Xbox 360 audio/video problems (potentially TV problems?)
EDIT --- Right so my PS3 stopped working in HD now too, so I think it's safe to say the TV got fried.
Right so a couple of days ago there was a nasty power surge at my house, and ever since then my 360 will no longer display in HD with Component cables. Those of you that know the 360's component cables will know it has a switch to change between HDTV and regular TV. Well the lack of video is only occuring when it's switched to HDTV. However, when I switch it to TV and have it run in standard definition, I get video but no audio. Xbox support suggested it might be the cable, but I tried a different cable and I got the same problem, so they said I would have to send it in. Unfortunately my warranty is up and I'd rather not pay the $100 service fee if I can avoid it. Oh, and to top it all off, my friend brought his Xbox and cables over (he has an HDMI instead of a Component cable) so I could try and guess what might really be causing the problem, and both Xboxes worked with the HDMI, his Xbox worked with my component cables, but in all cases there was still no sound. What makes this weirder is that I also have a PS3, which is hooked up to the TV with an HDMI cable, and it runs perfectly fine with no problems whatsoever. So yeah, anyone have any ideas what might be going on? Last edited by Arcanum; 07-24-2010 at 02:53 PM. |
