Mouse drivers... twice?

I've got this USB mouse - it's a Trust DS-1700R, for all that matters - and it keeps on insisting that it needs to install it's drivers twice.

I've got this feeling it's causing trouble where my mouse will simply become unresponsive, until I remove the plug from the USB slot and plug it in again.

I've done:

• Virus-scan, including boot-scan. Didn't think this would find anything, but I figured it wouldn't hurt.
• Turned off one of the mice (presumably th
  e pseudo-mouse)
• Used a different mouse
• Uninstalled one of the mice
• Uninstalled BOTH mice (then unplugged, replugged the actual, physical mouse)

All options proved futile as the pseudo-mouse kept re-activating itself, or re-installing itself (twice in the last option).

Help?

EDIT: never mind. It seems my PC is now completely borked. The mouse is the least of my problem.
