I think my computer is freezing over!
You know how when you're trying to start a car that's covered in snow and it does that sputtering, gasping start before it dies? That's what my computer's doing and I have no idea what the hell. The power light comes on, the fan gives a twitch, and then nothing. Press the button again, same deal. Sometimes nothing happens at all. Eventually comes on.
This morning I wasn't getting anything, not even the sputter, so I turned it on its side to open it up and pressed the power button again, and it sputtered. A few more tries and it started up. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT IDEAL AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON.

Your power supply is defective. Buy a new one.
P.S. It may or may not have damaged your other hardware! |

It would also turn back on when I shut it down.
That's probably what it is. I had this happen before, or something similar at any rate.

Get a power supply tester before buying a new one. Mine was behaving the same way a month ago and it was the mobo. Lucky i had a tester because otherwise I'd have been out $60
