Tech Support Preping for a Soft upgrade

With Commissions coming in, (and hopefully keep coming for a while longer)

I'm working on doing a soft PC upgrade for improved performance and playing more old PC games from gen 7 and older. Along with indie stuff, as well as allow me to multi task more.

right now I'm looking to get the.
EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti SC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

and for the CPU that'll fit my old AM2+ slot
AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz Quad Core AM3 6MB 95W

as one of my options.

yeah I could go for a 900 series since they are getting pretty cheap now. But well let's just say, compared to my on board 6150 SE for my PCI 2.0 MoBo. A 750ti will be a huge improvement and enough for what I need it for.

The intent is to get a quad core and GPU to hold me over till I'm more financially stable enough to start building "The Wyvern" my new rig. For that I'll get the best I can afford at that time.

Any other suggestions on AM2+ or GPU's that are cheap?

Found a NVIDIA GT640 2GB PCI-Express 2.0 GeForce Video Graphics Card DVI VGA HDMI 2048MB going for around $50.

I could wait, but I might go for it since this way I can get both it in the Phenom II X4 945 for $100. Which is what I know I'll have by the end of the week.

After much debate, and saving up a bit more, I've decided to not upgrade the CPU and just get a whole new Mobo and CPU (will go with AMD since I need an affordable quad on a current chip set and Intel will cost a fortune. And AMD CPUs are still more then enough to get by despite popular belief).

As for my current PC I'll be getting a GTX 950 and a 500watt PSU very soon. Then once I build my money back up again (with help from the family) I'll get the mobo, AMD quad CPU, and 8 to 16 GB of DDR3/DDR4 ram. The GPU will be fine for what I need it to do since I'm using a 900p monitor and will be only upgrading to 1080p once I buy a bigger wacom tablet.

God damn this is still going to be an expensive investment despite shooting for low to mid tier. Especially if I upgrade the monitor because my current Wacom Tablet is a bit too small for 1080p displays. XD A lot of this going to be really spread a part too depending on how frequently I can get commissions and temp work jobs in.

I'll also need to get a more efficient CPU cooler and heat sink paste though that's all stuff I'll worry about after wards when I buy the PC case.

Though I will keep my old Mobo, give it the Phenon II x4 9XX series CPU I planed on getting along with a slim form factor CPU cooler (AMD's run hot) and buy this beautiful little case.
