Silhouette of a Rose

So normally I hate sestinas because I find them overly cumbersome and without a good flow, but I had this one as an idea on the drive to school and alternated writing it with writing code.




Silhouette of a Rose

In the cafe I saw her
A hand upon her nose
At first I couldn't see her face
But even then, it shows
Even as a silhouette
She's pretty as a rose

She took a napkin to her nose
A smile upon her face
She talked about the variety shows
Her friend was just a silhouette
As she said goodbye and rose
I took my chance and caught her

I knew she knew my face
From one of the variety shows
"Who's that girl, the silhouette?"
"Oh, that? Her name is Rose
"I can't say I that I know her
"But I like to poke my nose

"She needs a friend; it shows"
I looked back at her silhouette
Rose? I liked that. Rose
I thanked the girl and went to her
She sniffed and wiped her nose
The smile had left her face

The world became a silhouette
As I first saw Rose
I sucked it up and said to her,
"I hate to poke my nose,
"But you have a really pretty face
"And even sad, it shows"

She smiled and rose
And looked at me, her
Hand went to her nose
"I didn't think that I could face
"The world. I guess it shows
"Thanks," she left, a silhouette

She stopped and turned and looked at me, her hand went to her nose
She hid her face, but then she asked, "Will you be at the shows?"
I nodded at her silhouette. She smiled. "My name is Rose"
