Stealing AB's schtick.
|
Ppa Rp
As you enter side wing of the NSA building, you are greeted by blank, slate grey walls, sharply contrasting the tastefully decorated corridors you left. You're still buzzing, trying to make sense of the mocking comments of the reception staff upon your saying you were here for PPA assignment. Finally reaching the end of the hall, you enter a room on your right, seeing a middle aged man in a business suite behind a desk piled high with files and papers. The walls are covered with photo's of flying disks, most circled and marked on, and blurry images that may or may not be ghosts.
"Welcome to the Paranormal Protection Agency, the ghosts who hunt other spirits. You have been chosen because you represent the qualities I feel neccesary for the carrying out of these tasks. No, you are not the 'best of the best', the top of your class, if we did that, we'd draw too much attention." The man stops, laughing, "But make no mistake, there is something that sets you appart from your peers, makes you more qualified to assume this position." He hands you a manilla file, with a single page in it, "This will explain things to you, I'm not here for public relations." With that, he returns to his pages, giving off the strong hint that it's time for you to leave. Pulling out the paper, it has the following on it: 1. According to Washington, this agency does not exist. We report only to the secretary of defense, and our jurisdiction supercedes anything short of a direct presidential order. 2. Just because you are assigned to a case, does not mean it is paranormal. For every true psychic, there are a thousand frauds. Be skeptical, but don't close your mind. 3. Direct conflict with your squad will not be tolerated. I don't give a damn if you do have a different opinion, deal with it. 4. Follow all regional laws, unless they directly interfere with completion of your objective. We will not bail you out should you be arrested, as we do not technically exist. 5. If at all possible, do not engage in shootouts. Many things can be explained better with logic than bullets, and evidence is more important that corpses. Character sheets: Name: age: physical description: class: (agent, gunman, medic, psychic, occultist) beliefs: (religious, paranormal, ghosts, UFO's etc.) bio: (background, training, personality) Spots that have already been reserved: Dante: Medic SuperSaiyan: psychic Lumaes: occultist Psrdirector: undecided Pixie: undecided If you want a character class outside those listed, try and justify why one would be needed (wheelman, infiltrator, etc)

Name: Bradley 'Psych!' Roberts
Age: 24 Physical description: Psych is fairly tall, but a type of lanky muscular. Like a basketball player. He's fond of leather jackets and suits, and has a goatee along with his crew-cut. He's got dark brown hair, and features that can switch between extreme warmth and compassion, and extreme cold and lack of mercy. Class: Psychic Beliefs: He's a fairly firm Roman Catholic, though he'll openly admit differences of opinion with the church. Basically, he tries to keep an open mind about everything, but doesn't really believe in anything except God without fairly certifiable proof. Bio: Psych became a police officer at the age of 19, spent two years on patrol, then moved to narc. While for most of his life he'd been abnormally good at "reading" people to take a guess at what kind of person they were, it really exploded full force when he started finding drug addicts and dealers. He could feel addicts pain and their psychosis, knew where ambushes were, he knew what had driven people to drugs and in instants at a time he fell into the hole of hopelessness that people felt. Somehow, he kept it together though. That was until he made a bust on a whore-house that used addiction to control the females. That's when he snapped. After he gunned down the boss he shot himself twice in the leg in an effort to distract his mind from the infinite suffering he felt. When that didn't work he brought the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. The bullet had a dimple and misfired. After his fellow officers tackled and disarmed him, they put straight into a mental institution. That was, until a few months ago. Right after that time, men in suits showed up and took him out, their minds being nothing but total concentration. Thus, the PPA trained him to be able to block out pain. So far, his abilities have developped into a very vague form of mind-probing (Being able to tell if they know something, if they're scared or so on) an extremely good premonition sense, an ability to feel ghosts, and the ability to look through someone's eyes. Quick question: As the RP progresses, can I bust out with Psi-Ops style abilities? Like, as we get later could I develop posession, pyromancy, illusions, convincing people I"m not there, and telekinesis? And could I have telekinesis now, just limited to very small objects? (Like yanking a gun out of someone's hands for example)

Name: Patrick Corkin
age: 20 physical description: Patrick is off above average height with frighteningly pale skin, it appears even paler in contrast to his jet black hair. He has soft features and icily blue eyes. He is lanky and thin, well suited to a accedemic life. class: Occultist beliefs: Patrick was raised in a devoutly Catholic family but rejected catholisism and christianity early in his life, turning to more "new age" and ancient belief systems to find purpose. bio: Patrick never got on well with other people and frequently was in trouble at school, although he was a accelerated student. In high school he became involved in a Wiccan circle, which caused him to retreat even further from "normal" people. At sixteen he started university, covering a course on Folklore and Mythology. He was a brilliant student, producing faultless work. However, after university there are very few jobs where a degree in Folklore is needed. Therefore when two men approached him to offer him a job he readily excepted.

i have a question: can there only be one of each class? for example if SS is a psychic does that mean that i can't be one?

His initial thread suggested no.
However, who knows. I'm still hoping he says no though. I love being the unique one.

Any chance of playing an alien or something else paranormalish that parades around in a human disguise?

There can be two of each class, but it wouldn't work very well, unless they were each very specialised, I am going to say no to the double psychics. As for telekinesis, I'd say not yet. psychic abilities come in two flavors, ESP (what you have) and PK (telekinesis) they require vastly different personalities and focuses, though with practice you'll eventually be able to.
I'm iffy about aliens, as that would blow the question of does this really exist or is it all explainable, post, and i'll decide for sure.

Ahh, I thought the organization was more MIB than X-Files. I'll try this out, otherwise can I just be the Macguyver guy?
Name: Aerelio age: Unknown physical description: Looks extremely normal. Average all around. Wears a jacket and has glasses (Not MASH Radar glasses, just something so he can see). Black hair. class: Tecchie/Macguyver beliefs: Dismisses religion and the paranormal, believes on in technology. bio: 1970's, on a day that never happened: Something crashed in the outer woods of a suburb. 'Agents' of some kind were immediatly dispatched, and were followed (greeted?) by gun shots and explosions. When the local police arrived they found a few dead men in dark suits with no identification and some strangely dressed men. Under a log was a woman who appeared to be near death clutching a baby. As the officals came closer, she began speaking in an undecipherable language and handed the baby over before passing. Assumed to be some sort of underworld fued or Mafia hit, the case was closed, and the baby was sent to an orphanage. The day after that, two men in dark suits came, offering very little identification but lots of money. The child had a new home. Over the next month or so, various tests were run on the child. Although he appeared and functioned like a normal human, there were various things that set him apart. For example, his eyes were almost all pupil. If you were to stare at his eyes long enough, you'd realize that instead of [blank] colored eyes, he had a very large pupil. He also had the strangest fingerprints, consisting of straight lines in lieu of circles and arcs. His internal organs were also shady. The baby had no appendix or tonsils, his lungs operated independantly from each other, and his heart beat approximatly twice a minute. Perplexed, the government sent him to the scientists working on the ship that had been recently recovered. A widowed scientist there was assigned to him, growing more attached. Almost a year after the initial incident, the scientist reported that the child had died from a common cold that had slowly worked its way around the child's immune system. The government was dissapointed but not sad. A week later the scientist requested and was granted a permanent absence with pay. Later: The former scientist named the child Aerelio after the code-named ship. Since he could not risk exposing the child to the upper authorities, doctors could not be involved, so the child was homeschooled. By the age of three he had deduced that Santa's annual ride was a physical impossibility. By six he had read all of Darwin's theories and books and made his own theory that gorrilas had descended from man, but had stuck to what they were good at and let the lesser life forms run wild. By 16 he had created an alternative energy source that powered his house using only an AA battery. By 21 he had proven that light speed travel without time manipulation was possible. The scientist was at first suprised, then overjoyed, although he was sad that he could not publish his "son's" findings without attracting attention. One day, Aerelio hijacked his father's computer and fabricated all the fake documents he needed to attend MIT. He informed his father of his decision and left against his wishes. After flying through the school in under a year, he was 'picked up' by the NSA, where his immense knowledge of various technologies and physics would be put to good use. Kinda something like that? He doesn't know he's an alien, he just believes hes got an eye problem and an irregular heartbeat.

That works perfectly, as he's not neccessarily an 'alien' with 'mutant' and 'genetic anomoly' also possible. Good job
Agents are your basic well rounded person. Investigative skill, deception, minor gunplay. That kinda thing. Also, they're the best at getting easy cooperation.
