Headsets?

My cheap headset is falling apart. I'm getting a replacement.

However, I also hear headphones + separate mic is superior, but since I have neither it may be more expensive? Synk's thread is a year and a half ago, though.

I've been tentatively eyeing up these, I'm reluctant to pay more than that. I've already splashed out £50 on a mouse a couple days ago, as my current one is buggered (dodgy scroll wheel finally packed up and won't scroll now). I note that the price has gone up since then...
Any thoughts?
