (with a good internet connection) Cytus: Forget OSU! (though OSU is okay on android) this is THE music game on Android, with hundreds of songs of increasing difficulty. Snes9x- yeah.... Exult: Buy Ultima 7 from Gog or have it already on your computer? Get exult, and play it on your phone! Iruna online: Mmorpg on yer tablet/phone. It's decent enough. (though if you have a bluetooth controller/whatever, and use Splashtop, you can play MMO's on your home computer from your phone) Google Play (comes with any android anyway but..) Keep your music for free in the cloud, a much better solution than itunes. Sync a folder with Google Play, then download the music to your tablet for offline listening, or just listen to the music streaming straight from their servers with an internet connection. If you play pathfinder, get Masterwork Tools, a complete access to the D20 pathfinder SRD, with pretty much everything on it for quick and easy offline lookup. Steam: Well, it's steam. Monitor purchases, buy things for your Steam account on the go, and more importantly, enter steam chat from anywhere. Crunchyroll: Anime watching. PokemonTV: Every pokemon episode EVER. For free. My niece and nephew were happy with it. Quick Manga: Good manga Reader Turn around the world: A mix of pipe dream and RPG, poorly translated but a nice time waster. Wifi Fixer: If your wifi has problems or you have connection issues that plague certain tablets/phones, this is the app for you. Sometimes your phone/tablet won't automatically connect, or will disconnect and forget to reconnect every time it goes to sleep/lock. This app will continually check for things like the strongest signal and and best latency, as well as continually make sure you're connected. USB BT Joystick Center: not free, but this lets you use any usb controller (need an micro-USB to USB OTG adapter, which usually comes free with your phone/tablet) and play it with your tablet, or use any Bluetooth controller with your Phone/tablet. PS3, Wii, and Xbox, too! Twitch TV: Watch live game streams. Good for things like EvoCon, or watching Awesome Games done quick marathons. MX Player: Play ANYTHING on your Tablet. Universal media player, which is good because MP4 isn't exactly the tiniest format for stuff, and conversion is always a pain when you just wanna watch something. Moon Reader: I wish Stanza was on Android, but this'll do. Andie Graph: This is probably not for Krylo, but anyone still in College and needs a Ti-83-4-5 calculator, get this app and 'somehow' get the bios for any of those calculators, and you can use your 'Droid as a graphing calculator with full functionality- my Algebra teacher allowed it, and even used it to demonstrate things to the class because my tablet is much larger than an actual one, so she could show off the proper buttons!

Grabbed a bunch of these.
. . . mostly the games. I'm a terrible person. Note: I'm mostly going to be using this at work with a 3 gig plan, so I'm gonna avoid using too much internet heavy stuff until I can convince my boss to put a wireless router in. . . . My boss is also terrible. Onlive via phone sounds cool but I don't have onlive and so uh, yeah. On Masterwork tools: Do you know if there's stuff like that for other systems? Shadowrun and Anima would be most useful to me.

Telling us which phone you got would be nice :P. There are some things that only work on some phones (like Sony's small apps)
A music player you might want is Droidsound. It won't replace your regular music player but: Quote:
Quickpic is a nice photo/video explorer that won't place all your photos/videos in a single, stupidly huge list with no real organization. It can organize your images/videos by folders and, is quite fast and nice. You'll still want MX Player though, that one is just awesome for video playback. This file browser has many nice features and is quite easy to use. Finally, you might want to try a different launcher for your phone. Those basically change your phone's main screen and app list appearance. It may not sound like much but, you have to try them. Personally, I use Nova Launcher and, I've used Go Launcher EX in the past, but I haven't used it in ages since they added many things that are, IMHO, useless and even annoying, which may or may not bother you.

Swiftkey Keyboard: Depending on how you feel about the stock keyboard, you might want to consider switching to this. Pretty much the best keyboard app that I've used that's allows you to change the keypad size, color scheme and use Voice to Text. Also has pretty amazingly accurate word predictions so I almost never have to type out full words and it auto corrects most of my typos to the word I want without much fuss. Also use Swype on Swiftkey or on your stock keyboard if you have that feature. It's amazing, just swipe your finger from letter to letter instead of tapping each individual key.
ColorNote: I use this as my notepad app instead of the stock note app. Allows you to add note widgets to your home screens. Umano: News app that has a compilation of the day's latest articles covering a variety of different subjects and has professionals read the articles to you. Great for if you want to get the news but you're commuting in the car or something like that. Venmo: Money transfer app in which you link a bank account to the app and you can very easily transfer money to a friend's account and no transaction fees on debit cards. |
