Anime seqeunce from "Kill Bill"
Anyone in agreement with me that the anime sequence of O'Ren Ishii's beginnings was one of the best parts of Kill Bill? It reminded me of some of the over-the-top blood spray scenes from various other animes.

I think it was over-rated. I can imagine to someone who doesn't watch much anime that sequence might look visually stunning and dramatic, but it wasn't the most visually stunning thing I've ever seen, either.
Not that it wasn't great, but I've seen better. |

So it wasn't the prettiest thing ever, big deal. It was there as a creative liberty to explain a character's back story, and I feel it was executed fantastically.
Just because something isn't vivid and shiny doesn't mean it's any less adept at telling a story. Look at some of the old Disney movies, the colors and animation in those are bad compared to some of the animation today, but that doesn't detract from the storytelling of say, Snow White for instance.

The anime scene had more blood in it than the rest of the movie.
I was pretty sure they were gonna drown in it.

Haven't seen it yet simply because my friend (who likes those types of movies) said it was somewhat disturbing). A 'Bit disturbing' to him = I don't know if I want to see it at the theater.....
