Dune RPG

Anyone interested in a dune RPG?
My friend and I have been writing the rules and information for a Dune based RPG. If enough people are interested in playing here, I will post the rules for character creation and we can get rolling. Also as a side note, when we are all done writing the game, I am going to write it into a RPG rule book complete with art and examples. If anyone has any tips or suggestions or an Idea of how to get this thing published it would be greatly apreciated.

I want to play! Atreides house for me!

That's really really cool, but it doesn't works as a book, unless you state it is purely unofficial and that you are only using the planets from the book.

If you want it official, go talk with the family of the author. Show them what you want. Then, hope you get the OK from them.

Questions.

1. How far down the time line would we be playing? (Which book would be happening at or near the same time?)

2. Can we play as Fremen, or would that be god-moding?

3. Can we play as Bene-Gesuit, or would that be god-moding.

4. Would it include multiple planets and guild fare transport, or would it just be played on Arakis?

5. Can we be the leader of a minor house?

6. Can we be the leader of a major house?

7. Do we have to be members of a house?

8. Would las-guns be common or uncommon?

9. What about personal sheilds?

It would be taking place most likely just prior to the events of Dune. You can be of pretty much any house. Because the known universe of Dune consists of Millions of inhabited planets and thousands of Major and Minor Houses very little if any of the game would take place on Arakis. You can be the leader of a major or minor house but the houses that are in the books are off limits. Las guns and personal shields are both very common. If you are going to be with house Harkonnen, Atreides, or any of the other houses portrayed in the movies you can only be a soldier not a direct member of the family. You can create a house and planet and the benefits of being of that house. (For example atreides get a bonus to interacting with other houses, a bonus to spice trance rolls, and other stat bonuses and penalties.) The only thing you really can't be is a guild navigator cause that would be boring and lame to RP. There is a lot of ground to cover as far as selection rules so I will probably post a link or something later.

Oh, and how about there being another planet similar to Arrakis in the sense that it's not really owned by any house and that one house has been sent there recently? (Just like the first book, but only the beggining would be similar.)

Also, I think that with more detail will come more people interested. Some are just in it to play the game and not nessecarily because they liked and or have read the book.

Can I play as a Mentat? Can I play as a Fremen? Can I play as a Sardaukar? Can I play as a Tleilaxu (sp?) Face Dancer?

Can I play as a member of that one combat school that Duncan Idaho graduated from? Nevermind the fact that he died, from what I hear anyone who passed the final test has to be at least as badass as a Fremen or a warrior Mentat.

I'm very much interested.

Alrighty you can be any of and not limited to the following: Greater/Lesser House leader, Pilot, Soldier, Swordmaster of Ginaz, Mentat Master of Assassins, maybe a saurdakaur, A bene gesserit, a merc, a smuggler, possibly a Sook Doctor, possibly a Tleilaxu facedancer.
In this game, you don't really have a class, you class is derrived from your nationality, skills, and training (if any). The Dune game uses the priorities system to generate characters (like shadowrun) So you have priorities A-E to assign to 5 different catagories. Nationality, Resources, Skills, Attributes, and Training. The higher a priority the more points/money/whatever you get to use. To be certain things you have to take certain priorites, to be a mentat or bene gesserit you must take the A priority for training, you can also be slightly trained in the ways by taking B for training. To be a Leader you need to take A for resources. Also to be a bene gesserit you must take bene gesserit nationality.
There are specific benefits associated with nationalities, I will post all of the major nationalities, also you can create one. I will post ALL of the character creation info after this weekend. So post what you want to be and we will go from there.
I will have more information after this weekend, I am almost finished with a character sheet!
