New World, A Pen and Paper RPG by Me
Okay, so I'm working on a pen and paper rpg to test out with my cousins and maybe one or two others, and wanted some feedback. To start off with, there are only three basic stats: Strength, Agility, and Magic. There are three lesser stats as well: Charisma, Acrobatics, and Endurance. I'll talk more on how this will work later.
There are four races, with base starting stats as follows: Synthetics: Base Str. 6, Base Agi. 6, and Base Mag. N/A. Synthetics are robots, and only living things can use magic, however, they make up for it by being stronger and faster than the other races. Ashkin: Base Str. 1, Base Agi. 3, and Base Mag. 7. Ashkin are lifeforms created from Dark Magic and as such can only use Dark Magic. They are physically weak, average speed, but their magic is the strongest of all races. Seryf: Base Str. 4, Base Agi. 2, Base Mag. 5. Like Ashkin, except created from Light Magic. They are not as skilled casters as Ashkin, but they compensate by being stronger. Humans: Base Str. 5, Base Agi. 4, Base Mag. 2. Humans are natural lifeforms and can use either magic type, but are generally less skilled at magic, as it is not a part of their being. Almost as strong and fast as Synthetics. Stats Strength: Determines how much you can carry, helps determine physical damage, and helps determine Endurance. Agility: Determines speed, helps dodge some attacks, and helps determine Acrobatics. Magic: Determines how much MP you have, as well as the strength of spells. Other Stats- Half of related stat, then rounded down, plus any extra points added when leveling. Charisma: Used when interacting with NPC's. Acrobatics: Used when sneaking or doing parkour or climbing and such. Endurance: Used when doing a strenuous task for extended time. Light/Dark Mana Points and Spells You get as many Light/Dark points per day as you have points in your Magic Stat. Both types of magic have four basic spells. The point is to use these few spells creatively. Dark Spells: Kinesis, Weaken, Hold Enemy, and Water. Light Spells: Kinesis, Protection, Healing, and Fire. A new Ashkin Hero gets three spells and gets their fourth at level 4. A new Seryf hero gets two spells and gets their third at level 3, and their fourth at level 5. A new human Hero gets one spell and gets a new one at levels 3, 6, 9, etc. God Points Every new Hero starts with 5 God Points which replenish between gaming sessions. Heroes can earn more God points by doing special missions for temples. However, a hero can only earn one extra point in a session. These points can be used to increase a roll or heal during, or out of, combat. Health A new Hero's health is 5 plus their strength, and get more HP equal to their strength every level. However, if a Hero's strength is less than three, they get three additional HP instead. Gaining Stat Points Heroes start with five bonus Base Stat points to put into Base Stats of their choosing, and five for the other stats as well. They gain an extra Base Stat point every level, and an extra other stat point every other level. The World Synthetics live in a vast desert full of smog and metal cities that resemble an industrial zone. They are ruled by a benevolent dictator known as Machiavelli the Thirteenth. They are currently having a cold war with the Seryf. None look the same, and their appearance is often related to their purpose. They are a more skeletal kind of machine rather than looking human though. Seryf live on a lunar colony called Megido. Their whole government and society is based around a religion which worships Light Magic, believing that the magic itself is God. The religion and the Seryf as a whole are ruled by High Priest Luten. They all look like angels, but their wings are made of Light Magic rather than being actual wings. Ashkin live in the frozen south in a kingdom of constant night. They are kind and prefer to avoid conflict. They are not particularly religious, but do not discount it. They are led by the Shadow King, who's name is Luke. They, as well as their king, have pitch black skin and thin, angular bodies. Horns twist from their skulls, and these have the same color as their bodies. Humans have cities everywhere and look much the same as they do today. They are in charge of the World Council, which works to prevent the world from being destroyed as it has in the past, by them in case you were wondering. They have no single leader, and are instead led by a council. The Seryf started their Cold War with the Synthetics as they believe the Synthetics are forsaken by God, and that it is their duty to erase the Synthetics from the Earth before the coming Apocalypse. However, they merely build their weapons and do not strike, for fear of the World Council. They also consider Ashkin to be Demons, and think that there will be a great war between the two races. However, the Ashkin's magical prowess has convinced some close to the High Priest that the Ashkin can be saved, and turned to the Light. There is a final group to take note of. The Glitch. The Glitch are identical humanoid creatures made of pure chaotic energy that have been entering the world through rips in space time. These rips have been being created by a man called Mania, an insane genius in an ivory mask and black robes. However, Machiavelli does not in fact believe in Mania and believes that the Seryf are somehow behind it. It still needs some work, particularly the spells, but is there any advice or opinions people would be willing to give?
