"It's hard to write a fanfiction without pairing some people up."
A friend of mine accidentally issued me a challenge the other day while we were talking about Grim Tales. Apparently, it's quite difficult for a person to write a fanfiction without forming some couples between different worlds.
Challenge accepted! So now I've got a problem. I need to make a fanfiction webcomic in my spare time. Not only that, but I'm going to try to include as many cameos as possible. It will contain little to no romance, but hopefully plenty of action. I'm not the most talented artist, but that's not my issue (I'll practice and get better. This self-imposed challenge has no time limit). Now, since it's a wide-open mass crossover fanfiction, I can pick damn near any character I want from anywhere. I'm trying to form a sort of "main group" to follow - one that isn't too large, but is large enough to get some good character interaction. Since these will also be the characters I follow for the length of the story, I need them to be fairly blank slates, or at least blank enough that I can adapt or develop their characters without becoming untrue to the source material. So far I've decided on: -Yoshimitsu, mostly because the SC series has almost no plot, but he's got a strongly defined character who I interpret as Robin Hood meets Mr Miyagi. -Marcus from Tales of a Torn World, partly because Big Mac seems to hate Marcus and I don't, and partly because.... well, I was talking to Big Mac when I was brainstorming characters. Marcus just fits. I'm having trouble deciding on others. I'm strongly considering Edward Elric because he's awesome, but he's got a very strongly-defined character, meaning that I could easily piss off fangirls by having him do something he wouldn't. The fourth character I'm considering is either Dante or Nero - Nero only appeared in one game, which is the only Devil May Cry game I played, so I'm kinda leaning towards him due to familiarity mixed with flexibility. Dante, however, is more popular, and arguably more badass. So, I guess my ultimate questions are these: Who should the other two characters be? Should I abandon this altogether? Should I modify the plan at all? What do you guys think? I'm open to any criticism that doesn't involve the word "n00b".

King Bumi would be good as he's awesome and unlikely to engender any romantic vibes.
Actually, I just realized that you have quite the sausage fest going on, and a lack of magic, so throw in Lemina from Lunar, as she's primarily obsessed with money, not dongs, and her dialogue is fun (Talk about mega-nick-of-time!) as long as you don't abuse it.
