A possible end for 8 bit theater
OK, I've been reading 8-bit theater for 2 months now and am very VERY amazed by the story and the characters. I'm a very passionate fanfiction writer too.
And one day, it hit me like White Mage's hammer, when I was reading the strip with Black Mage's rather cute letter to White Mage: An idea, how 8-bit theater could end. I'm not saying it's the best idea ever, or that it MUST end like that or something, but I personally really like it and just had to write the idea down somewhere. But where? I signed up here, because I think, that this may be the only place, where i can tell my idea and people will actually read it. This is less of a fanfiction, than a retelling, how it could happen in my head. So, and now, finally, before I explode: My idea, how 8-bit theater could possibly end. Well, Black Mage is with the Dark Warriors right now, isn't he? I don't think, he'll return to the "good" side until the very end. At some point, BM will suddenly become MIGHTY and PURE EVIL, and when I say that, I mean that. Even worse than the "King of hell" thing. You know, with gigantic-bat-wings and glowing red eyes and so on. Well, say hello to our final boss! In the meantime, he took out all of the other baddies -just for fun. So, it's just Light Warriors+White mage VS Super powered Black mage. The problem: His states are all OVER 9000!!! (Just kidding, but well, he's pretty much invincible) Red Mage's Spells and attacks are all blocked and reflected and Thief faints as soon as he realizes, that he can neighter escape, NOR steal from BM. What makes it even worse, is that fighter STILL thinks, BM was his bestest friend, so he keeps fighting lousy on purpose, because he doesn't want to hurt him. Without white mage around Fighter would probably be toast soon at this rate. In the meantime, White Mage has an inner monolouge remembering the note and the rare other occasions, that BM actually TRIED to be nice, even if the try failed horribly. She realizes, that she too has been just as dumb and incompetent as the rest of the group all along, since she, even through she often said so, never actually did something to help BM out of his psychopthic problems. She too has not been superior in intelligence or moraltiy to the boys, even if deep inside she always thought that she was. This sudden insight counts as "defeated your own flaw" and she gets a last minute class-change to "summoner". (There's even a sprite in FF2, that looks a lot like WM in a more revealing outfit. It would perfectly fit as summoner attire for her) White Mage uses her new Summoning-abilities to call a dragon (from Black Belts soul, to statify everybody, who wanted him ever back), however, this attempt to save everything fails HORRIBLY. One sentence: "SUMMONED DRAGON, USE YOUR VIOLENCE TO KILL HIM!" Well, guess what, he dies. (Again) OK, we're back at the battle again. Evil Evil EVIL BM ist still beating the crap out of our heros, exspecially out of poor Fighter. Red Mage acctually wants to use Ice-9, ("What we'll do?! We'll sacrifice ourself in honour! It will bring bonus-points for our next life!") but Thief stopps him, since he "doesn't want to be frozzen in a massiv block of ice, without having the chance to collect everything the world is owing him by now!" White Mage wants to try summoning again, except she doesn't know, WHO she should summon, because there's no helpful spirit or soul there, that she could summon! So she just tries summoning something out of the blue. It's then, that the following is revealed: OK, we already met BM's evil side. And his atrociously evil side. But there's a third side of him, deep , deep, deeeeeep in his mind, chained on a wall, in a cage, with iron-balls chained to his feet, ect. ect. His NICE side. Well, atrociously evil BM and evil BM teamed up LOOOONG ago, to get rid of nice BM, but since they're the same person, they could only cage and chain him. They've ever since been playing poker for the right to take controll for the day, in front of his cage, to insult him. (Nice BM looks in my imagination like Onion-kid with BM's clothes) Nice BM is, in fact, the one who made BM write the infamous note to WM. This, and every other of the rare occasions, BM was not a "terrible, terrible monster" (as White Mage calls it) is to be credited to the other two side falling asleep, while playing poker, so the nice side could escape for a few moments and do something... just before beeing caught and chained onto the wall again. When BM obtained his new doomsday-invincibility powers, the two other sides just threw the nice side out of his mind. How exactly did White Mage find that out? Well, she realized a while ago, that there was this funny , shiny orb floating through the room, but dismissed it as illusion, until it somehow started TALKING to her. Well, Fighter's comment on that: "Oh, THAT voice? Yeah, realized that a while ago, when it asked me to "quit beeing an such an moron, please, or we're all going to end up in universal destruction!". Funny, huh?" If you drop the "please", it's not that hard to figure out, who said that. White mage than quickly summons ANOTHER BM frm the shiny orb, so now it's nice BM VS. VERY VERY EVIL AND POWERFULL BM. ... Except that evil is apparently a lot stronger than good, and nice BM's spells doesn't do a thing against evil BM's spells. Also, nice BM refuses to use Hadoken, because of the way it's powered. He instead tries Meteor, but that doesn't really work. Next, he and White Mage try Twin-casting Ultima, since that's their very, very last chance. When even, ultima fails, all hope seems lost--- untill White Mage looses something: Her Bra (her new outfit is VERY revealing) This sight makes BOTH, nice BM and Evi, evil, EVIL BM go Gaga for a few minutes, and that's enough for Fighter (RM and Thief finally managed to convince him, that nice BM is, in fact the original, and that the evil one is a doppelgänger, who wants to kill them all. It's just half the truth, but hey, fighter is finally fighting!) to attack with his beloved Sword-chucks from behind. And even if the incarnation of pure evil: BM is still a Mage, and Mages are weak to physical attacks. After fighter did a lot of beating, with evil BM shouting "OUCH, UH, STOP, YOU MORON, YOU'RE RUINING EVERYTHING, ARGHH! YOU DARN IDIOT.....ect,ect" Nice BM takes his revenge on evil BM and atrouciously evil BM by doing the final blow with another cast of Meteor, while smirking statisfied. (Now you know, why I called him "Nice" BM and not "Good" BM. He may be NICER than the other two sides and know about moral, but he doesn't have less fun destoriing things with magic.) After this, everything indicating Doom (red sky, black clouds, ect.) disappears, Nice BM fades, Black Mage returns to normal and faints. Fighter tries to wake him up, shaking and crying like a baby, whereas BM wakes up and punches him in the face, telling him that he made his clothes all wet with the crying. Fighter then goes on shouting: "BM! YOU'RE OK!" and hugging him, whereas BM pulls out his knife--- but can't go farther. He somehow doesn't bring himself over it and go on stabbing Fighter. While Black Mage is still confused AND shocked because of this, White Mage goes on telling him, how PROUD she is and actually kisses him. "Does that mean, we're making out?" "Let's talk about this, once you got rid of the knife." A view into BM's mind shows, WHY that acctually happened: Seems like the direkt blast of Meteor KILLED atrouciously evil BM, and left evil BM back in a rather ramponated state, so he's forced by nice BM to sign an agreement (that was written by Thief, somehow), saying that he's only allowed to take full controll on Mondays and Thurthdays, on any other day, he has to share work with Nice BM, or Nice BM will chain HIM onto the wall in the cage. The result on the outside is, that BM lost his lust for the homocidial and threatens the others with at least a tiny little bit of respect... except on mondays and thurthdays. The group decides to return to Corneria--- Just to realize, that their battle with evil BM devastet half of the world and that there is NO Corneria anymore. But somewhere, in the middle of a castles ruins, a king is still talking to his favorite coffee stain about digging for Mana.... So, what do you think of it? I know, it's prettly long, but I'm not got at making things short. Last edited by Neni; 10-14-2008 at 03:53 PM. |

We'll have to do this the hard way.

Either way, throwing out Red Mage and Thief is completely unacceptable. As well as not using the possibility for Sarda or Dragoon to show up and cause pointless pain to Black Mage. For a final battle, it's decent, but it doesn't really seem to fit with 8-bit's style. Lastly, Devil wings? No.

And what's so wrong about devil-wings? They look cool! Hmm, I actually thought about putting Sarda in, but not Dragoon, since I thought letting him use "jump" on BM in this situation was pretty much like pulling a Black Belt on him. He would be unlikly to survive that, I think. Yeah, not fitting with the style is quite a problem, but I think, that it's always pretty hard to fit into someone else's style without completly ignoring your own preferences. I know, Brian will of course do something completly different from my little idea here in the end, and it will be great, because his comic never disspointed me yet. But wouldn't White Mage as a summoner be cool? XD |

I enjoyed the bit about Black Mage's nice side, as well as the bit at the end with King Steve.
If anything should be a constant in the terrible world of 8-bit, it should be King Steve.

I have to say that of all the fan-creation possible endings to 8-bit theater the main thing that I like about this one is that it is actually funny.
Because some of the made-up, thoroughly written ones I've seen just end up being lame attempts to make you be surprised by its epicness and emotionally moving plot, when I can't honestly see any of the endings written like this being done without having at least some of Black Mage's good old fashioned incompetence. Might I add that not on this forum is where I usually see said 'epic' endings.

I feel kinda dumb for writing this off as "just another stupid 8-Bit ending." It's not the best fanfic ever, and whatever Brian does will probably be funnier than this, but it's very good compared to what I've seen in the past. I especially like the contract signing by the evil BM. It should be gained by the promise of making out, but not technically specified with whom (in the typical Thief manner). Good work!

It's not half bad.
I'd prefer that you used other characters that aren't as popular in order to pull off some crazy, ironic twist, but I still think you did rather well. Congrats!

I have thought a bit now, and now I think, it would have been better if I really included Sarda one way or the other.... maybe as White Mage's patron deity? XD That would be sooo ironic.
Also, I could have made some reference to comic 434's dialouge in the future between BM and unknown (some say, it's fighter) Hmm... Maybe I'll rewrite this, if I got time. |

Include Orc-Zombie. Every major ending for a webcomic must have Orc-Zombie.
