The Ps3 Tech thread
Alright so I got a Ps3 as you may have heard and I am getting a new HD TV to play it on. With the Ps3 bundle, I was given your typical RCA cables. Will that work on said TV or do I need to get some HDMI Cables as well?

HDMI HDMI HDMI
I would expect your TV will have composite in (RCA), but you won't be able to use any HD with composite. If you want 420p, 720i-720p, and 1080i-1080p, you'll want at least component cables (instead of the yellow video and red+white stereo audio, component has red, blue, and green cables for video with the stereo RCA audio connections). HDMI will, of course, be the best choice.
From worst quality to best: composite/RCA -- s-video -- component -- HDMI

Considering the price of HDMI cables, you might as well just get one of those and be done with it.
You've already spent a lot on the TV and PS3, so adding less than 10 bucks to get the most out of it shouldn't be a big deal. |

Yeah get a HDMI cable. They're cheap as anything and easily the best.

The price of the HDMI cables do make a small bit of picture difference, but any old set will be massively better than just the normal plugs that come with the PS3.
Regardless of how much you spend on the HDMI cable don't get suckered into buying one of those $150 sets. A good set shouldn't net you more than $30.

Well, even the really good versions you can get for just over 10 bucks. I wasn't certain how much of a difference they made with a short cable, though, so I went with the cheaper initially.

Get an HDMI cable.
Also consider a bluetooth headset. |

I think you have your answer, Mac. Getting an HDTV and a PS3 and then not playing with an HDMI cable is like buying an oven and a pie and then only eating the crust.
Edit: I'm just wondering why the heck yours didn't come with an HDMI cable included? Pretty sure mine did.

If you got one included then you were either lucky or found some special deal offer that I've not heard of.
