Dante's Inferno gets a new cover
It seems that Dante Alighieri's Dante's Inferno will be getting a new cover this January.
Unfortunately, this will be the original text, instead of an ever more hilarious novelisation of the video game. http://kotaku.com/5445824/dantes-inf...on-of-the-book Cover needs an IGN quote to complete it. And I for one cannot wait until Oedipus ReXxX. Last edited by Regulus Tera; 01-12-2010 at 01:36 AM. |

That...
what... nuggets... Is it possible to found a committee to prevent the video-game-isation of this world's literature? Like seriously, I don't know Dante's Inferno well enough to be hurt badly by this, but if books such as "All quiet on the Western Front" or "1984" were to receive this treatment, I might go into a psychotic rage. Seriously. |

"1984" is safe for now but, sadly, George Orwell is currently spinning in his grave over the soon-to-be-released "Animal Farmville."

Well... I was looking at this thinking "Why?" and then I remembered that I was looking ito Aligheri's original work because of the video game. It's not so terrible, if it gets people interested in buying the book.

I looked at that for about a minute until I realized it was the cover of the book. Well, I'm not going to read it now, just to spite them.
Actually a fan once convinced me it's not worth reading unless you read it in Italian, and I still can't read Italian. But anyway.

As far as I've heard the most recent translation into English outstrips the Italian. It only came out in the last year though. The translation in that one was done in 1882.
More importantly- are we just ignoring the other two parts of the book? |

The other two thirds of the Divine Comedy have been summarily ignored by the public at large for centuries, why stop now?

Can someone explain to me what happened to Redwood Studios that caused them to all go through mental defects and think everything they've been doing so far is a good idea. Seriously, I have no idea.
I was trying really hard to like it but after seeing Dante stitch a cross into his chest, um, "because", this game can go fuck itself.

The real question is, is this actually going to be the original story, or is this going to be the "Story-based-on-the-game-based-on-the-story" version?
It would totally not surprise me if this version is going to be based on the game. |
