Windows 7 Suddenly not legit.
So, ever since i bought this computer (December 010) i've been using Windows 7 Ultimate. It came with the machine, it works great for me.
Now, just yesterday after a routine update, Windows suddenly starting claiming that it is not a legit product. I have the "Windows 7 ver 7600 not legitimate" mark on my desktop, it nags me constantly during use and during booting it up. As far as i'm aware, this is a OEM version of windows that came with the machine, i don't have a disk for it, but it's legit! I try to follow the "activate now!" option, but all it does is allow me to BUY a new copy of Windows 7... what the hell!? Anybody went through this? I really don't want to re-install windows (and everything else, i would think) just because of this, and i have half a mind to get me one of those "Nukers" that state they can wipe these warnings away, because it's just so damn annoying, specially since i actually have the damn real thing with me for over 8 months! So, any ideas on how to deal with this one? |

Did you buy the computer from a retailer? If so there should be a sticker on the back or monitor or something with your windows 7 license key, see if there are any prompts to enter that?

But yeah, that's basically the only option because it's unlikely your computer's manufacturer will help you beyond sending you to Microsoft, and Microsoft will (and I speak from experience) tell you to fuck right off and buy a new copy.

Contact the store, or pirate it, or you're probably SOL and have to get a new one.
