Fun i have a tablet and i'm dorking it!

Got it for my B-day, the Motorolla Xoom 2 Media Edition.

I know feel 100% dorkish with this thing, and i love it

personally i have no real need for a laptop or netbook, nor do i actually need a smartphone... but i always wnated a mobile device that i could customize to my everyday routine, so a tablet seems fitting to me.

Shoved with a ton freeware already. There is a lot of cool and useless stuff out there.

This thing is actually pretty cool, even thoufh is somewhat limited to it's 32Gb capacity (no SD card slot, and no 3G connection, WiFi only.)

It rolls with Android Honeycomb 3.2 and can be updated to Icecream sandwich (4.0) ...and i really think the guy who made these names up was asking their 5 year old kids for ideas...

Also, here is the thing... i plan on using this to keep writing my book. It comes with a Office-like software that allows me to create word files! WOOT! Probably gonna be weird typing on a touchscreen, but this one is at least lighting fast in response

So, Tablets! Android! Anybody else in on those? Thoughts? Also, share some apps you guys might know on your phones too!

I thought this was gonna be a thread where Bellsouth draws for us and I was extremely disappointed.

i heard a lot of good things about that one, but i still prefer the more compact ones, the XOOM 2 ME fits in my pocket (it gets stuff like a thin book... but it still fits!) the larger 10'' tablets haven't grown on me at all, an 8'' screen is just good enough for movies and playing criminal amounts of Angry Birds

Tablets own, yeah. The 8" thing works for me too like I'm not trying to do serious work on this thing it is strictly a dickaround bullshit device slash movieplayer.

I've been PRETTY OKAY with ICS on my phone but not so much that I'd say you gotta gotta gotta upgrade from honeycomb.

TBH the only 'apps' I really REALLY use on it are like, 1. web browser, 2. netflix. (same as my phone with the addition there of 3. calling people with my phone.) I've been meaning to load it up with MY ANIMES but haven't got around to that, it'll probably happen sometime after I've watched like... every TNG/DS9 episode twice.

Honeycomb right now isn't that huge of a big a deal yet... there are really very few apps made for it, and even those you can find a version or something similar in lower forms of Android... i'm not sure what they plan to bring onboard for Ice Cream Sandwich, but since these things are damn expensive it's good to know i'm at least somewhat "futureproof".

I had to pick up the Mobo video player though (free and awesome), the stock one from Motorolla is really limited. Now i'm just wondering is i really need a File manager...

i also really like the stupid free apps like Metal Detector, Range Finder, there are some good WiFi Analyzers and even a WiFi map with offline database which can be really usefull...

ES file manager (or whatever the non google translated version is called) is really nice. I agree with the Mobo thing, so far it's the best video player I've found, specially since I can make it look for files in the folders I want AND show the files in said folders (instead of just shoving everything into a gallery or whatever)

It's an android device, and who knows if you can buy stuff from the Android Market (I cannot because Google hates my debit card), you might be interested into the latest Humble Bundle, it comes with 5 (6 if you beat the average) games for Linux, Windows, MasOS and Android.

Also, you should see if that thing supports USB OTG, and get an HDMI cable because connecting small things to big screens is awesome.

Welcome to the fold, Bells. I've been usin mine for networkin' (subnet calculators are a godsend!) primarily. Few wifi apps I have for when I'm warwalkin the campus for rogue access points to report to the IT department. Things like that. Other tablety stuff secondary.

Quite content with my XOOM. Sturdy, reliable, and overall snappier when I put Ice Cream Sammich on it. Slapped that puppy in the first night I could and didn't look back.

I can only compute on devices that weigh in excess of 40 pounds due to certain inadequacy issues. (Plus I can't really water cool a tablet.)
