Last Stand: Superhero RP Signup
This is a t1, I guess, if I understand these rules properly. Text-based free-form combat (and I will say right now, if you defeat the enemy in one godly post, you're out).
World It is approaching the one year anniversary of the end of the world. April Fools Day, coincidentally enough. April 1st, 2013, Europe wakes up and America goes to bed, and an impossibly co-ordinated attack strikes Earths surface. One billion die that night as essentially every single major metropolitan center is captures, and incinerated. A tiny, tiny portion of the eEarths surface, and yet such a huge portion of the resistance, gone. The aliens weren't interested on hostages, or negotiations, or co-existence. They wanted us out. The fighting from there on in became less one-sided, but more bloody. It was only through the newly-concieved ParaCorp that any victories were to be had at all. Mutations had been recorded at phenomenal rates for well over twenty years, far in excess of what the growing population numbers would indicate. Instead of one in ten million, one in ten thousand humans were being born... different. Most powers did not manifest, and of those that did, most were not remarkable. Telepathy and low-grade telekineses were most common, but in some individuals, these powers were warped, twisted, magnified a hundred-fold, resulting in beings of immense power (compared to the average blue-collar human). Some joined the Corps voluntarily, and many were drafted, particularly those with destructive powers, in order to provide protetion, and accountability. Even those who hated the Corps joined up after The Fools War. Today, almost one year later, the proper military has been destroyed. Any humans who still survive do so in small groups, protected by one or two of the remaining Corps members. Maybe ten million humans worldwide are alive, fully half under the protection of these pockets of resistance. Many humans live alone, or in small family units in the wilderness, subsisting off of wildlife, and what nature has to offer. Some of these wilderness survivors are happier this way. Today, almost one year later, the morse code longwave recievers many of these pockets of resistance use to keep in touch at pre-determined times are becoming active again. Although the alien ships still wander the Earth, probing for resistance, they are by and large more interested in setting up shop, and converting Earths resources for their own uses. It is not diffocult for them, considering half of the Earths mineral wealth has already been mined, processed, and turned into useful goods. Cars, buildings, personal electronics... these are recycled by massive factories, reduced to raw components, skipping the entire necessity to mine for them. The aliens themselves are insectoid, resembling large praying mantids. they have six legs, and six arms. Four arms are large, spiked, bladed, and strong. The remaining two are smaller, doubly-articulated, ending in radially-splayed five-fingered appendages of great skill and dexterity. Built into their very shells, complex, powerful electronics provide all manner of technological marvel, from energy weapons to force fields to the ability to fly. One is never sure what has been built into a Bug until it is used, and this makes them supremely dangerous. In one-on-one combat, even a well-armed squad of normals is no match for one combat-ready Bug. Characters We are looking for players, both normal and super-normal, for this game. The super-normals should not be "gods", but perhaps on a power level comparable to your favorite comic book characters. I will post the character I will be using in a little bit. Format is fairly simple: Name: Appearance: History: (pre and post war) Powers: |

Name: Xavious Lomar
Appearance: Xavious is very tall, and appears gaunt, almost skeletal, until you get a good look at him. In reality, he just has pretty much zero bodyfat. He is nothing but bone and tough, steel-cord muscle. He wears a wide-brimmed black hat and black shades, mostly for the comfort of those around him. Tucked up under his hat, ready at a moments notice, is a heavy-reinforced hockey mask which he can pull down over his face. He made it himself out of coldweld putty, and it is formed to his face exactly. When he does this, his glasses are removed, and his white glowing eyes are revealed to the world, peering out from his black armored mask. He wears a long leather coat, and is bristling with weapons, mostly blades. His hair is very long, unkempt, and greasy, usually hanging in his eyes (but as you will see, this is not a problem.) History: Before the war, Xavious was a vigilante warrior in Seattle. At night, he would fight crime, often beating criminals to within an inch of their life. There were seventeen separate warrants outstanding for his arrest, so when the police system was destroyed, he really didn't mind so much. Even so, he is a protector of the weak, and always has been. His methods are just a little harsher than most. When the ships arrived, it didn't take a genius to know what was about to happen, and he was nearly vaporized along with his city. It took him three days to make it to a first aid kit to bandage his wounds, and a week before he ventured back into the city. After several clashes, several bad injuries, he made it back out, with a Bug head weighing down his backpack. At the moment, he guards a small town living in the mines at the base of the Rockies. Powers: Secondarily, Xavious' body is considerably tougher than a normal humans. His speed and strength, while not supernatural, are comparable to 'peak' human. Despite his rail-thin arms, he is about as strong as an Olymian weightlifter (IE, he can lift very small cars up onto two wheels) and about as fast as a Kumite champion (Bruce Lee). This puts him on the low scale, as far as paranormals are considered, but taken together is in incredibly agile. He is more resilient, though, being essentially bullet resistant. A standard 9mm bullet would probbaly break the skin, and make a horrible bruise, but otherwise not really hurt him. His primary, and indeed potent, ability are his eyes. Somehow, he is able to tune up and down the electromagnetic spectum, from longwave down to microwave, x-ray, gamma, and into the scary territory beyond. He can see through people, buildings, and solid stone. He can see sources of electromagnetic activity, including cell phones and energy weapons (although not all at once. It takes him time to dial up and down through the wavelengths). It is with this power that he has proven such a competent pursuer of crime, and defender of the innocent. Combined with his speed, strength, skill with the blades and penchant for violence, he is one of the more dangerous, albeit less obviously powerful, paras left alive in the world. |

The very frustrated Titan
|
I think this should be in the RP Signups and Discussions thread, but heres my char for it. (Too bad my favorite super-'hero' is Thanos, he's too god-like )
Name: John "The Fluorescent Phantom" Appearance: He wears a white body suit, and has longish blonde hair. Before the war he had a happier looking face than his now grim angry one. History: He was born with his powers, but managed to keep it a secret from most. He never went out to use them, unless it was an emergency. One of these emergencies included an incident when a plane he was on was hijacked. He blasted the hijackers, and since noone else knew how to fly a plane he had to fly under the plane and help guide it down to safety (a VERY strenuous act). He had a girlfriend and was in college when the war started. His girlfriend was murdered during it, and he used his powers to try and fight a few aliens but obviously made no impact. He now tried and protects himself from the invaders, and usually is in hiding. Powers: He can turn into an energy being, which looks like a bright human made of light, and while he is in this form he can fly.He can also shoot energy blasts from his hands, and an energy force field.
