Where is that Tank from?

In Brian's latest newspost he has a neat sort of Tankie-thing up. I was just wondering what game its from. I vaguely recall seeing something like that for the Playstation 1 Master Blaster remake/newer version (new being a relative term, as its PS1 we're talking about), but I dunno.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

that is from blaster master. never played the on for the playstation but the NES one is pretty much the same design as what you have up but the colors are different.

The gif itself is from some website devoted to Blaster Master. I don't think it appears in any game.

That is definately the Tank the Frog turns into for Blaster Master but I wonder why someone made it into a moving gif without making it hop

Edit Confused the mutated frog only gets bigger but some say it did turn into the tank, but the thing is, watching the previews shows you fighting the frog so it does leave confusion...

Basically the Gif is slightly cleaner than the still gif of when you first see the vehicle.

Wow, that picture brings up so many memories.....
Oh, SpokeAvriel the frog doesn't turn into the tank, it just jumps down the hole, the boy follows the frog and finds the tank (ex. your pic) You actually fight the boy's frog at the second to last level of the game.

Yeah. I just realized that Master Blaster has the strangest plot of any game I have ever played. You start out as an innocent boy in suburbia. Then, your pet frog jumps on a radioactive... box out in your back yard. Then, for no apparent reason, the ground opens up and you fall in after the frog. And then you find a tank, but it is not just a tank. It is a technical marvel with multiple ordnance, jumping and amphibious capabilities. And you just take it. So you go out in this new world, through this hole in your back yard, and fight monsters. I forget how it ends though.

Hey, Acolyte, there is actually a book about Master Blaster out in stores. It actually has a storyline and characters.

There are frog bosses at the end of stage 4 and stage 7.

When you finish the game, you get a new GIF of the kid and the Sofia (Sophia? It's the name of the tank) overlooking the horizon. I'm pretty sure your frog hops onto the tank too. So really, the whole game is a mission to save your pet frog from radioactive plutonium evil.

Great graphics for a 8-bit game from 1988. The game is pretty tough too, and stage 8 is enough to cause radical fits of frustration!

Edit: Scanned the last page of the instruction booklet for your enjoyment. It's strange, but they don't mention the name of the tank anywhere in the American booklet. The name of the tank is listed on the tank's coat of arms, which appears as a pixel graphic during the closing credits of the game though.

well dont forget this is the same era where hedgehogs collected rings and gems and italian plumers went down drains and fought turtles and mushrooms
