Gaara, Naruto, AND DON'T READ IF YOU FEAR SPOILERS

I don't get it. I just don't get it. Why would the Naruto crew knock off Gaara? He was such a major character in the Naruto storyline. He was the kazegage of the village of sand even. Not to mention that the events leading up to his death made it come out of left field. Gaara is kidnapped, Naruto vows to save him while thinking about how he and Gaara were so similar (except that Naruto found friends and Gaara didn't), they arrive at the lair of the Akataski, ready to save Gaara in a perfect setup for a couple cliffhanger comics, but by the way....your to late he's dead.

Why would they kill Gara when they had the perfect chance to kill off minor characters that have little plot impact, like Choji and Neji for example. With them, I wonder why they didn't kill them off (I'm not saying their bad characters, they're in fact some of my favorites). They were caught in life or death battle where they achieved victory at the cost of gaining mortal injuries, from which they were sure would kill him. But wait! Tsunade heals them! YAY everyones happy. Then they kill Gaara out of nowhere.

I just don't get it.

When Choji and Neji ended their battles, you assumed they were dead, yes?

Perhaps they will be doing that again with Gaara.

This part of the story just started, they have plently of time to save Gaara.

I thought that too. And I still hope that. But Naruto was screaming at Gaara's corpse to get up....and it didn't. If Gara lives after that, it kinda shows that the Naruto crew is afraid to kill off a character, minor or major. I know that sounds kind of hypocritical, but Gaara's death doesn't upset me as much as the way they led up to Gaara's death.

Maybe Gaara will survive his Bijuu removal? Who knows? People will like him a lot more if that gets out of him.

EDIT: People liked Chouji and Neji, they won't kill them off so soon.

Honestly, with his body still laying around and with the characters beating us over the head by mentioning how he's dead, the chance he's actually alive is probably somewhere in the 99.9% range.
