For the last installment go here.

Anyway, we got a new batch of Famitsu scans, and with them we also have new information:

-The first scan comes with the revelation of Shantotto through Famitsu. While nothing new, it includes some hilarious pictures of her owning everything from Garland through Terra. More importantly, Cloud's and Sephiroth's alternate outfits are shown, including a makeover for the Buster Sword (the First Tsurugi) in this one.


Shantotto's attacks vary according to her Brave. The more she has, the stronger she gets. After a point she will start casting ancient magic.

-Next we have EX-Modes for the cast of IX and V. Although we already know what they consist of, Bartz's EX-Mode will make everyone who played the game chuckle:


-Lastly, there's an interview with Nomura and the team. Not posted here because of it being in Japanese, there are some two important tidbits of information contained. The first is that Nomura confirms there won't be any XIII representation due to the game not making the cut. However, he says to "expect something concerning XII in the immediate future". Considering the "Destiny Hero's Guide" comes out this Friday, one can guess this has to do with its secret character.

Anyway, they are releasing a FF XII character. I hope it's either

A) Garbanth

or

B) Balthier as we need a more ranged character. But knowing how S-E can drop the ball, it'll be Vahn.

Since it seems that XI and XII won't get a pair, I'm almost sure that we will get a Chaos character to level both sides. While a ranged character would be nice, the only villain in the game that fits that quota is Dr. Cid, and frankly I do not see him gaining the position over Gabranth. Which isn't that bad, really, since Gabranth could bring dual-wielding into the fray.

Dr. Cid would be an inspired choice, nonetheless.

I really feel like someone needs to translate those dialogue subtitles in the screenshots.

For instance, I'm curious as to why Garland is just chilling out behind Squall.

Some info regarding the interview:
  • Nomura added Shantotto because the XI staff was interested in the game. Kind of makes Shantotto stand out as a last addition character, like Sonic in Brawl.
  • Shantotto is NOT part of the main storyline, although she has a small alternative side one.
  • You can choose to be on Chaos' or Cosmos' side for the story mode, making the game twice as long See below.
  • Nomura made a request for XIII to make a debut in the game. However, the possibilities of image, rendering techniques and etcetera were not put to use for Dissidia, whatever the hell that means. Again, he says to expect something regarding XII.
  • There is an Online Mode and Communications Mode where you can get special items.
  • Something special happens when you hit level 100.
  • There is a Replay mode in the game.
  • There are twenty-four stages and twelve stage gimmicks, probably meaning half of the stages are gonna look unique, but won't have little special actions, making them more like Final Destination, upon re-reading, different types of actions, like wall-climbing, pitfalls, grinds, and such See below.

EDIT: Okay, fuck it, here's the corrected info from a more reliable source:
  • When you save replays of matches, there're lots of options in the action replay for playing with the camera, zoom, and even removing displays and taking screenshots. =O
  • There is equipment that works like artifact types in the game. They'll be indicated with a hammer icon. With equipment that are artifact types, they can be transferred from player to player over the online lobby. Each transfer has a possibility of changing the equipment's name/stats into something else. It's kinda like a chain mail/virus item that evolves from going to player to player and even tracks ownership history.
  • The Command Battle option in the game actually turns the game from an action title to a menu driven battle where you simply select the actions that you want the character to take. Like Attack/Defend/Run/etc. It's not just a menu for different attacks.
  • The three install types are Battle Data, Battle Data + Story Data, and Full Install.
  • The FF Museum section has a Character Files section looks a lot like FFXII's beastiary, except it seems to cover characters as well. Really nice.
  • There'll definitely be a FFXII character.
  • Chaos side characters have no story mode, this is finally confirmed. Only Cosmos characters will, but you will see the story for both sides by playing through with all the Cosmos characters.
  • There are no hidden game modes that have not been announced.
  • There are only twelve stage maps in the game, one for each game, one for Cosmos and one for Chaos. There are twenty-four selectable options because you can select each stage with or without the stage gimmicks that might be present. The 25th stage selection is just the "random stage" option.

Oh, and it's mentioned that aside from using character from the entire series as Friend Card icons, they're also using them for Help messages, so characters from every single FF game will be providing help messages via text. Between the help message characters and all the selectable player icons you can unlock, there are over 300 characters in total.

Some Ultimania α shots have appeared on the internet. So far we only have this:



Unless I'm reading it wrong, it seems Golbez's EX-Mode is his design from the FFIV DS remake plus the colours of the Shadow dragon.

I cannot see any changes in Cecil's forms. Any help here?

EDIT: It sounds like the Ultimania α is a total waste of money. The only thing of interest is a list of tracks from FFI-X that will be used for the map part of the game in Story Mode.

This is by no means a complete list of the tracks in the game, it's just what the map screen for each story mode character will be:

These are not the actual arrangements. I'm only linking to them for illustrative purposes.

EDIT2: Some other info from the Ultimania α that I didn't post earlier:
  • Apparently when in EX Mode, Cecil can change classes freely using R + Square.
  • The PP Catalog of stuff you can unlock includes: Chaos characters, alternate outfits, stages for use in Quick Battle Mode, Battle BGM, Friend Card Icons, Calendar Bonuses.
  • There's a Calendar Mode in the game when you first start a save file. You are allowed to select a special day in the week where you have more time to play the game than usual. Special bonuses are available when playing Dissidia on those days.
  • It costs 500 PP to unlock Chaos Characters. We're not sure if this is an unlock for all 10, or if it's 500 PP for each Chaos character. Each sounds more logical though.
  • In the Museum mode character viewer, you can check the play statistics of all the playable characters you've used so far. Tracked stats include play time, distance travelled, etcetera.
